    I'm depressed. My friend told me something really sad. He's to be sent away to a mental institute, and he's not mental.

      So his mum caught him cutting himself from depression? Depression is a mental condition that can get you institutionalized. As sad as it may be for you, it might be for the best.

      But institutionalizing him is very likely to make the situation worse, would any of you really want to be in a mental institution? Those places are horrible, nobody that has ever been to one of those has ever had anything positive to say about them. I have gone through all kinds of anger, depression and emotional issues and was able to overcome this stuff without being thrown in an institution. Self abuse is not good but institutionalization should only be done as an absolute last resort.
