why does it have to be so difficult to get a job when under 18 in the state of massachusetts
i'm 17. my school is online so time doesn't matter. there's literally only one place that's close enough that i have a chance at.
i just want to have money to spend on myself so i can finally have things without having to rely on my parents, which may or may not get the thing, and if i do get the thing, it'll be months later.
hell, i've been asking for an adapter to play guitar hero on my laptop since march and i still don't have it. birthday passed in july and i got nothing at all. if i could just get a job i could save money for these things
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
i don't even know if i can get a job at the one place i can safely walk to that may hire me that i can actually do. idk what they require. i'd have to go in and talk to someone but idfk
i'm probably just going to walk there one day because i know that my parents won't take me
they'll keep saying "next week" or something
i've needed my clothes washed for a month and it just got done today
a fucking month
i've been wearing the same clothes for two weeks because it's all i have left, other than jeans. and i'm not wearing jeans to sleep. this is my last shirt and it has a hole in it. i can't wear this to the place.
but is it even worth it? i'm pretty sure you have to graduate high school to work there. do i want to walk all the way there just to find out it was for nothing? it's not a short walk. 1.8 miles, or 35 minutes to walk there. 70 minutes for 3.6 miles to and from every day. guess it's not too bad. maybe i'll start losing weight finally.
but that's if i can even get the job. their website didn't tell me anything, and when i tried asking them on twitter they just linked to their website.
wwell fuck
i just checked google and found the answer immediately. the answer is no. i have to be 18. and graduate highh school.
fuck my life
i have to wait another couple years to get a job
because there is nowhere else
and i don't have a car or anything
the next option is dunkin donuts, which is fucking 2.3 miles away
or i could cross a highway and get hit by a car going to work
those are my only two options
nevermind
i give up
you win, life
you've put me in an impossible position
nice

Projects that X has considered and rejected include a space elevator, which was deemed to be currently infeasible; a hoverboard, which was determined to be too costly relative to the societal benefits; a user-safe jetpack, which was thought to be too loud and energy-wasting; and teleportation, which was found to violate the laws of physics.

QuoteIn February 2016, Astro Teller, the X "Captain of Moonshots," gave a TED talk in which he described the X approach to projects. Unusual characteristics of the approach included constantly trying to find reasons to kill off projects by tackling the hardest parts first, and both celebrating and rewarding staff when projects were killed off due to failure.

i'm back because this is the only place i talk to anyone
-
I should probably avoid anywhere anyone might talk about anything Forza-related. It's become a reminder that life is going to disappoint me every chance it gets.
Same with the place I was thinking about working at.
I can't stay and read other people talking about how great the game is while I can't share that experience. It's happened too many times in my life. People having fun and talking about it while I spend every day alone in my room not knowing what to do. Now I finally thought I had something to be excited about, something as unimportant as a game... and I can't even have that.
So I'm probably taking a break from here. Idk when I'll be back. Whenever I stop caring again probably.

Just when I thought I may get a job soon, shitty laws get in the way.
https://www.mass.gov/files/documents/2016/08/wq/youth-permit-process.pdf
I need to be told by employer I'll get the job. Then get thing that employer can sign (or just bring the thing the first time, really). Then parent and I have to sign. Then I have to bring this + proof of completing 6th grade + proof of age to the superintendent of schools. Then I have to sign the employment permit in front of the superintendent. Then I have to bring the permit to employer who must keep it until I'm 18.
What the fuck. I'm 17 and my school is online. Just let me fucking work.
I can't complete the online process I was originally going to do because I have to be legally able to work there before I complete it. I'm not legally able to work there until I have this. So to complicate it more, I have to go there in person, wasting the time of:
- Me
- Mother
- Employer
- Superintendent
I don't even know if the place I want to work will hire me. Maybe they require a high school diploma or equivalent. Maybe they require me to be 18+. They didn't make it clear on their website.
My only solution I guess is to contact the company and see what the requirements are exactly. All because of this shit.
And if they won't hire me? I'm out of luck. There's nowhere else I can safely go. Yeah, there's a Burger King and a Dollar Tree. But Burger King would require me to cross a highway and to get to Dollar Tree I'd have to walk along the train tracks until I get there. Last time I checked the area by the tracks behind the stores there isn't the safest place. And, y'know... trains. All of this is still really far away, too.
There's a liquor store that's pretty close, but understandably, I can't work there because I'm not 21. That's the closest thing to me.
So that's it really. Those are my options. Either get hit by a car, murdered or hit by a train at the tracks, or the convenience store accepts me. Or, just wait, but I really don't want to do that.

well shit
i thought you only needed a work permit until 16
guess it's 17
which means i have to apply for that too now
woo

"YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY ALL TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS"
hmmm
-
yes i do read terms and conditions on important things btw
"including without limitation (i) submission of by you of resumes,"
this grammar is worrying
"(ii) submission and receipt of employment related information, training materials and other onboarding processes by and to you and from and to an employer;"
Holy shit
