  1. @@Jellal Fernandes, The Black Knight overheard the discussion on the Paladin's affects and was somewhat relieved. It certainly explained why it hadn't hurt him directly, as Scepters didn't have magic flow through them so much as summon magic as it was needed, though Midnight would potentially be very effected by the Paladins as magic was a large part of his very being and longevity. Perhaps it would be a good idea to keep him away from the Paladins with his safety in mind. The Black Knight took a special interest in the dragon bloom, if this burning was the correct form of burning it could be very useful to him. He approached the small huddle so he could participate in the discussion. @@Yoshikupo, @@Jellal Fernandes, "Forgive me for the intrusion, I couldn't help but overhear you mentioning that the leaves of Dragon Bloom cause burns. Is it a fire burn with heat? Or an acid burn? Either of those would make for great weapons if used correctly. And as to your plans for the future, we too are curious about what you will replace the current establishment with. I can't support someone who doesn't plan for the long term goals."
  2. Baseplate quickly made his way past the pegasus and into the school just as soon as the bus stopped moving. He nodded in greeting with a flash of a smile at Cheerilee as he entered the school house. He had met her a week or so ago, soon after he got out of the hospital, in order to see how he would be placed in school this term. He took a seat in the middle, but still somewhat close to the front given the small size of the room, usually he would sit in the second or third row from the back, but today he wanted to make a good impression. All he hoped was that those that sat around him weren't too talkative.
  3. @@Randimaxis, His grin grew slightly, bordering on almost manic as the influx of emotions, amplified by the stones, rushed into him, quickly surpassing his own reserve into dangerous territory. Were the stones and Selena not actively fortifying and draining his reserves he would have snapped right then from the pressure, then Redd would have been the least of their worries. But the stones prevented it, allowing him to experience something that no other empathic had ever survived. He started to laugh a bit as he began to float, the cloud diamond bearing him up in an effort to burn off his new dangerous supply of magic. "So much POWER! Limitless potential, I can see why the alicorns like it so much. Ohhh," His grin set into a solid smiling line as he began to drift down to the quarry yard, "Oh Redd! Come out and Play!" To be honest, Illiad was pretty sure things were quickly becoming very wrong with himself. His body and mind were never meant to wield such power and much more would surely be the end of him. He needed to end this quick before he caused himself permanent damage, but he couldn't manage to bring himself to care really, the power felt too good to recognize the dangers, he felt himself slipping just a little bit, the inhibitions moving aside as he probed the depths of his own capabilities. Who knew what would happen.
  4. @@Bracket Sparks, Baseplate looked a bit concerned when Stormy just up and took a seat next to him without asking first, especially when there were other, open seats on the bus. But he wasn't about to say anything about it. "Don't worry about it," he spoke a bit cautiously, unsure of the pegasus' motives.
  5. @@Randimaxis, Oh no, you're not leaving this all to me. Illiad gave a bit of a crooked smile, his eyes ever-so-slightly out of focus. "Oh, someone lost an artifact of immense power that traps you within your own mind and forces you to act in a way completely different to the way you usually act. It takes the smallest characteristic you have and amplifies it to be the greatest characteristic. Now I'm stuck cleaning up the mess, which now includes your refinery, which blew up soon after I saved you from it. Which is why I now have all these cool power stones. Thankfully that same someone who lost the artifact also has a counterspell, which is why you guys are now free from its effects. You are all currently wearing diamond circlets on your heads which will protect you from falling to it's affects again, as well as protecting you from any other influences, magical or otherwise for the time being. Don't take them off until I say so and you'll be fine." He turned away from the Blackwaters and started to make his way down to the quarry yard, "Now, I need to go fight Redd, who's been infecting you guys, so someone can fix all this. Save all your questions for when I return as I will be hosting a Q&A session then." He felt a little bit off, but he couldn't put his hoof on why. It felt strange to be able to wield so much power. Is this how the alicorns feel every day? Interesting...
  6. @@Randimaxis, Illiad gave a short sigh, the high levels of power were starting to affect his nerves and weaken his usual level of control. "Alright, we've got them all together so now lets test that spell you've got and see if it's worth anything. The refinery's already pretty demolished and if we don't hurry I think more buildings will follow. I can't wait to see what brilliant plan you have to restoring the whole place, and how you're going to convince everyone they lost a full day or so without raising any questions."
  7. @@Randimaxis, Once he was sure no others were hurt, he kept running with Mr. Blackwater in his magical grip to the place they agreed to return to. He looked Mr. Blackwater straight in the eyes as he ran and spoke with his most serious tone yet. "Remain calm, this isn't over yet and you'll be free soon. Just hold on." He turned back to look where he was running, it wouldn't be good to trip now after all.
  8. @@The Cerberus, Baseplate nodded and gave a slight smile at Scar's thanks, "Don't mention it, couldn't stand to see another bullies for being different." He took his own seat towards the back of the bus, a slight smile remaining on his face as he remembered how Summer had been too stunned by his words to even respond. Hopefully that would be enough to stop him from continuing in the future. He turned to the window, hoping they would be at the school soon. He couldn't wait to be back home.
  9. @@Glike, I'm glad you asked, and further glad that Randimaxis brought it to my attention. As a writer, I've put far too much thought into Celestia and how imperfect she is, but it really comes down to a few distinct characteristics. Namely, she's too kind, Too motherly for her own good and for the good of her subjects. Another who happens to have the same name as me said it best. I'll put it in spoilers so you don't get a wall of text unless you really want to know. It's an excerpt from my own story actually, link in my signature. In short, she is flawed in that she tries so hard to stay relevant that she has slowed down progress to match the pace she can adapt to. She hides the truth so that there is no record of her ever having failed. Some of this may be contradicted by the show, I haven't seen much after season 3. Thoughts?
  10. @@crispy fries, @@The Cerberus, @@cwhip9, Baseplate's expression darkened as he sighed, he had had enough of this back home and he had hoped that the place Ms. Sparkle touted as the epitome of love and tolerance would be above such petty squabbles. Turns out it's just the same as back home, still bullies trying to hide their insecurities by exploiting others. Well, he wasn't exactly going to sit by and watch it happen. "Oi!" he turned towards Summer Bead, "Where do you get off teasing him? I think he's the most interesting one here by far and given how disinterested I am in you that's really saying something. You get on him because he's different? What, you want us all to be idiotic loudmouths like you? You mouth and legs may work but it's clear when you use them that your brain has no idea what it's doing half the time. So lay off him." Baseplate was surprised by his own outburst but stood firm. Perhaps this place was getting to him, but he wasn't about to let someone so interesting be ashamed of something unique about them.
  11. @@Mentis Soliloquy,@@Bracket Sparks, @@crispy fries, @@cwhip9, @@The Cerberus, Baseplate sighed, all these introductions were getting tiring. He had always hated doing things twice. He turned to the new arrivals and gave a halfhearted smile, the sooner the bus got here the sooner school would be over and the sooner he could be working on the briefcase again. "I'm Baseplate, I'm new to this town and school. I get the feeling I'm not the only one, though I could be wrong."
  12. @@The Cerberus, Baseplate turned to look at Scar, a raised eyebrow to convey his surprised skepticism. "Metal legs? Well isn't that interesting? Are they magic like most everything here or machined? Or is it just metal plating on your legs? I didn't think Equestria had that sort of capability in the case of the second, and even the first seems a bit extraordinary to me. Though I guess don't really know too much about magic despite being a unicorn."
  13. @@Randimaxis, Given his increased magical abilities by the stones and the enhanced precision offered by Selena's guidance. IT would be no trouble to teleport all three of the ponies out of the refinery. So he did just that. In a very bright flash all three of the ponies were suddenly outside of the refinery, hopefully they would be safe enough there. He immediately grabbed Mr. Blackwater with his magic and began running directly away from the refinery in the hopes that he could put enough distance between him and it before it blew.
  14. @@The Cerberus, Baseplate was similarly curious about his classmates, it seemed there would be no normal ponies here, except perhaps for the yo-yo one. "If you wanted to blend in, a cape is hardly the way to do it. You should invest in a trench coat of sorts, or perhaps even pants which would also dampen the noise of your legs knocking together." He sighed, introductions would have to happen sooner or later, "I'm Baseplate by the way."
  15. @@Jellal Fernandes, Midnight stumbled when the magic was removed, causing the Black Knight to roll off of his back. The weight of his armor was all the more apparent, making it difficult to move until the paladin was dead. The Black Knight was also blinded by the Paladin's anti-magic as he couldn't do his detect life spell to see. Though his vision returned quickly once the paladin was dead. He checked Midnight quickly before he rushed over to the dead figures. "I suppose that answers my question." He retrieved the paladin's sword, comparing it to his own. It was expertly crafted to be sure, much longer and wider as well. He decided to keep the sword, placing it through his sash as a makeshift holder on his back before returning his own sword to his side. "Well then, what now?"
  16. @@Acnologia, @@Yoshikupo, The Black Knight looked about the room then shrugged, "I guess that's it then." He and Midnight turned to leave the house before he looked back over his shoulder, "I'm going to see what I can contribute, anyone who wants to follow me out is welcome." With that they left the house to assess the situation. It seemed that the only real threats were the well armored fellow knights and the extremely well armored one, most likely a champion of sorts. They were opposed by the troublesome pair from earlier and a new one who had entered from the sky. @@Jellal Fernandes, He approached at a somewhat leisurely pace though still with a sense of urgency, sword drawn though resting on his shoulder, and his cape billowing softly in the light wind of the area. "Oi!" He called out to the two groups, "What's your stance on magical creatures? It will determine which of you gets the pleasure of my sword at their side."
  17. @@cwhip9, It was another awful day in Ponyville. Not to any fault of the weather ponies, to their credit it was actually shaping up to be a very nice day outside. No, it was an awful day because rather than getting to spend it working with the briefcase, Ms. Sparkle insisted that he go to school, if only to associate with others his apparent age. Baseplate muttered to himself as he packed the things Ms, Sparkle said he would need in the recently repaired saddlebags he had been found with. "Only a month after being discharged from that backwards hospital and she wants me to go to school? Bah! Even that nice teacher Cheerilee said I might be better off just learning what I don't already know from all the books here, and I think she'd know a thing or two about that." Notebooks followed loose paper into the bag, then a small quantity of pencils. A dozen or so should be enough. While his magic had greatly improved since he was discovered, he still had the tendency to accidentally break pencils when he used them. Finally a pair of white gloves tailored in similar style to a minotaur, but with smaller more slender fingers, just in case he needed to refocus his telekinetic magic. With that he lifted the light bags onto his back, ensured that the briefcase was locked one last time, straightened his rectangular glasses on his face, and made his way out the door to begin his walk to his first day of school here.
  18. @@Jellal Fernandes, The Black Knight and similarly Midnight were torn in the situation. On the one hand these actions were clearly in violation of the local laws, thus potentially unjust. On the other, if this King Fenrir were himself unjust, then the laws he had set down may too be unjust and thus to rebel against them would be the potentially just action. A small mass of black smoke amassed in the hand that held the pamphlet, allowing him to read it without taking his 'eyes' off the pair as they resumed their fighting. "Their cause intrigues me, perhaps this is our purpose here." @@Yoshikupo,@@Acnologia, He and Midnight turned back towards the house that Chain and Banner had taken refuge in, he would pass the pamphlet off to them to see what they thought about the idea. There was usually much treasure to gain in a war after all. They quickly reached the house and called out to the pair. "Hey! They gave me this pamphlet about what's going on. You guys want to take a look at it?"
  19. @@Jellal Fernandes,@@Yoshikupo, @@Acnologia, @@Drago Ryder, @@Child Of Darkness, The Black Knight had his great sword in hand once the arrows flew over the walls. He mounted Midnight soon after the first of the guards fell. Over his shoulder he spoke to the pair and the elf that had joined them, "Get yourselves and the citizens to safety, we'll deal with this." He rode off on Midnight to where he spotted Jack from earlier, "I knew there was something suspicious about you two, explain yourself." He had his sword drawn and the red glow to his faceplate seemed more intense than usual.
  20. @@Yoshikupo, The Black Knight looked towards Midnight, who nodded, before turning back to the pair. "Sounds good to me, seems an easy enough way to get some funds at least and those quests don't sound too particularly difficult. I'd be happy to help you two for a share of the reward."
  21. @@Jellal Fernandes, The pair seemed suspicious, but he didn't have any grounds to accuse them. The Black Knight stared at them for a few long moments, seemingly evaluating them, before he shrugged. "As you were then." He then turned back the way he had came and made his way back through the crowd to his horse. @@Yoshikupo, He approached where he left the other pair of strange individuals, "So, you were saying?"
  22. @@Jellal Fernandes, The Black Knight heard a commotion across the market and saw a large man holding up a smaller man. Certainly nothing good could come from that. "That doesn't look good." He started making his way through the crowd, easy given the crowd seemed to part before him. Him looking like a knight likely helped in that regard. He folded his arms across his chest as he approached the hold up, "Alright, what's going on here?"
  23. @@Yoshikupo, The Black Knight looked over at his horse then back at the pair, "We had a hunch, but it seems we were on the right track with you two. As to Midnight here, there are quite a few things different about him from a typical horse, and yes he's been traveling dimensionally with me. His armor helps in a few of the same ways yours do if that answers your question." Midnight's helmet was designed to hide the fact that his eyes were much larger than the typical horse's
  24. @@Yoshikupo, The Black Knight looked away from the neko and back towards the pair. "In my opinion Celestia is the least deserving of any thanks here, at least my Celestia wasn't. You have the speech pattern of a typical Equestrian and given the others here don't look much like you two I'd hazard a guess that you two aren't exactly from around here. Perhaps we have more in common than I had initially anticipated." Midnight gave a slight smile, one that would only be noticed if anyone was looking at him. It certainly confirmed a few of his suspicions at least.
  25. @@Yoshikupo, The Black Knight gave a slight bow, "Forgive me, I neglected to introduce myself. I am the Black Knight, though the name likely means very little to you." @@Child Of Darkness He looked over where Banner had come from in an attempt to see what she was referring to, the glowing orbs where his eyes would be in his helmet seemed to narrow, "Something that seems to be more than it looks like?
