  1. More often than not, I don't just because I'm usually fairly sure that the money I loan them goes straight to their next drug fix or sip of alcohol, and that isn't something I want to support. I would have no problem buying them a sandwich or some kind of food if they were really hungry and would appreciate such a gesture, but when they just want money in their palms, then it's unlikely that their intentions are genuine.
  2. As far as I'm self-aware, no, and I don't consider myself as such. However, I have no problem whatsoever with people who are and because I have friends who are LGBT, I even consider myself a supporter, or "straight ally" if you would, though I'm not exactly sure how "straight" I am either. I'm complicated. ._.
  3. Eh, if I'm lucky I'll go out for pizza with my family. That's usually what I want to do anyway. But beyond eating out somewhere nice, I usually don't go or do anything in particular. My birthday is usually just another day.
  4. Wingnut x Treehugger Far out, man.

  6. I sure have. He's my favorite train-loving catman Fluttershy fan.
  7. Seeing as the official description for Twilight on the website confirms that she's the same in personality to the Equestrian Twilight but has yet to discover the magic of friendship, coupled with the fact that the rest of the Shadowbolts are a bunch of jerks, I am going to go out on a limb here and say that no they aren't nice to Twilight. I'm pretty sure by the end of the movie, this world's Twilight will be an official part of the Humane Six.
  8. Hello newbie, welcome to the forums! I totally dig your avvie and best pony. ;)

      Hi! :) Thank you /)

  9. I'm pretty sure her newly colored mane is more just a reflection of her change as a character rather than some kind of affection or ailment. Her original mane looked bright and fiery, whereas her new duller looking mane is warmer, reflecting her change of heart. My question is, is Sunset Shimmer's homesickness something that she's picked up naturally, or is there some sort of magic at play that's causing it? I'd be surprised to see Sunset suddenly start to feel homesick after she's established a life and friendships in the human world unless there was something more to it. I'm now more interested in EQG 3 than ever.
  10. I have always been a huge fan of the entire Apple Family, (though Applejack's immediate family especially) probably because they remind me of my own family. I have an older and a younger sibling, so being the middle kid myself, I relate to Applejack's position a lot. It's great that even in a series that emphasizes friendships, you still get plenty of important messages about familial relationships through what is one fearsome foursome of a family. I for one always get excited whenever an Apple Family episode is coming up. Pinkie Apple Pie saw the Apples at their absolute best, and I can't wait to see what the second half of season 5 has in store for them. Applejack is of course my favorite though. That should be fairly obvious. I do think the rest of the Apples are really under appreciated by the fandom since they're all some of my favorite characters too. Big Mac is by far my favorite stallion, Apple Bloom is my favorite school-age pony, and I do really like Granny Smith as well. She's the best senior pony, although that's not saying much.
  11. I'm definitely more of the type of viewer who takes the show at face value. I realize that, at the end of the day, it is a kid-friendly series made by people who come up the ideas as they go along, and no show is ever going to be perfect and free from plotholes or inconsistencies no matter the genre, target audience, etc. The important matters to me are the characters and the show's lessons. So long as our favorite ponies are handled with care and remain the complex and consistently well-written heroines that they are, and as long as the messages being conveyed are well and clear, then there isn't much beyond that that I think is worth seriously critiquing. I think we all have our inner analyst that likes to dig deep and review the show more critically, but overall as long as it's a fun and enjoyable experience, I think most fans just want to watch the show and enjoy it for what it is in spite of whatever "flaws" are present. The show's strengths greatly outweigh its cons, and it's still one of the best animated series on TV.
  12. I really enjoyed all three of them, as cliche and tropey as they were. I'm going to have to go with the unpopular choice and say Aria Blaze. I guess I just enjoy the snarky villains. Plus she looks and sounds the coolest. Enough of a reason, right?
  13. They're a bit overblown, but were they that awful? Seriously, some fans cry about the slightest things. I'm sure the Mane Six could not care less when said rainbow powers help them to save the day. You know, because that's what's actually important. Except maybe to Rarity.
  14. Nah. I like Derpy in small doses. I don't think she'd be as great or as special to the fandom if we saw her all of the time. She started out as a fun little Easter egg and has slowly but surely found her own role in a handful of the show's episodes. What more can you ask for? Besides, I'd like the show to avoid any more controversy over her name, voice, or clumsiness. And she's another pegasus. That would seriously disrupt the pony type balance amongst the group. We've got enough winged-mares already. What we really need is another unicorn now. A certain bacon-maned baddie with a sun cutie mark.
  15. It's interesting, because I've seen good arguments for both sides. Most fans think that AJ is one of the older mares of the Mane Six, but you're not the only one I've seen argue her being one of the youngest. You presented good evidence, but I'll go ahead and share my thoughts on your points. 1. Actually, Applejack said that she was "even littler than y'all." While AJ could be referring to age in this situation, she could very well be talking about size. It really isn't that clear. The reason I think she might be talking more about size is the fact that being a late bloomer was stated to be something that ran in the family in the Call of the Cutie episode. Granted, they were talking about being late to receive their cutie marks, but perhaps size was part of it? 2. I attribute Applejack's position in life more to the fact that she is supposed to be the quintessential family-centric character of the cast, so it makes sense to have her with at least one parental figure, and despite that, Applejack has consistently shown herself to be as much of a matriarch of the Apple family, if not more so than even that of Granny Smith. As for spending power, she's never been shown to be lacking it, she's just very business minded and does what she can to make the best profit. Farming doesn't exactly lead to a life of luxury, so if she seems poorer than Rarity it's probably because she is. 3. All very good points, but I think Applejack is slowly being groomed to take Granny Smith's spot. The thing to remember though is that while Applejack is very much capable of running Sweet Apple Acres on her own, she still has the utmost respect and admiration for her Granny. She probably doesn't want to take over until it's the right time, and for all we know that could be when Granny passes. 4. This is a really interesting case. Unfortunately, I think there's too many plotholes in the show to know for sure. When Applejack left the farm as a filly, Apple Bloom was nowhere in sight, which leaves us to wonder if she was born yet and if so, where she was. The growth rates of the ponies is also unknown, so while these points are interesting, I don't know if there's enough clues to come to that conclusion. Rarity could simply have grown quicker, or maybe Sweetie Belle is a bit younger than Apple Bloom. Seeing as she's the de facto sweetheart of the CMCs, it isn't unreasonable to think Sweetie is the youngest, even if they're in the same class. That being said, I CAN see Rarity being a year older than Applejack just as Fluttershy is to Pinkie Pie. I think most fans acknowledge Rarity as being one of the eldest. 5. I can't really put much stock into what Trixie says. She likely said that to make Applejack feel small and inferior to fire her up. Applejack later calls Trixie "missy" which is just as diminutive. I don't think age was being alluded to by either pony. I tend to headcanon Applejack as being one of the three older ponies along with Rarity and Fluttershy, and this is mostly going by maturity level. I believe Twilight sits in the middle (4th to be precise) simply because that seems like a happy medium for the lead character. I could be wrong though. Glad to see another thought-provoking topic from you, A Talking Dragon. Been too long.
  16. That banner is amazing and you should be proud. <3

  17. The new banner has the Mane Six, Spike, Discord, two cool background ponies and Sunset Shimmer. Therefore, it is made of win. <3

Call me pure or whatever, but I like to avoid sex, drugs, and profanity, and this is coming from someone who enjoys a good drama story. I'm all for a death scene if it's done Disney style and isn't explicit in any way. Probably won't happen.

Aye; would be best to let MLP be MLP without too much GTA, thank you. XD

I think the fanfics cover much of the GTA aspect.

  18. Seems to me like it hasn't been part of the curriculum since I was in grade school. I learned cursive in the third grade and was never required to practice it or use it again. I use it when signing my name, and that's about it. I honestly don't think it's an important requirement for much beyond that. Besides, I have a heck of a time reading in cursive the majority of the time.
  19. That's actually a really perfect proposition, and one I'll gladly accept. It's now my headcanon until the series says otherwise. I think forgiveness can very easily tie into empathy the same way that the other spirit of friendship embodiments do with their corresponding elements of harmony. Thanks for sharing that.
  20. Welcome to the forums! It's always nice to see another Sunset fan! :)

  21. So let's talk about Sunny. IF let's say she is revealed to wield a mysterious 7th element in either series, (and let's not get into the hows and whys of that here) what do you think her element would or should be? Forgiveness seems to be the popular idea among the fandom, but I've also seen redemption, humility, and balance come up. I personally like forgiveness the best of the lot, because it's the only one that seems like an essential component to a good friendship - in other words, forgiveness is something you'd want your bestie to have, much like you'd want a friend who is generous, loyal, honest, kind, and humorous. The other three don't fit the bill as much, if you ask me. Meghan McCarthy likes the idea of empathy, which I can also get behind for the same reason. I think that's something that Sunset possesses already, whereas she'd need to sort of be molded into the forgiveness role since we haven't really seen her display much of that yet, though I can see it fitting just fine. However, empathy might not be as easily understood by the target audience, whereas forgiveness is easier to understand. Rarity was intended to be inspiration but was changed to generosity because the former was thought to be harder for kids to understand, if I'm not mistaken. Maybe some of you can think of a better element for her? What would you want her to be? I'm curious to see the answers. Have more Sunset while we're at it. :3
  22. The other Applejack fans already named off the main ones - AJ, Jackie, and Orangesexy. I also call her Apple pone, Best pone, Apple overlord, and Sweet apple. There can never be a shortage of nicknames for her though, so I'll have to think up more.
  23. Shine Like Rainbows is not only infinitely superior to A Friend For Life (which is a fine song in its own right) but it's one of the very best songs in the franchise and my personal favorite from Equestria Girls/Rainbow Rocks.
  24. I could be wrong, but I'm going to wager that the ponies will appear in the film in the same manner that they did in the previous two films. At the end of Rainbow Rocks, Twilight told Sunset and the humane five that this wasn't goodbye, that it was only goodbye until next time. Sunset then wrote to Twilight saying that she misses her, hopes she'll return soon, and promises to keep in touch. Those are are all telltale signs that the characters will see an imminent reunion, so I do think there's a very solid chance that Equestrian Twilight will be heading to the human world once again, though her role will likely be smaller than before, since we now have human Twilight in the equation as well as Sunset Shimmer now acting as the lead character.
