I think it's time we accepted that G5 isn't going to be as good as G4.
Still way too early to say that.

Way too early to tell. Make Your Mark only had one special so far and still have eight episodes to air. Tell Your Tale’s much more frequent, and it looks like it’s beginning to hit their groove.

No. Applejack is the Bearer of Honesty because she will tell you the truth, whether you want to hear it or not. Likewise, Rainbow Dash is the Bearer of Loyalty by being extremely supportive to her friends. During times when needed, they’re there to help in their own unique ways.

This is the Mane Five at their very best. When someone screws up, the others are there to help them out. They went more than out of their way to cheer Pipp up and recreate Maretime Bay Day as authentically as possible, and as such, shared memorable moments together.
*applause* Bravo!

It's alright. The only drawbacks I noticed firsthand were the animation, lighting, and story taking a really long time to set up. The animation wasn't as consistent, but on the whole, it was tolerable.
The conflict took a really long time to get going. Only about the twenty- to twenty-four-minute mark did the tension begin to display. It also didn't help that while Zipp was rightfully concerned, everyone kept secrets. Yeah, sure, there's the Bay Day Festival to worry about, but something like the egg washing up ashore really didn't need a "I gotta keep it a secret from the ReMane Four" subplot; cut that out, and the plot would've stayed the same.
I also have questions about how getting along meant keeping the Unity Crystal intact. When Izzy, Sunny, and Pipp were at their most creative and harmonious, the Unity Crystal was really at their best, and I'd argue right now that it's the best moment of the special. That said, not everyone is going to get along. There will be tension between individual ponies and between friends. Not everyone is going to tolerate others' presence. Xenophobia, racism, and being judgmental towards others are dead wrong and don't make for a healthy society. But anger and sadness are normal. I wonder how or if they'll address that. We'll have to see.
I do like the…
Spoiler…ending with the evil alicorn. It's the first time that we've seen an alicorn be sinister, so I'm curious how things will go.
On the whole, a downgrade from ANG, but not too bad. Maybe a re-watch later will clear things up or change my viewpoints.

Compared to the rest of what was shown so far, the animation here is smoother and more refined. Also, the joke is really well done.

It’s small, but I notice when you click on either the status update or profile page, the status update text aligns flush with the avatar and not underneath the username or topic header.

Hey, Sunset actually does like bacon, after all!

Whoa-o-oh-oh! Lo-o-ove it!
This episode can be described in two words: unadulterated fun. Very cartoony, yet grounded enough to make its simple conflict believable, and Pipp overcame it! The pacing here works beautifully!
But the very beginning, the minute-long jingle, is extremely catchy and really captures the essence of not just Pipp, but TYT as a whole. A catchy tune, Pipp's sheer confidence, and extremely uplifting.

All five of them did a really good job in their roles. I got used to them really quickly.

This is my least-favorite of the first four. Very repetitive vocabulary (especially for a five-minute mini-episode). Izzy sounds a lot more like Pinkie in comparison to the other three episodes. And the moral of being perfect as you are is extremely hollow. Another couple of minutes would've helped here. Hitch being the voice of reason and Izzy's twist are nice touches, though.

This is easily the best one so far. A straightforward plot, but full of nicely done comedy to go along with great character moments between Pipp and Zipp.

This was kinda cute. It’s one thing to want to fly yourself. It’s another to teach others how to fly. Zipp’s clearly had no experience with the latter, and it showed. Watching that mom teach and encourage her kid how to fly reminded her of Queen Haven teaching her, and it helped her develop as a character herself.

The premiere isn’t anything to write home about, but it does have its nice moments. Sunny reminded herself what her father would say to her if he was still alive, and they shared a nice selfie once decorations completed.

Character designs still suck, but the animation is snappy and expressive. The four episodes themselves are a mix of good and average. This is my order so far (good, average, bad):
- Sisters Take Flight
- Zipp's Flight School
- A Home to Share
- Nightmare Roommate

Derpy, Derpy, Derpy! Clumsy and silly, yet carefree and wholesome. She’s best pony for a reason.

Explain to me how twilight being crazy and brainwashing ponies is a masterpiece?
I don't like Lesson Zero for not being my cup of tea, but I can explain why it works so well.
- Twilight Sparkle has various ticks, one of them being organized to a fault. If something isn't organized or out of order, then she overthinks and feels like she needs to correct. Obsessing with Mrs. Cake's cupcakes provides excellent foreshadowing of not just her downward spiral, but every single event from that point forward.
- Whereas Twilight descends further and further down the rabbit hole, Spike helps provide a cooler head. When she went to that dark point that required outside help, he alerted Celestia. At the time, it was his best appearance to date.
- Twilight's mental breakdown is further accentuated by all the visuals throughout the episode. Not just the illusion of ponies laughing at her, but how much everyone seemed to overreact. Rarity's fainting couch. Fluttershy wrestling the bear to massage his achy back. AJ and RD nuking an old barn on the former's property. Every action by them was over the top and had no connection, but because Twilight's report deadline was today, they accidentally helped her descend into her personal hell.
- At the time, Lesson Zero was the show's darkest episode, exploring Twilight's mental breakdown from her own point of view. Like Larson with Return of Harmony, McCarthy sprinkles well-done black humor throughout here, which balances the tone.
- Twilight is rightfully portrayed sympathetically. We see the strengths of her character, moments that trigger her signature flaw, and other moments throughout that only worsened the matter. From the very beginning, Twilight thought being tardy was a really big deal, and all she wanted was someone to help her complete the assignment on time. Telling herself to keep her composure didn't work.
- The RM5 laughing at her for it only made things exponentially worse. That's why she enacted the "Want It Need It" Spell. It was a last resort: Writing that friendship report on time MATTERS to her, and no one took her feelings seriously. If they spent a couple of minutes believing her and helping her, none of this would've happened. The RM5 share the blame, and rightfully so. That's why they recite the lesson at the end.

The biggest thing I'm proudest of is my weight loss. Since the start of last year, I lost nearly 100 pounds, and I fully intend to lose more.

If the source is legitimate, then this is probably the best direction G5 can take. As great as FIM is, G5 needs to also stand out on its own. ANG's entire purpose is to prove that the Mane Five can live up to the legacy that the Mane Six began millennia ago. Sunny Starscout, herself, embodies their mission. Reintroducing the Mane Six carries the risk of them overshadowing the M5.
But…
On 2022-03-07 at 5:58 PM, CloudMistDragon said:Absolutely no G4 characters returning at all, I'd also be somewhat skeptical of that even if someone actually working on the show (people on the show staff have made mistakes before) were to say that.
Aside from the source being anonymous, this is the most suspicious part. I can expect, perhaps, an appearance from Discord, Celestia, Luna, Cadance, Flurry Heart, Smolder, the Terrible Trio (if their statue's still intact), etc. Spike's presence may overshadow the group. But nobody from G4? Not so sure.

The show. Bronydom is absolutely fun to engage into, but the show is the "mane" star.

The very last episode very clearly show that they arrange to meet up once a moon at least. Any answers the episode didn't show, you're free to think of with your own imagination
This.
The Mane Six meet at least once a moon, so they can rule Equestria together and stay connected regardless of what's going on with their lives.

Discord's G5 design revealed in MLP #5:
in Official MLP Comics & Books
Oooh. Discord looking older and more Rip Van Winkle-ish is a direction I didn't see coming!
At this point, Discord being in the actual show is up in the air. This is IDW Comics' doing.
