How have you coped with Aspergers?

I have had Asperger's as long as I can remember, and I feel like I have learned quite a bit from it. I have also been diagnosed with signs of anxiety, and I believe that it doesn't help me cope with my Asperger's as it already is. This has lead me to realize something though, that the mind is powerful. The mind can have it's flaws, but Asperger's can also be thought of as an improvement on the mind. Sure... it does lessen your social skills, but it enhances your intellect. It's different for everyaspie, but one way or another you must have something that gives you an ability higher than the average person. From what I see, some people don't realize it yet. I think I have though. I look upon Asperger's not as a curse, but as a blessing. It makes us who we are, and shapes us to be the person we are today. Coping wouldn't be the right word to use, but rather looking in what you can actually do with Asperger's. A very low percent of humans have this diagnosis, and that makes us unique. It's your decision to think if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but I can only say that your perception is what guides your mind to be what it can be. Think of yourself as awesome, and you are awesome. Think of yourself like you are useless, then you perceive yourself to be so. We can change our thoughts though, because we are conscious and not just because of Asperger's. Aspies can realize this fact sooner though, because our mind works differently. It's sad to hear this, but I believe that it is completely logical. Don't worry about it, I can understand how you're feeling. Although, before you make this decision, I believe you should really take a look at the life advice section (make a thread on your situation). You might find that there are a lot of people who are really willing to support you there... and who knows, maybe your depression will lower after the help you could get. I wish the best of you, and respect your decisions. -
