John Williams has been a mainstays in Star Wars music ever since the first movie 42 years ago. But now that he's getting up there in age (he's 87 now), I wonder if The Rise of Skywalker will be the end of an era for him as far as Star Wars is concerned.

@Jeric Excellent. Thanks, J!

During my time of being a brony around season 4, one thing I regret nowadays is not fully trusting the show runners at the time. At times, I was often too hard toward S4 and some of its episodes, notably Equestria Games, Maud Pie, Flight to the Finish, and Twilight’s Kingdom. At times, I enjoyed the more controversial Season 3 more. Pondering back, I was quite cynical and divisive toward it… *sigh*

@Odyssey Maybe so. I was quite critical of Twilicorn at the time, and I felt sourer of her as the season progressed. Now I feel like I took that time for granted. :/

Just after midnight here! Merry Christmas, bronies!

tfw FIM wrote a better series finale than Game of Thrones…

Came close to needing a tissue as I watched this:

Last month, I mentioned my hypothetical National Baseball Hall of Fame ballot, and I was down to a select few. I selected my tenth guy sometime ago (defensive wizard Omar Vizquel), and my list is as follows ("+1" means I didn't vote for him last cycle):
- Bobby Abreu
- Barry Bonds
- Roger Clemens
- Derek Jeter
- Andruw Jones
- Scott Rolen
- Gary Sheffield (+1)
- Omar Vizquel (+1)
- Billy Wagner
- Larry Walker (+1)

I think I'm gonna be that brony that literally doesn't understand why anyone would dislike or detest The Last Problem…

QuoteBecause I don't like how it rips the mane 6 apart despite the beginning of the season saying they'd rule Equestria together?
There's no continuity error here. The Mane Six promised to rule together. The question with TLP is how that'll happen. She's moving to Canterlot, they won't. She had no idea how to make a solution, until she discovered one. It takes effort to make a friendship, more so to maintain it.
QuoteBecause I don't like seeing the mane 6 becoming old versions of themselves passed their prime?
They may look old, but still well in their prime. At most, fifteen years likely passed since the coronation, making all the characters around 40 at most.
QuoteBecause I don't like how implies that Twilight will outlive her friends despite Meghan in the past saying that wouldn't be the case?
She tweeted this out while still being the show's leading editor. I can't say for sure if plans changed once Haber and others assumed control, but it looks like it. Honestly, I'm glad they went with this direction. It makes no sense for Equestria's first successor of to not live a very long life. Celly and Luna ruled and lived long, and so can she.
QuoteBecause I don't like how the whole thing just feels depressing?
The only part that truly felt depressing was from when Twilight began to realize that she may have to rule on her own until the end of the second act. When the third act aired, there was still a bit of bittersweetness in it, but it's confident that the harmony of Equestria and beyond will continue to spread. Luster believed friendship was pointless because she assumed Twilight and Spike fell out. Now that she was proven wrong, she gets to learn the magic herself.
-
QuoteThe question with TLP is how that'll happen.
That’s really dumb. Premiere showed they were willing to work her no matter what it took. Besides the angle with with the princesses retiring and dumping everything onto Twilight is dumb and coming out of nowhere, this kind of conflict should have had the whole season dedicated to it instead of dumping it in the middle of the finale while the rest of the season had its thumbs up its ass wasting away on dumb shit no one asked for
QuoteThey may look old, but still well in their prime.
You may have been on to something if they all didn’t have bags under their eyes
QuoteShe tweeted this out while still being the show's leading editor. I can't say for sure if plans changed once Haber and others assumed control, but it looks like it.
They’re well aware when ideas, episodes, etc., are unpopular, and this was well among the biggest, because it’s gonna make the future look really bleak. This should have been left ambiguous at best, or ignored completely. They should have kept what McCarthy said in mind instead of ignoring it because Haber thought he had better ideas(which he never does)
also the whole “rule that they get to be together once a month is also really dumb

Just saw a trailer for a horror movie called "The Grudge," coming early January.
*breaks out pen and paper* Anybrony suspecting that's another clichéd, jump-scare-ridden, milquetoast "horror" film?

@Odyssey For a moment there I thought you were referring to the invisible girl, Toru Hagakure
-
@Cwanky Well she does seem like the kind of girl who would love to sneak up from behind and gives others a spooky spook

Wishing every Jewish brony here (including those who aren't) a Happy Hanukkah!

Having a presidential fundraiser in a billionaire family's wine cave with expensive crystal glasses and wine was Buttigieg's biggest campaign mistake. With right- and left-wing populism in vogue nationwide, I can't believe he thought this was even close to a good idea.
Admitting to wanting a Justice Anthony Kennedy as an non-partisan judge or his campaign faking Black endorsements were terrible enough, but at least he can make a weak mea culpa to moderate, older white voters. He can't defend this boneheaded fundraising plan without looking like a hypocrite.

My rankings for tonight's Democratic debate. Winner, meh, loser.
- Bernie Sanders: Not afraid to call out the issues or come back to the issues. Since his heart attack, he's been more relaxed, more personal, and takes things seriously while showing more of his personality. He's shown his personality in other times this cycle, but he really showed it tonight. And he currently has the momentum. His best debate performance so far.
- Andrew Yang & Elizabeth Warren (tie): Surprise surprise, Yang got the least amount of time! But he was substantive and did well with the little he had. And Warren had her best performance since her third debate, in particular calling out the corruption and Buttigieg for taking part in that corruption.
- Amy Klobuchar: The surprise winner, IMO. She did a really good job. Relaxed, feisty, and gave Buttigieg a run for his money quite a bit. The fact that she called him out for dismissing congressional inexperience and used herself and her colleagues as examples of crossing the ideological line to get things done was a great point and her best moment in her debate performances so far.
- Tom Steyer/Joe Biden (tie): Steyer had the better performance than Biden, but didn't stick away from the reputation of carrying his campaign as a vanity project. Surprisingly, Biden did much better here compared to his other performances, but looked bad in being called out for taking billionaire bribes (from 44 of them) and his crappy healthcare plan.
- Pete Buttigieg: Already explained here. He may be the least wealthy, but pandering to the billionaire class with his milquetoast moderate position and getting called out for it..
-
I think Buttigieg is tonight's Dem Debate loser. Billionaire fundraisers for politicians aren't well-liked at all, because they accurately represent how politicians are out of touch with real issues working people face. Those pictures featuring him in that wine cave are a perfect microcosm of politicians pandering to the elite. He got called out for it and never delivered a good reply to recover from those criticisms.

After a ruling against a British woman who wrote transphobic tweets while working at an poverty-fighting think tank, JK Rowling went full TERF.
*sigh* After seeing her follow the likes of those such as the late Magdalen Berns, I’m not surprised, yet I can’t shake that disappointment and disgust towards her now that she confirmed to be a transphobe. Her contempt for transgender women, men, and the nonbinary is now official and public. Disgusting.

JK's response here is $#!+headed... I mean how the f*** can she go and DEFEND transphobic BS like this? And the fact that she pretends she ISN'T makes it all the more sickening. F*** off, transphobic b!+c#. I had little respect for you anyways. The books are worse than the movies, anyways. JK deserves any harassment she gets over this... I think every transperson who is able ought to go picket her house.
And also, an ANTI-POVERTY think tank? Is that code for a think tank that tries to say that all poor people should go die a horrible death or what? Sounds like the most despicable thing I've ever heard of.
-
QuoteAnd also, an ANTI-POVERTY think tank? Is that code for a think tank that tries to say that all poor people should go die a horrible death or what?
Should’ve been clearer on that. The think tank she was in fought worldwide poverty and income inequality with a goal of a healthy global world.
I don’t know much of it, but it might be a reputable source: https://www.cgdev.org/

Have to agree with him and the OP. It doesn't matter if you feel the impeachment process was partisan or not. The #1 assignment of anyone in Congress is to defend the U.S. Constitution and uphold the rule of law. Trump clearly abused his power by trying to get oppo info from Ukraine, and he obstructed Congress on multiple occasions. On both (weak) Articles of Impeachment, Tulsi Gabbard and every Republican (or Dem) who voted anything other than "aye" determined that their own agenda mattered more than maintaining accountability upon the president. Tulsi's silence, in particular, is more deafening by using a cowardly "present" vote, thus determining that not choosing was the better "choice." Disappointing.
Should she win the nomination, I'll vote for her. But for now, she lost my primary vote.

@Alastor And she's the only one who did. Everyone else caved to the Establishment in one way or another. And I am 99% sure that Bernie's going to do the exact same thing for hopefully good reasons, and it will disappoint the f*** out of me.
The only thing that matters here is WHY he's being impeached, and it's all wrong. The only acceptable vote without any extenuating circumstances is no vote at all. If it were for the RIGHT reason, I'd be on her tail in a heartbeat. But since it's a hackjob, I have to give her credit.
-
If he does, hopefully he will at least distance himself from the establishment so he does not appear to be just jumping on some bandwagon~
-
@Alastor In his case, it may hurt him if he doesn't vote yes. But hopefully, he'll give a satisfactory explanation of why he would say yes, otherwise my support for him will be a bit weaker because it's simply the wrong vote. He has distanced himself from the Establishment a good deal already, so it is no dealbreaker. Especially because of how he has distanced himself from them. He's gone to the left of the Establishment and actually showed he has genuine concern for people. Like actually getting behind Medicare for All, unlike every other candidate in the race including Yang AND Tulsi, and really standing up to the "Choicecare" $#!+.

Getting away from ‘Merican politics for now. I can’t resist not listening to Magic of Friendship Grows; it’s an awesome, wholesome, hopeful song of how the Magic of Friendship transcends generations.

Yes, Cenk Uygur's very brash and not exactly the most pleasant person to watch/listen, but he isn't afraid to change his mind and admit being wrong. The fact that he disavowed his previous (and racist) denial of the Armenian genocide (propaganda that he was exposed to for so long as a Turk and during a time where research wasn't readily available), mentioned several times over the last few years (including this year) that it happened, and is embarrassed by his older misogynistic blogs (that cost him his board position in Justice Democrats) shows some of his growth. He's said that the Cenk back then was a "Republican idiot," and he's right. Obviously, he's not the same man thirty, twenty, or even ten years ago.
Regardless of your opinion of him, this smear job by the NY Times's Jenny Medina towards Cenk when he pushed back white supremacist David Duke, made him spin in circles, and embarrassed the ever-loving shit out of him is disgusting and malicious.
It doesn't matter what side of the spectrum you come out of; this is well below the NYT's supposed journalistic integrity that they became reputable for. Anyone who follows TYT and/or gives a damn about journalism understands that Cenk Uygur doesn't play nice when smears or right-wing pandering fly, especially to those he cares for. Give him a reason to box, and he'll put on the gloves.
How ironic that the NY Times would release such out-of-context crap about one of the loudest and most assertive left-wing progressives outside of Congress, yet they have no problem pandering to the Military Industrial Complex, Islamophobia, anti-Palestinian colonialism, the cult-right "Intellectual Dark Web," and cowardly "both-sidesing" Trump's racism.
When you publish "alternative facts," you imply you're scared of people like him or politicians with close ties to him (i.e., Bernie, Warren, Ro Khanna, "The Squad"), and that he'll use both his bulldog mentality and the bully pulpit to help those in need and shame those who manipulate their power. Thanks to that "article," the Times (which he's called out repeatedly over the years) gave him, progressive media journalists and pundits like Michael Brooks, Sam Seder, and Krystal Ball, and his followers all the extra dedication to push him to win the special election.
Beware the dog, corporate media, 'cause his bite hurts as much as his bark.
P.S.: BTW, if you wanna watch Cenk's hour-long interview challenging that anti-semite and calling him out for his racism and lies, have popcorn and a few laugh tracks ready. *tsktsktsk* Quite a shame Duke didn't become a comedian, since he gave me some of my hardest laughs all year! XD
