  1. @@Silver Stream., @@Unlikeable Pony, @@Overlord0909, @@Silver Staff, @@Nuke87654, Actually, Simon caught a little loophole in what Celestia stated. In other words, naturally-born alicorns existed, may still exist outside Equestria, or may live in secret in Equestria. The Journal canon of Luna and Celestia being naturally-born alicorns remains intact.
  2. We'll be getting another soon. Nobody knows if it's going to be as good as Inspiration Manifestion or as terrible as Princess Spike. We'll see.
  3. I want to comment on this part of your review, Batbrony, because you pick up an excellent point bout his character. One of the biggest problems in the show is how DHX often doesn't have an idea on what to do with Spike. Everyone and their grandmas and grandpas know about his sucky roles in his episodes. Even in secondary or tertiary roles, usually the slot he performs best, he swallowed the Inconsistency Pill. This episode really shows how much he wants to help her, but sometimes can't, yet doesn't make him look dumb, incompetent, or both. His friendship with Starlight was the episode's biggest highlight and the biggest reason why I've grown to like it. Like her chemistry with Sunburst, her chemistry with Spike felt very organic. It wasn't thrown in in the last second nor poorly paced. Time was spent to make the whole A-plot feel like a story and not a virtual checklist. Haber writes a really good Spike and Starlight, and TCr only proves this point further.
  4. The Crystalling feels less like a M6 or Twilight episode and more like a Starlight episode. Anypony else feel the same?

      ponylaces

Yeah. The episode focused more on Starlight's plot, but I actually liked it. It's nice to have an opener focusing on a different character.

      Mesme Rize

Yeah and i am really okay with that. If you want to establish a new character as being important, you need to do that.

    3. Wind Chaser

      Wind Chaser

It was between her and Sunburst. Sunburst felt a lot like Season 1 Twilight, which was very enjoyable to me. The Mane 6 were pretty much baggage and I like how Spike has moved into a role as a sort of Twilight surrogate when she's absent while keeping many of his childlike tendencies.

  5. Decided to give The Crystalling my preliminary grade: B-/B. May go up or down upon future watches.

  6. Not at all surprised to see you relate to SA here. The humor works because it's a situation we can relate to; we can sympathize with him here. I wouldn't do that. If the show does specifically state it, you can criticize it for disregarding its own continuity (The Journal of the Royal Sisters is considered part of the show canon). If it doesn't work, you can always mark it as a canon divergence AU.
  7. I gotta disagree here for the reason Simon posted earlier. Journal of the Two Sisters stated that naturally-born alicorns do exist. So just because some characters are born alicorns doesn't mean ponies who became alicorns feels cheapened.
  8. I like it, but dagnabbit, Part 2 carried that damn Idiot Ball! TCE’s citizens, that baby's loose power is penetrating through the castle. Rather than run away, they treat it as some kind of spectacle?! *facehoof* The best part was the tandem between Spike and Starlight. He's usually at his best as a supporting character, and this is no exception. Starlight's growth, nervousness, and belief she let Twilight down felt very natural for her. Sunburst may not be able to do as much magic as he thought he could, but his concrete knowledge of it shouldn't be taken for granted. I'll have to rewatch it to gauge the quality better, but for now, not all that bad.
  9. *facehoof* The Crystal Castle is being blown apart, and they're treating as some spectacle?!
  10. I think I'm getting used to FH. BTW, I think every parent, especially fathers, can relate to Shining Armor.
  11. I really like Spike's characterization here and his interaction with Starlight. You can tell he views her as a friend and wants to help her any way he can. Could be his best characterization of the show, if it all goes well.
  12. 'Tis a special day when your birthday is on the same day as an FIM season opener. happy birthday! :D

Thank you very much, DQ :D And it shall be.

  13. Downgraded a S5 episode: What About Discord? (from D to F).

    1. Cwanky

      Cwanky

the theme behind that episode was so vague and confusing. Its almost as if they tried to undermine Discord's virtue by playing up his negative traits. Make New Friends But Keep Discord was pretty bad too however.

Looks like Discord has become the new Spike. How embarrassing for the God of Chaos.

It's so sad cuz i liked that episode :D

  14. 'Cause The Magic Inside's nominated for a Daytime Emmy, I'm playing it. Damn, what a great song! <3

I love "The Magic Inside", I've listened to it so many times. One of the best songs on the show. Even outside of the context of the show its a fantastic song

  15. Earlier today, the Daytime Emmys released nominees for specific categories. The Magic Inside from The Mane Attraction is nominated for Outstanding Original Song in a non-drama series. The Daytime Emmy website is currently down, but they published a PDF of all the nominees. (Thanks, mrx1983 from EQD for finding it.) The Outstanding Original Song (Non-Drama) category is in page 105. The Magic Inside is extremely inspirational. It crosses the boundaries of pony and emotionally captivates the audience through its lyrics and score. It's not one of FIM's best songs for no reason. Ingram deserves to win an Emmy; hopefully, he gets it this time.
  16. Bob Uecker, great broadcaster but TERRIBLE hitter, hit 14 career home runs, three of them off Hall-of-Famers: Gaylord Perry, Fergie Jenkins…and Sandy Koufax.

  17. Yesterday, North Carolina enacted an anti-LGBT law banning pro-LGBT ordinaces throughout the state, and Kansas's "religious freedom" (read: homophobic/transphobic) bill is now put into law. Disgusting! The ACLU'll sue the hell out of 'em.

    1. Megas

      Megas

I love how they keep disguising homophobia as "religious freedom" as if it'll some how magically change what it actually is

  18. I'm not a member, but I'll definitely think about emailing 'em. Could be a bit of both, but it could also be a matter of expense. Last I remember, East Harlem isn't one of Manhattan's more expensive areas. Albeit isolated from most public transport, neighborhoods like Hunters Point (today's home of the Pepsi-Cola sign) would be a great place for an outdoor meetup.
  19. Contact the Bronies NYC leaders and hand them every single link relating to how terrible East Harlem is, including crime rates, news articles, and anecdotes. Having a brony meetup in one of E. Harlem's most desolate areas — just a few blocks from a dead bus depot — is a stupid idea, and I'm dumbfounded that this came into fruition!
  20. @@Fhaolan, Your evidence, while very valid, doesn't quite quell parallel universe debate. The EQG 'verse timeline can be faster, doesn't have to completely match, and can crumble into the pony world. The only purpose for a parallel universe is if it's a self-contained reality coexisting with the other. Pedestria's reality is completely different from Equestria, but they exist perpendicularly with each other. I'm not sure about the breezies' home (though they treat the portal as some kind of shortcut rather than a gateway to a whole new world ), but Tartarus is a part of the same world as Equestria. DHX got lazy and executed their worldbuilding very poorly. EQG1 established that both Equestria and Pedestria run at exactly the same time. One day in Equestria is one day in Pedestria and vice-versa. Of course, when the film stated it, the first set of gigantic plot holes pop open.
