Good points Spoon. Also, while it's debatable how much control they had over the series in the first place, MLP's also changed its head honcho person twice, I believe. From Faust to McCarthy, and from Meghan to Haber. If that's the case, then there's certainly been a little more chaos on MLP's end. Plus it's been airing much longer than any of those shows have (in quantity of episodes, at least). S'harder to make something consistently good for 6+ seasons.

Still definitely prefer SU and GF to MLP. Jury's out on Star Vs.

I wasn't aware Meghan was no longer at the helm. Is she focusing her energies on the movie? I have the vaguest recollection of that being mentioned somewhere.

Indeed, it's difficult to keep a setting and its characters fresh after 6 seasons. GF benefits from hitting all of its points and not dragging out for more than 2 seasons; SU has enormous amounts of world building left in store. Those go hand-in-hand with the creative freedom given to the showrunners and writers.
