    Day #27: Favorite Movie character.

    There isn't any contest: Tempest Shadow. This scene (despite the movie conveniently forgetting that Twilight can teleport) shows why.

    Following a traumatic encounter with an Ursa Major that resulted in loss of her horn and a permanent magical disability, no one came to help her, making her cope alone. At the time, she still didn't come to terms with her cracked horn. Despite being the Storm King's second in command and one of the most powerful and skilled fighters in all the land, all that power reminds her of the internal scars that still lingered. So why does she want her horn back so badly? To feel normal again. Despite going after it completely the wrong way, she has a relatable goal.

    There's more I wanna talk about with this scene, but that'll be for tomorrow. Stay tuned. ;)

    Worst food: Grits. Bland, disgusting, they-make-raw-tofu-more-flavorful grits. I have no why any Southerner would like to eat something that even the deep fryer can't make good. Worst drink. Any "drinkable" alcohol. I don't care what alcohol it is, whether it's an American beer or some special wine, I'm gonna hate it and wear it in pride. But the worst thing I ever tasted? This shit! WHY THE FUCK does cough syrup have to taste like dead vomit?!

    Recently saw the dumbest MLP petition of all time: a petition to literally redo S9 from the ground up. The "Save Tree/Library" petition from S4 was nuts, but it was a troll petition. This feels like a genuine effort to mandate Hasbro to fix a season for a series that's not only finished, but a season that doesn't need much fixing in the first place.

    S1: After some rough sports early, it got going once DHX found its way, ending the season with a fantastic run. Party of One's excellent, Best Night Ever the best episode for several years. S2: Continued from where S1 left off with a stretch of really great episodes. Sisterhooves Social, which concluded this stretch, is the best episode that season. Additionally, this season feels a little more ambitious compared to S1, either due to comfort, the lack of E/I rating, or both. S3: Within a dull, rushed season, four really good episodes, including Dash's apex in Wonderbolts Academy. S4: Despite not being so high on it as others, give them credit for having the confidence to push forward mature themes and messages. RTM's of not letting a bad experience cause you to abandon your best quality is excellent and remains my favorite from this season. Also, Testing Testing is magnificent. S5: The highest of the highs here. Cutie Map, Slice of Life, Amending Fences, Lost Mark, and Re-Mark are among the show's best. Throughout this season, the show left its mark in really impactful ways. Starlight being reformed and welcomed by Ponyville and the Mane cast, Gilda getting her due, SoL with a really solid story and moral, Diamond Tiara plucking up courage to confront her abusive mother, and the CMCs capping Part 1 of their arc with their marks. S6: DHX's writing of Spike, giving him the momentum and consistency he sorely needed. S7: Some of the best episodes of the series takes place here. Glideance, M&R, Shadow Play, PERFECT PEAR! After a lull with some average and the series' final atrocity (F&M), Haber's return as an editor really sparked the show, as it went into a "Both-Sides-Have-a-Point" direction that made the conflicts much more interesting and fresh. S8: The dialogue here's much tighter and wittier. Dialogue-driven comedy and storytelling liven the conflicts. Second half had a stretch of episodes that (minus one) were from good to outstanding. The five-episode streak from Road to Friendship to Sounds of Silence is the best run FIM ever had. Dash has her two best episodes of the series. Cozy Glow's outstandingly written. Also the most fun I ever had watching the show; I LOVE this season! S9: The villain trio earned their stripes as the most dastardly beings in the Realm. Purposely spreading rumors to divide the tense relationship between the three pony tribes, starting a coup against Equestria, stealing Grogar's magic for themselves, kidnapping Twilight's friends, threatening to maim Spike, and attempted murder. A large chunk of S9B's about the characters becoming what being their Elements don't expect them to be, but aside from 246G, they range from serviceable (Trivial) to great (Dragon Dropped). Sparkle's Seven's hilarious and clever. Big Mac Question's one of the best of the series. Last Problem magnificently closes the series.

    Late White Sox owner Charles Comiskey was a first-class scumbag. If he didn't act like a dirty, cheap bastard, gave his players fair deals, not force his players to pay to wash their own uniforms, and not sit ace Eddie Cicotte out for about a month so Comiskey didn't have to pay a hefty $10K bonus for winning 30 games, the players wouldn't have hated him so much that they would throw the 1919 World Series. It's a disgrace that he's in the Hall of Fame.

    Day #26: Favorite fanfic.

    Comments: This emotional roller coaster explores the depths of Twilight's time while at the School for Gifted Unicorns. This story feels like it belongs to an episode of Friendship Is Magic and strikes readers at the core due to how personal and deep Twilight's childhood scars are. Simple to understand, yet very deep in its emotional details. I first read this story a long time ago, and it's just as great now as it was back then.

    And Challenger of the Brave’s done! The last bit between Cass and Rapunzel was great and saved what was, until this point, boring and contrived. Cassandra sees a shot at being respected and appreciated, and a Rapunzel waltzing on in and handling it all swimmingly (and adjusting without her frying pan) makes this conflict personal to her. Yeah, she didn’t technically win the contest, but got the respect she earned.

    Will watch Cassandra v. Eugene tomorrow! :)

    Honestly, Challenger of the Brave is really bland so far. Despite a couple of good jokes, Rapunzel having not one little clue over the potential consequences of taking part in the event despite being one of the best really takes the naivety to the next level. The gag with a Eugene blowing that horn throughout the stadium was funny at first, but aside from Pascal’s accident, wore out its welcome quickly. Really, not having any clue that blowing that horn being being ejected from the section makes him look dumber than Soos.

    Day #24: Favorite outfit.

    Design matters, especially in a show like this. With the show having its own color palette and style, the crew did a splendid job trying to make the settings and characters as aesthetically pleasing as possible. The ponies themselves are excellently designed, because you can really detect who they are just through their silhouettes.

    The Best Night Ever's animation and color theory are outstanding, and it's seen easily in their dresses. But of the Mane Six's, this one's my favorite.

    Everything screams Rarity. A golden crown wraps beautifully around her horn. One red ruby in the same shape as the one in the crown hangs over her neck, matched with an amethyst bowing  the end of her mane. Her red-purple shawl matches the trim of her crimson dress perfectly, with little beads of gems sprinkled in rows in between yellow stripes. Her big goal? To bond with the prince, and how to show that better than gorgeous glass slippers with a blueish tint.

    Hoity Toity's right. It's amazing! :grin: ENCORE!

    Way too many people don't understand why people say "Black Lives Matter." Since the start of the slave trade, Black people have been treated as worse than second-class citizens. Today, lots of people, especially whites, see Black people as less of a human and more of a commodity. This is especially the case when it comes to policing. Some of the first policing were slave patrols. While slave patrols don't exist anymore, the mentality remains. Police brutality has been an ENORMOUS problem for centuries. Unfortunately, no real change takes place. Black Lives Matter was created in response and why it still has a massive force. When folks say "All lives matter," they literally warp and handwave why people say "Black Lives Matter." "Black Lives Matter" means "Black Lives Matter, too." "All lives matter" isn't grounded into reality and gaslights to people that Black people are on an equal level as white people. Black people are fucking tired of being ignored, pushed aside, tokenized, and treated as sub-human, and especially tired of an injustice system that systemically enjoys punishing people of color more than whites.
