  1. 4Kids's anime dubs were obviously not very good at all. On the other hand, I feel bad for the writers, VAs, script writers, editors, and voice directors, all of whom had their jobs lost when the execs liquidated 4Licensing Corp.

@Sparklefan1234 Surprisingly I remember their take on TMNT being really good

Yeah, the TMNT 03 series was actually really good.

  2. For a little happier politics, America's #FirstJewishPresident talking to a woman trying to form a union and Killer Mike kicking ass:

  3. Antisemitism isn’t just confined to the GOP. The 2016 DNC convention in Philly had one piece of merch of Bernie. It’s disgusting and virtually foreshadowed Trump’s election win.

I know I'm giving benefit of the doubt, but is it possible the artist wasn't being malicious and they just aren't very good?

      Dark Qiviut

@PiratePony I don't know if it's malicious or not, but the fact that this official DNC merchandise was apparently inspired by Nazi propaganda and how the DNC showed disdain for him makes me lean negative.

  4. The DCCC continues to chew on its own foot. A few years ago, they dumped plenty of resources to help anti-impeachment dude and NRA buddy Jeff Van Drew over progressive Tanzie Youngblood in NJ's 2nd Congressional District. Now he may switch to the Republican Party!

    DCCC, fuck you!

  5. How ironic that Washington Examiner writer Tiana Lowe, who celebrated one May Day by "honoring" her Chetnik grandfather (an ultra-right, genocidal military terrorist group that collaborated with the Nazis) and took a picture of herself with that neo-Nazi Milo, accused Senator Bernie Sanders of being "anti-semitic."

    ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!!

He's a goddamn Jew who lost half his direct family in the Holocaust, you fucking ghoul!

I'll let David Klion and Jordan Uhl fill out the rest of my reactions towards that right-wing, racist goy:

@Cwanky Frankly I can't stand Cenk and I don't know why other people on the left actually support him still. Not only is he a toxic influence on the left, he's absurdly divisive. He deserves to have his candidacy go wrong in every way possible. Though that is absurdly ridiculous reasoning considering that in the process she must clearly forget other obvious facts, like you know, BERNIE BEING A JEW.

"He's changed" Yeah like Democrats change. Leopards don't change their spots, and Cenk is no exception. Cenk is a bad candidate to represent progressives, period. Kyle Kulinski should consider running for something instead, because he actually is principled and not going to shove his foot in his mouth at every other opportunity.

    3. Dark Qiviut

      Dark Qiviut

@Le Angel Dust Ironically, Kulinski unequivocally backs Uygur, defended him yesterday in the video below (this all happened before Khanna and Uygur revealed how Uygur asked them to retract), and called out both the Sanders campaign and online left for, paraphrasing, giving in to corporate media's divide-and-conquer mentality. At the end, he told his followers to money-bomb his campaign.

    4. Here No Longer

      Here No Longer

@Dark Qiviut Which is one of my biggest disagreements with him. It's like he doesn't seem to understand what the issue is with Cenk, and even most of his viewership ignores the obvious problems with his candidacy. To their credit, there is the question of "who else?" that has no answer in this case (because he's the best of a bunch of bad candidates), but at the same time I really think Cenk is a lesson for the left to learn from. The lesson being that you can't just throw a bunch of random candidates out there and see what sticks, and also to VET extensively. There's a reason why Bernie's campaign has done markedly better than Cenk's has. That being that Bernie is a man of integrity, Cenk is certainly not.

What Kyle doesn't get here is that it isn't the left itself that's being divisive towards Cenk, it's Cenk himself who is divisive. That's why he's pretty much forced to make the concessions he has. He's the most divisive candidate ever backed by the Justice Democrat movement (which Kyle is one of the founders of). I mean how do you defend anti-semitic statements and the denial of a genocide? It's really hypocritical to say that Cenk somehow DOESN'T apply to these rules. So, yes, I am saying there Kyle is being a hypocrite and he seems not to realize it.

  6. Corbyn has been the subject of so many disgusting lies over the past few years, and thanks to that and a bloodlust for the white-nationalist-centric Brexit, and now he’ll go down as one of the best Prime Ministers that the UK will never have. What devastating results. :(

    1. JonasDarkmane

      JonasDarkmane

This is one of the most uncharitable status updates dedicated to the election.

Claims people were uncharitable and dishonest towards Corbyn. Proceeds to call Brexit or any association with it "white-nationalist".

Look in a mirror for a moment and honestly ask yourself who is the bad guy~

  7. Finished Mary Poppins Returns! I don’t think it’s as good as the first one, but it holds up really well, especially the musical numbers. It’s really good, and I really enjoyed it. :D

  8. Mary Poppins is fantastic and may be Disney’s best film. Now I’m watching the sequel, Mary Poppins Returns. Fingers crossed if it’s good!

@Sparklefan1234 I enjoyed it a lot. Not as much as the first one, but it's a great sequel. ^_^

  9. Wishing you a happy birthday! :D

  10. Two of the most influential people in the history of baseball are Babe Ruth and Jackie Robinson. The former for bringing baseball out of the Black Sox scandal and revolutionizing the game, and the latter for forever breaking the color barrier.

#3 is the late, great Marvin Miller and by far the most important man from the 1970s onward. The first head of the MLB Players’ Association, his impact on the players has been unparalleled.

    1. Under his tenure, the old Reserve Clause was replaced in favor of Free Agency. Originally, baseball players were stuck with the team until they were traded. In fact, two players played the 1975 season despite not signing a contract, leading to an arbitrator striking down the Reserve Clause. Thanks to free agency, they can go wherever they want.
    2. When he was the head, he enacted the sport’s first Collective Bargaining Agreement. Today, the MLBPA is one of America’s strongest unions.
    3. When he became the new MLBPA head, ballplayers were paid putridly. How badly? Average annual salary/value was $19,000. It wasn’t uncommon for them to work one or two winter jobs just to make end’s meet. When he retired in the mid-1980s, the AAV was $241K.

He was MORE THAN due for the Hall of Fame, and I’m SO happy he finally (and posthumously) made it!

  11. Finished watching Mary Poppins last night. It’s really easy to see why this might be the best Disney movie of all time. The plot’s simple, but magnificently done. The characters are extremely endearing yet fully fledged. The camerawork and special effects were way ahead of their time, and they mostly hold up today. But the music, oh my God! The musical numbers are magnificent!

As a child, Mary Poppins was the first (mostly) live-action film I actually enjoyed, and though it’s been a while since I’ve seen it, I have fond and vivid memories of it as if I saw it yesterday.

  12. Happy birthday! :yay:

  13. Two elected to the Baseball of Fame by the Veterans Committee: the late Marvin Miller and former catcher Ted Simmons! :D:wub:

  14. I had never watched Mary Poppins before. Tonight I'm watching whatever I can and will resume tomorrow. :yay:

Thanks so much, DQ! And for your well-wishes last year as well. Everything has been going great for me, although I sadly have grown farther and farther away from this site. This is probably the longest I've gone before logging in again. I value all the people here I knew and my times here very much, and I always end up feeling the urge to check in again even if it's been a year or more since I did anything here.

I hope everything is going well with you! :)

  16. Happy birthday, Button! :D

  17. Maybe it's a combination of the presidential election season and FIM being over, but I've started to become a little more distant of this place. :( There hasn't been much for me to comment and reply, and my interests are quite narrow, so the MLPF has become a little quiet and boring. >_>

I've felt the same way, to be completely honest. :sunny:

  19. The fact that Tumblr’s platform was (and possibly remains) so goddamn venomous and that it lost about a billion dollars in value before it got sold reminds me why I’m so happy to leave and deactivate it last spring! :yay:

I haven't visited that particular site for what feels like a long time, TBH.

Tumblr lost its appeal for me after I stopped watching Youtube MLP episode reviewers a while ago.

Honestly I only use tumblr because of cute stuff and fandom stuff. And I’ve got some friends there. 🤷‍♂️

  20. When a Republican or corporate Democrat is more than happy to accept bribes from Big Oil/War/Money/Pharma, vote in favor of their own interests, and then turn around to around and ask "How do you pay for it?" when someone like The Squad, Sanders, or Warren proposes actual policy or bills that actually HELP people, they're saying, "I'm too corrupt to do anything about it." It's a strawman that reveals they're bought and paid for.

  21. "Why are Democrats fighting each other?"

Dude, it's a primary. It's the candidates' and our jobs to vet them and vote for the one that best suits us. The 2016 Republican primary was ugly, but they all united behind Trump. The 2008 Democratic primary between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama got personal, but the DNC rallied behind Obama.

Until this week, the 2020 Dem primary has actually been too nice. Aside from bits here and there, there's been very little confrontation at all.

*meanwhile, I'm waiting on the 2020 Libertarian primary*

  22. Single-payer medicare for all is important for a thriving democracy.

    1. It turns healthcare from being an "accessible" privilege into a public good financed through our taxes.
    2. Way too many people don't go to the doctor out of fear of being in debt. When that happens, they wait too long before finding out they're sick, and they die. With single-payer, you don't have to worry about a bill aside from maybe parking. You get the service without worry of co-payment, deductibles, premiums, out-of-pocket costs (I read too many stories of patients taking out their credit cards in the hospital room!), and surprise bills.
    3. You don't have to be afraid to go to a doctor that's out of network. Under M4A, all doctors, hospitals, and clinics are available no matter where you go.
    4. It's been shown in example after example after example of how most living in America are one illness or accident away from a lifetime of medical debt. Nobody has to depend on setting up a GoFundMe page to pay for medical bills. America's barbaric for-profit system is KILLING people, and it's disgusting!
