  12. I've seen ppl on social media defending Melanie all day- I think it's awful. Melanie didn't deny her actions, and only stated that Timothy didn't say "no" (which was said), but: If they didn't say YES, you do not have consent.

The thing is, how do we know for sure how it went? She didn't say no, she didn't say yes. What if it was a heat of the moment event that both parties were okay with? I'm not defending Melanie, I'm not defending Timothy. It's just that only they can know the truth and it's up to them to come out for it. We can't know anything for sure until the truth comes out, and that's the difficult part.

That's true, but I'm more inclined to back the victim in this case, especially when consent was not given and Melanie did not deny that these things happened.

  22. There are low quality friends that yes, you will lose- but if they're not quality friends, don't stress it. However, not all high school friendships are meaningless. There are the few you will find that will be the closest people you have, and I couldn't imagine losing them. Even if you end up going to different colleges, try to hang out with them sometimes. The ones who are there for you and make you feel loved and welcomed are keepers. I'm prepared to lose a good 90% of my friends after high school, but I already have loose connections to them as I don't care for them or their friends much because of who they choose to hang out with and they're relatively immature. I do have a few that I absolutely cherish and I am not going to allow those friendships to fade even after it's no longer just convenient to be around them. They're the ones who showed me the light when I was recovering from a tough spot in life and those friendships are definitely not meaningless. Don't expect to keep all your friends, but hang on to those who mean the most to you.
  23. No. Atleast, not for the foreseeable future as I continue High School and eventually college. I tried a relationship, and it's a lot of commitment- especially if you're independent and your partner is less so. It's hard to get some time to just be alone for a bit, especially long distance (as weird as that sounds) when you have things you want to do and a person wanting you around more-or-less all of the time, and it can be suffocating. A lot of people in my high school are like this, and I thankfully know to avoid those types now, but relationships in general require a lot of commitment and sacrifice on your personal life. I'm busier than ever this year with classes that require more work, I'm constantly working on debate stuff, and I have more of a social life which I don't want a potential jealous partner ruining. I want to have fun in high school, and I'd rather just remain friends with girls I like, which is easier in multiple ways, and I don't want to risk losing their friendship by accidentally screwing up our relationship if we entered one. Maybe in college. Maybe.
  24. tomorrow my dentists get to try and find the crack in my tooth again, oh joy
