  1. Personally, I love the show but have a bit of a love-dislike thing with the fandom. I've seen and met some wonderful bronies that make me want to be half as good people as they are. A few of my brony friends at way better people than I could ever hope to be. Then there's those who are as vicious and volatile as the Anti-Bronies and they make me want to hang my head in shame. And then there's the "extreme" bronies. To be honest, they are a grey area for me. I don't know any personally, but I have met and seen some briefly at the previous Anime Expos I've attended. And in all honesty they didn't seem like bad people. A bit obsessed with the show maybe (and I'm not one to talk, really, given my growing pony merchandise collection), but not bad. The cosplay doesn't really bother me, and neither does carrying plushies (as I've noticed a few have complained about here) because c'mon, those plushies are adorable. I wouldn't carry my Pinkie plush around in public during non-con times, but that's me personally. I get embarrassed easily. As others have already said, every fandom has its moderates and its extremists. Hell, I can easily draw parallels between the general anime community and the brony community; they are really alike from my experience. From shipping wars to crossplaying, character nicknames to talking about the show almost all the time (or at least referencing it), there's so much similarity. And how do we really draw a line anyways as to what is considered "extreme"? What is extreme to some may not be to others and the varying combinations of traits that people claim make one an "extreme" fan can really blur the line. Other than dedicating one's life completely to the show (and that's probably extreme even by extreme standards, whatever they are), there's really no definite line for extremism; it's all just up to what each person likes and dislikes or is comfortable with that makes their definition of extremism. I'm comfortable with the cosplaying, crossplaying, cuddling plushies, buying the toys and other merch, drawing, music-making, analyzing, shipping, fanfic writing, wearing pony shirts/accessories, constant lurking/chatting on forums, and daily referencing/talking about the show aspects of the fandom, so those don't quite reach the extreme line for me. R34 bugs me and I refuse to go looking for it, but that's not quite extreme either as it's really par the course for most if not all fandoms. Same with clopfics; no fandom can escape the lemon bombs. And waifu talk (then again, the general anime community may have had some influence on that with me). The only thing that makes me think "extreme" is holding a real-life wedding between yourself and your waifu and whatever else I can think of that passes that. And even then I only think it's quirky or oddly interesting, but not creepy or disgusting. Maybe I'm just weird like that. I'unno. Feel free to TL;DR if you want.
  2. Ahhh it's good to see her back! I know it really shouldn't be much of a big deal, but this is Derpy! The only reason she exists at all is because a slight animation error was noticed and spread like wildfire, becoming the pony that everypony knows (take that, Rarity!). Some bronies probably make too much of a big deal out of her absence, but either way I think it's nice to see that she's back. And if you don't like her, just go ahead and ignore her. Is her just existing really that much of a personal injury to you? Anyways, yay Derpy, glad that she's here to stay.
  3. @Scootalove Augh, my heart did NOT need that! Bad enough I was watching the Japanese dub of Stare Master earlier... On another note, I have never seen anypony lose so badly as Mr. Cake is right now. I feel bad for him, but I also wanna laugh.
  4. Other than the cliche stuff like hand buzzers (can't believe people still fall for that thing), spicy chewing gum, shock pen (people know better than to ask to borrow pens from me now), and coins super-glued to the pavement? There is this one favorite Halloween special of mine. See, my costume is a black robe with a hood that completely conceals my face through the use of a thin black cloth that I can see out of fine. It also comes with a glasses-like thing that looks like glowing red eyes when viewed from outside the hood. Also black gloves but those are a minor detail in this. What I like to do is, in places where lotsa people pass by, during a suitable lull I find a good place to stand and stay there, sometimes for up to thirty minutes. I stay completely still, long enough for people to think I'm a decoration. And when a nice, big group of people come up... I scare the heck outta them. Sometimes instead I follow them for a bit, scaring them when they realize there's an extra person in the group. It's all very fun, for me and the people getting scared. I try to avoid scaring little kids though, and mainly target older kids, teens, and adults. It's all fun. Muahaha.
  5. OH I remember this! It wasn't until after I jumped onto the 'net after watching the episodes did I realize the potential dirtiness that potion would cause. And it is all hilarious. Well, except the R34 stuff, but I try to stay away from that. Bleh. Anywhoo, lovin' everything about this piece and it makes me break out into uncontrollable giggles every time I see it. Especially the messy mane and tail. Oh dear Celestia the messy mane and tail...
  6. And we all remember what happened when she tried to (or had to, rather) make dresses. Hoo boy do we remember...
  7. Studying for finals, plus cleaning for the holidays. Hmm, no, I've got plenty of free time! ( T▽T)

  8. OhholysunshinewhydidInotseethiscoming?!?! I-It's fine, I didn't need to sleep anyways... Good piece, though. Really good. And with that I've hit my Pinkamena limit for the next... week or so.
  9. Oh oh oh oh oh a GIVEAWAY?! Sounds like my kind of fun! ...Seriously though, count me in, please? I like the sound of the known prizes. And a Pinkie Painting can liven up anypony's home!
  10. Ha, well, I do realize that was rather silly of me wasn't it? Sorry, I tend to get a bit sensitive and overthink things. And I worry endlessly over whether I offended someone or not. My brain is weird. I gotta get more used to giving criticism without overthinking about reactions. >< Anyways! I'll just go on and try again. For starters, the angle thing? It really can work either way, as is or with the angle set properly, Raising the horizon line is also a good idea, though when comparing the angle of the close-up stands to the one in the distance it still feels fine, so feel free to experiment and see what feels better if you ever decide to try redraw the piece. Which I absolutely recommend, as I've found that making a few reiterations of the original piece may lead to you finding one that is better than the first. I must add that the angle of the lowest shelf of the pie shelf feels like the back of it is rising higher than that of the stand its next to. The top of her mouth is a tad to high; almost vertical, it feels. Might want to lower it a bit or round out the corner a little as it feels, well, rather sharp. (This part, honestly, is pretty much personal preference considering differences in art style. Again, experiment and see what works best for you. Every artist has their own tastes.) I'm pretty sure that's all I have to say right now as, again, I love your piece. Whatever piece you come up with next, I'll be sure to critique to the best of my abilities... and try not to become overly anxious and overthink things again.
  11. What a great improvement! It's always fun (for me, anyways) to look back through old drawings and be amazed by how far my skills have progressed. I still have yet to draw pony-related artwork though, as no inspiration has struck me yet, but when it comes... I bet it will be horrid. At least until I become more comfortable with their anatomy and form. On the other hoof, the fact you were able to draw that second drawing so quick definitely is a sign you are developing, or have developed, a style you are comfortable with. Bravo! ...Course I'm also jealous because I'm still trying to find a consistent drawing style that's comfortable for me. Cuz I can't draw realistic either.
  12. Okay, this brought a big ol' smile to my face. I'm sitting here, looking closely at your drawing, and I honestly cannot really find anything to criticize. Well, actually, just noticed something. Given where your horizon line is placed, the viewing angle of the tops of the pie stand and its shelves is off. We shouldn't be able to see the tops like that. Other than that though, which I only noticed after doing some close scrutiny, this is a fine piece. Well done! EDIT: Aaaaaand after looking at it again, because it's just that nice, I have come to the conclusion that you can ignore my previous statement. I dunno what I was thinking, but it looks fine despite my, er, nitpicking. Sorry about that. Again, good job, I'd love to see what other drawings you'll make.
  13. Is it just me, or am I not very active at all? =P I'm the pony nopony should know! XD Though I bet I will once I get more settled in; still getting used to being part of a fandom forum (*^▽^*)
