  1. I'm an agnostic atheist, I don't believe in a God/higher power, but I'm not going to say I'm right, because I may not be. I'm fine with religious people so long as they don't push their beliefs on me and don't use religion as a tool of hate. I was religious up until 8th grade, life experiences and things that happened led me to abandon religion as a whole. My mother still doesn't understand why I don't believe, which does get tiring trying to explain- so I've stopped trying to tell her why.
  2. for some reason i've had a bitter attitude all day and idk why

  3. Goodnight everyone!

  4. Hello and welcome back to Music Monday, where I discuss songs/albums/artists and explain them! Today I'll be going over a softer, romantic song that I find to be one of my favorites in this band's discography. This is I'm There by Hey Violet. Lyrics: This song is about falling in love when you aren't usually the type to do so, and trying to convince the person you're in love with to give you a chance and be together. It's a great song to listen to when you find yourself falling in love with someone, and are scared of how things might turn out if you confess your love. I must say I'm never like this I'll break it down so you don't miss My point is that you got something I've been hopin' and lookin' for a real long time So I'm not gonna waste it Rena starts out the song by admitting that she's never usually like this- as in falling for someone, and breaks it down for them. It's made clear that this person she is attracted to has something special about him, or she wouldn't of fallen, because she isn't like that a lot. Rena is hopeful and has been looking for someone compatible for a long time, and she doesn't plan to let this spark of love go to waste. In between the heart and mind So much lost in so little time I know a word can be spoken And then a world can be opened up And faith reborn And then we'll never waste it The first line here, 'In between the heart and mind', is a relate-able situation many people find themselves to be in when in love, me included. People don't lie when they say that love blinds you, as you do let your heart win and your logical thinking takes a step back. And in love, a lot can be lost. The word that Rena mentions, of course, would probably be love or the phrase "I love you" as when those words come out, a world does open up, and give people faith in love, and the 2 people in love aren't putting the faith in it for no reason. So if you don't wanna be alone And I just want a heart to call my own You just have to say the word And I'm there I'm there Cause no one wants to be alone And feelings like this they need a home You just have to say the word and I'm there I'm there The guy Rena is trying to get doesn't want to be alone, and she wants someone's love to call her own. They're in a situation of not telling eachother their true feelings, and Rena is relying on him to say those words and she'd be by his side in an instant- once again a very relate-able situation. The 2nd half of this chorus is general truths about life: No one wants to be alone, and the feeling of love needs another person, or, a 'home'. Stand still don't give me a sign I'd love to think I'm yours and you're mine I'll be wherever I'm needed Wanted or even deleted Blind or all things clear However you want it At this point, Rena is willing to do anything for this guy she is so clearly in love with. She wants it to be a real relationship, and no matter the stakes, she doesn't mind it anyway the guy wants it, whether blind or clear. [Chorus] We can go we can stay We can kill yesterday We can laugh we can cry We can live never die Separate or unite Let our souls just collide and give in Give in…. She wants to forget the past, have fun, laugh, cry, act like they're going to live forever- a typical teenage relationship. Rena is telling this person to give in, as she believes their souls will collide, or fall in love. [Chorus] Breathing out and breathing in The pieces of what we'll begin Whisper truth or drown it out We'll build it up or break it down There's not a lot of meaning to these lyrics, but it's spelled out clearly: There are pieces to what will begin, and it'll either be broken down or built up. -- While this song has less in-depth meaning than others I've covered, I still find it to be a beautiful love song that many can relate to. If someone needs a beautiful, slow song to vibe to- this is it, especially when you're in love. It's got a nice guitar backing and restrained vocals to create a more or less common love song, but I still believe it has uniqueness to it and pulls it off well enough to be on my Music Monday series. -DuskSong
  5. Not feeling like making a blog post today- MM#3 will come next week!

  6. I agree, and I will read more on the crash as soon as I can, it seems like an interesting event, waiting out the traffic jam from an early dismissal in my car. Net neutrality is an attempt at enforcement of freedom through regulation of ISP behavior, I would like to see a system where the people are more involved in deciding the outcome of it such as congressional decisions on it. Im hopeful for change and improvement, but I do worry that if and when we no longer allow the FCC to be the ones to decide the fate of internet what will happen when special interests come along, including lobbyists such as ones that work for these big ISPs. I'm idealistically hoping for a fair and open internet if that route is taken, but we also need to make sure that the safeguards you want do not have any lobbyist involvement that would threaten the structure of an open internet that we strive for. On a side note, it's really interesting to see the different viewpoints on how to go about protecting the openness of the internet and not having it devolve into mud slinging like so many other online debates.
  7. I agree with the majority of what you stated here, but I do want to clarify on if it was regulation that caused the 2008 crash, when Bush was set on deregulation. Everywhere I look points to the deregulation being a cause, just curious about where you heard that viewpoint from. Edit/Addition: Im not trying to have a pessimistic view of a free market, there are down sides and up sides to a completely unregulated market and there are lots of consequences when businesses run completely free. I did look up more on the 2008 crash, it seems like there was fault on both banks and the government, but my knowledge on the subject is limited. I do agree with congress putting safeguards in place but still, a lot of congressmen and women do not support the types of protections we strive for and that again leads to even more issues when it comes to keeping big ISPs from screwing us over like they continue to try to do. While there are still representatives that do not do a good job at representing the people, I wouldn't put too much faith in congress either.
  8. Goodnight everyone, thanks for the fun conversations today!

  9. Hayley Williams with blue hair. Paramore is great and Hayley Williams' and her blue hair was the best and don't even attempt to say it wasn't because that's false lol

it can get bad at times in the pit, but the times where u get a real intellectual and non-mud-throwing talk going, it can be fun

  13. I try my best not to polarize the situation with party lines, considering I'm independent of staple parties myself. I don't think the FCC is eager to fuck over consumers, I think Ajit Pai is relatively ignorant of the whole situation because his talking points are proven wrong again and again. I love the idea of state and local run internet, and I'm sure there's many that agree, like in Colorado where they defeated Comcast's evil bill to ban the state from having city run internet. That's a big thing ISPs should be and probably are afraid of- people taking control over the internet. I get that it would be unreasonable for ISPs to create infrastructure where you live, it would be a waste of money. I also agree that our communications infrastructure needs more money to work with. With our current situation, in my opinion until the wheels can start turning and the country turns to city and state run internet, NN should be upheld so big ISPs can't fuck us over while they still have the ability to. However, if and when we achieve the idea of lots of America using locally built internet- there's lobbyists and governors and mayors who could try to pull similar things like big ISPs have, the only difference being that we can vote them out of office- but who knows how those events will turn out. I do believe the internet should be in the control of the people, but it's a long and bumpy road with lots of twists and turns to get to a point where it will run smoothly without outside influences. Because even with locally run internet, what happens when bribery and special interests comes back into the picture and someone wants to pass a bill allowing paid prioritization or a special interest group funds a politician that may try to pass something to speed up, lets say, their businesses' news website, while slowing down other businesses' websites in the area? We'd rely on the local government to listen to the people and be stuck in the same position we are with the FCC right now.
  14. growing up is bittersweet

  15. hard times, gonna make you wonder why you even try, hard times, gonna take you down and laugh when you cry

  16. hey look its the free degrees guy again lol

  17. I totally agree, and I think it would solve a lot of these issues. The scary thing is that current ISPs are pretty corrupt, and Comcast even lobbied to shut down a city from running their own internet for obvious reasons, but they failed. What I want to see is a government that will subsidize the creation of small ISPs across the country to allow new competition so that current ISPs start playing fair and then we can loosen up on regulation, because the monopolies will no longer be there to screw over the country. So definitely, new ISPs are a great fix to our current system, but it'll be a long time until it happens so retaining Title II protections is important because the big ISPs will only continue to hurt us, and that's something Ajit Pai fails to see.
