On this day 35 days ago, the wackiest game in baseball history, starting on July 4, ended in 19 innings at 3:55am Eastern Time the next morning. It was nineteen crazy innings of rain delays, a Keith Hernandez cycle despite not starting, catcher Gary Carter squatting the whole game. Oh, and in the eighteenth, a pitcher named Rick Camp, who hit .074 in his career, hit his only career home run on a two-out, 0-2 pitch to the shock of everyone!
Almost forgot. At 4:01am (six minutes after the game ended), the Braves had a real fireworks show, waking up residents under the fear that Libya was attacking the city.
