Ah, seems I missed my 10 year anniversary. So much has been going on that I forgot.
...10 years.
I wonder how the fandom is doing these days? Obviously it's not as big as it once was, but I'd like to see it stay strong. It's quite likely to be around my 11th anniversary of actually starting to watch FiM. I never thought to mark the date of course, so it's hard to be sure, but I vaguely remember that I started in February of 2013. I spent months being only an observer of the fandom, watching fan videos and reading the occasional fanfic. I saw videos of conventions, mostly BronyCon, that I desperately wanted to go to. It's unfortunate that the conventions have become scarce and my desire to go scarcer by the time I had the means to do so. Sorry, teen me, you never got the BronyCon trip you wanted.
Eventually I had to find a place I could actually talk to people about it. I'd learned of the concept of being a "closet brony" and went looking to see how other people would approach the topic with their families, to hopefully gain the confidence to be able to start getting MLP merch. I found a topic on this site about it, and made my first post. I find it embarrassing now, but who doesn't find their internet posts from their early teens to be embarrassing? I never properly told them, by the way. It seems they passively found out? I ended up with a MLP cup. That's about it.
This place was essentially my internet home for a while. It was probably late 2015 where I started fading, but I could never truly let go. I hold onto those memories more fondly than any real home life I've had so far. Season 5 was still interesting to me, so I stuck around during that. By season 6 I had mostly lost interest in the show and started feeling like everyone I knew had left here. I struggled to find new friends and faded from the forums.
I can still never forget these forums, this fandom. I find myself constantly drawn back to the familiar songs and videos from my time here. I still get Winter Wrap-Up and Discord stuck in my head constantly. I still love coming back and seeing the familiar faces around the site.
I may not be around anymore really, but I will always quietly cheer on the fandom from the side.

Serious question, because I saw it a long time ago. If there really is a new no politics rule, when was it added? Scared to find out I might've messed up a while back by not knowing the rules changed. Not that it matters too much I guess since I never got in trouble, but still

My position was one of the cynical users that had a laugh at pointing out the flaws on both sides. As I said, both parts were dumb, but surprisingly the lefties were the most viceral all the way. What did these guys expect with treats and such still riddles me, but hey, we didn't lack laughs.
this is the most "centrist" thing i've ever read. "both sides bad" but siding with the right lol
I don't plan on sticking around enough to make new friends here tbh.

Aw, this is still here? That's pretty old now. I barely ever was staff lol. Just a part of the Golden Oaks Library thing, though I hardly did anything for it.Heck, I didn't even get the former staff tag in the forum! It's kinda sad. I enjoyed doing it when I had a chance to. But my parents decided to bring a new child to life, and... man, small children are so noisy for such small creatures. In the end, I just didn't get a proper shot unfortunately.
How's the Library doing, anyway? I haven't checked up on it in a long time.

Judging by the URL https://buffy.mlpforums.com/monthly_2018_10/Alignments.png.5893c466fb1f9ba23e6b323f4592e7e0.png it looks like October 2018. Makes sense with my avatar at the time too.

Okay, I need some answers. Even if you think I’ll disagree, I want your perspective anyway. I had to look up what everyone is freaking out about, and I think I found it.
From what I can see, cities are being overwhelmed by riots (not protests, actual riots) and Trump wants to back up the police with the military. This is apparently tyrannical to some.
Now I would totally see the problem if it was peaceful protests. People have the right to protest. But it’s NOT peaceful. Things are burning, people are dying and local authorities can’t seem to get a grip on things.
So if the police can’t stop it, and sending in the military is wrong, what SHOULD happen (in the opinion of whoever reads this)? Just allow things to keep spiraling?

Look. I'm tired of arguing about this.

Potential blood under the hidden NSFW posts, but you need to manually choose to look at those.

Is certain all cops are in the wrong because they somehow think that Lieutenant Somebody from precinct Nowhere is implicit in something he’s never dealt with or seen. You can’t stop something you don’t see.
Yes. I am certain. Because this happens everywhere and no one speaks out against it. The few who do lose their jobs.
I'm not saying someone from Washington could've prevented something in Florida.

and I don’t know what those people are saying to those police officers.
Does it matter? They're not doing anything, and if a few people are making empty threats it doesn't justify tear gassing an entire crowd.
Edit: From what I can tell, a cop grabbed a sign. The protester tried taking it back. Another cop pepper sprayed. The rest of the cops followed in their violence.
Quote“Give into us and we’ll stop destroying stuff.” Uh, no. Screw you. You stop acting like a psycho and then we’ll talk about your grievances.
People tried talking. It didn't work.
QuoteIf putting a pause on protests is needed to keep people’s lives from being actively destroyed right this second, I am fine with that.
No. There will not be a pause.

Is “unlawful violence and intimidation against civilians for political aims” not what the police, national guard, and soon potentially the military are doing? Are they not terrorists under this definition? And unlike the protesters, there are clear organizations causing these problems and causing actual violence against protesters. People have been blinded, brain damaged, and killed by police during these protests.
If they were just arresting looters and people burning and destroying things, it would be different. Instead, they're escalating and fighting the protesters. They're even using undercover cops to make the protesters look bad. They're pepper spraying and tear gassing innocent people. Shooting at them. Including people that aren't part of the protests. There's a video of cops and national guard patrolling an area that wasn't part of the protests, and shooting at people that are just standing right outside their own home.
Edit: And in fact, it's not just them doing it. Remember who is commanding them. Remember who is commanding the national guard and the military. They are terrorists too.
Yes. President Trump included.

Well here's a copy/pasted thing from reddit, covers it pretty well
Quote5 DEMANDS, NOT ONE LESS
1. Establish an independent inspector body to investigate misconduct or criminal allegations and controls evidence like body camera video. This body will be at the state level, have the ability to investigate and arrest other law enforcement officers (LEOs), and investigate law enforcement agencies. Use of lethal force will trigger an automatic investigation from this inspector body.
2. Create a requirement for states to establish board certification with minimum education and training requirements to provide licensing for police. In order to be a LEO, you must possess this license. The inspector body in #1 can revoke the license.
3. Refocus police resources on training & de-escalation instead of purchasing military equipment and require LEOs to be from the community they police.
4. Adopt the “absolute necessity” doctrine for lethal force as implemented in other states.
5. Codify into law the requirement for police to have positive control over the evidence chain of custody. If the chain of custody is lost for evidence, the investigative body in #1 can hold the LEO/LE liable.
These 5 demands are the minimum necessary for trust in our police to return. Until these are implemented by our state governors, legislators, DAs, and judges we will not rest or be satisfied. We will no longer stand by and watch our brothers and sisters be oppressed by those who are meant to protect us.

Except PETA is an actual organization with rules and leaders and all. Anti-fascism is just anti-fascism.
You don't hear "antifa" in the news until suddenly there's unrest and "antifa" is the easy blame. That's where the negativity toward it comes from. And now it's the rioters that are "antifa". Except, oops, everyone is a rioter in the eyes of the police. See the video I posted in your status update thread. It was peaceful until the cops decided it shouldn't be. They escalate. People react. Over and over again.
