  3. @ Zephyr followed alongside Sojourner as she answered his questions. He seemed a bit dissapointed, but wasn't discouraged, and know that she'd told him not to worry about asking questions, he did exactly that. "But does he have any special kind of balloons? You know... Just things he's tinkering with?" He looked at her from the corner of his eye. "A high altitude balloon perhaps?" A slight grin appeared on his face. He couldn't really contain his excitement about the idea of going even higher than was possible for him. He then turned to pathfinder. "I was also wondering, have you guys explored a temple before? I mean we can't be sure that it's going to be anything like it but I suppose if you have had a previous experience we can learn from that." He looked towards the horizon, where the mountains were already slightly in view, but sitll far far away. "Because I don't have any experience with it, and I can tell you that as excited as I am, I'm also a bit nervous..."

I could tell I'd love it within the first five seconds! And I did.

I noticed some sort-of empty spaces, if you know what I mean, around the 1:18 mark or so---measures that had some echo to them in their first repetition around the 1:08 mark and then no echo two or four measures later, but that might've been both intentional and a good thing.

The instrumentation of the piece overall seems to have changed, for the better (either the instrumentation or the rela...

      Nice!

If I may offer some constructive criticism: maybe the melody should have a slightly different instrument at about the 2:08 mark? I can tell with the bass parts at that stage of the song that it's trying to be more formidable, and it is (especially around the 2:38 mark or so), but would a resonant church organ be the right way to go there? ...Or is that exactly what instrument is there?

Thanks a lot for your feedback. I'll try to mess around a bit with your idea, see if it sounds right.

Current instruments are woodwind and brass.

Fucking brilliant... ;__; https://mlpforums.com/page/eqw-characters/_/unapproved/featherwing-zephner-r338 it's the prefect finishing touch to my character. Thank you so much!
  8. @ Following Pathfinders eye's, Zephyr looked towards the horizon as well. "I guess we're not in a hurry no. We could take the time to make plans or something..." He wasn't looking forward to travelling at the pace of two walking ponies, but there wasn't a real problem to it besides his discomfort. He'd have to get over that anyway, since this expedition could require a lot of patience. Like Sojourner had said, it could range from incredibly dangerous to incredibly boring, and he'd agreed to both situations. He just wasn't sure which one he thought was worse. "Should we just get going then?" he proposed. Zephyr couldn't help but wonder about the balloons Sojourner had mentioned. "But... What's this balloon flight base of operations you were talking about? What kind of balloons are they? And how high can they go?" He asked. He then realised how shamelessly he'd been questioning her. "Eh... I mean... I'd be rather interested to learn more about it." Zephyr had a rather strange plan in mind for a future 'experiment', and a balloon would help him grealy with that. He just wasn't sure if the balloons they spoke of could be of use to him. And besides, it wasn't very important. It had been a little fantasy of his to try and get higher than ever, and he hoped a balloon would be able to take him much higher than his wings ever could.
  9. This character is now ready for approval.
  10. @ Right, I think he's ready now
  11. Whoops. Didn't notice the comment up until now. I'll get right on that! Thanks I must agree that indeed the acquisition of his cutie mark was a little clunky, just seemed like a powerful scene. I'll try to change that without ruining it.

@@Gaviera Hey there! Your drawings are really cool and very amusing! I've got a request for you, though if you're into games I can buy you a steam of like 5-10$ as payment if you want. It's no big deal for me since I have loads of steam funds because of item trading through steam. Anyway I'd be very grateful if you'd want to draw my character. I know you'd prefer not to draw ponies, but I am requesting something from the equestrian universe. It doesn't have to be very reminiscient to the show. In fact you can do with the idea whatever you want. It would just be nice to have a proper reference for a character sheet or perhaps future comissions. What I'd like you to draw is a Gryphon. But not just a simple, every day gryphon. I've recently come up with an elder gryphon, a very kind and friendly old conductor. His name is Featherwing Zephner, based off of a wonderful man named Benjamin Zander. If you have the time go watch his TED talk, probably the first thing you'll find if you search his name and it's amazing. The quote in my signature came from him I've tried to make a reference sheet, but even though the idea is rather clear in my mind I find it very difficult to actually put it on paper. I've used a 'gryphon OC maker' and edited a few things. The results are... dissapointing, but it should get the idea across. He's a snow-owl Gryphon. Although he's very old he's keen on inspiring others, and has a very kind and compassionate soul. I'd tell you the specifics of the character, but I'd rather suggest you watch that TED talk instead if you're really interested. Otherwise, on to the scene: Imagine a conductor, in the height of a piece, in front of a grand orchestra. He's completely immersed in the music. He's loving every minute of it. His eyes are wide open and there's a grand smile on his face as he watches his own students playing the orchestra. Then comes the grand finale. He raises his hands in the air and there's an explosion of sound and music! That exact moment. The emotion and amazement, that's what I'd LOVE to see. Of course, if I'm being too specific, I'd be more than happy with any drawing at all, even a generic reference sheet one of him standing in the same pose as the picture above. Anything would be fine really, but if you want me to absolutely adore you, this is the scene that I'd like to see Imagine these two poses and facial expresions: http://tbo.com/storyimage/TB/20140624/ARTICLE/140629629/AR/0/AR-140629629.jpg http://www.tampabay.com/resources/images/dti/rendered/2014/12/0433832691_13936130_8col.jpg Really that "YES" moment. Pure extacy. Alright, that's it I suppose. Hope you draw him, and if you do, hope you have fun drawing him Edit: If you have him wear one of those formal conductor's outfits that would be great!
  15. @@C. Thunder Dash I've messed around with your suggestion, and I've found that going from F (V) to B flat (I) doesn't really sound right. However, I did come up with this for a variation on the chorus melody: vi-IV-ii-V (Returning to vi-ii-iV-V-iii (Gm7-C7-Ebmaj7-F-D7) after the V) I'm not sure if you're aware, and I myself don't know the specifics of the theories behind it just yet, but because of the use off jazz chords and mainly dominant the tonic is in a constant state of fluctuation. It's not always B flat the melody 'wants' to return to. Although I don't know that much about chord schemes outside of jazz, I do know that in most cases the ii-V-I correlations you suggested won't work because I'll have to add in a Bbmaj7, and that doesn't sound right (C7-Fmaj7-Bbmaj7) cause it causes friction with During the bridge interchaing the Eb7 and C7 works well, but it's also the way to make the chords progress back into the chorus. At least to my ears it is. To be honest with things song I've mostly just listened to what sounds right, but due to that I'm confused as to what is what. Maybe it's because I'm tired and overlooking something simple and stupid, but your ideas don't really seem to work the way you proposed them. However, they did give me the idea for a few new chord progressions, the results of which I will try to record tomorrow.
  16. @@C. Thunder Dash I think I'll be trying to finish this mostly on my own. Thanks for the offer though, and if you have suggestions please to tell! I'll think about a collab, but I don't think it's what I want @ Well it's a nice and happy tune, so that is indeed the vibe I was hoping to achieve. I hope it doesn't actually sound similar to the theme song though @ It's got similar jazzy chords to it doesn't it? My piano is also getting quite old, so it's got that honkey-tonk sound to it a bit. Also I play like a drunk man there because it was like 0:30
  17. Hey everyone! I've recently posted a blog entry in which I showed a simple and quickly recorded version of my idea for an MLPforums theme song! I thought people might be interested to see what I'm working on, so I decided to share it here as well. https://mlpforums.com/blog/2127/entry-17561-mlpforums-theme-song-idea/ I'm still thinking about the lyrics, and I'd love to see if some of you have suggestions for it. Critique on the music is very welcome, but keep in mind that the recording quality is bad because I did it with my phone. Considering it's a phone recording I think it's pretty good! I'll make sure to release some sheet music and a longer version with maybe a bridge or a longer verse soon. I'll be posting it here and on said blog, so if you want to stay tuned go ahead and follow my blog. I'd be very grateful if you did. I also will be posting other projects there, which will be more than just live shitty live recordings, but also high quality gigs with my band and some FL studio works.
  18. @ "That depends..." Zephyr said thoughtfully. He walked over to the pair and smiled. "I've gathered everything nescesary, but we might've overlooked on one tiny thing. I hope you guys thought of it..." Zephyr looked towars the horizon, in the general direction of the mountain range they were headed towards. "How are we going to get to the mountains in the first place. It's quite a walk away. I think there's a train that goes right by it, but it certainly doesn't stop there." Zephyr scratched his head and tried to visualise the maps of equestria he had seen. Indeed, there was a train track close, but if they had other means of transportation it might be a better idea. "Of course we can just walk there, but that would take us at least a full day, probably two." he suggested, hoping that his estimations of how fast they could walk weren't too far-fetched. He'd always flown everywhere, so he wasn't sure how long he'd take to cross a distance while walking.

  21. So I've decided to record one of the jazz standards I've learned. It's one that I can play for quite a while now already, but if people are interested in watching some more recordings of this stuff then I'd be happy to record more recent things. I start to mess up a little near the end because I made a mistake during my improvisation, but I don't think it's too bad. Not my best work, but it'll pass
  22. So I've been messing around with this idea for a song on the piano for a while now. I'm not sure how I'm going to turn it into a fully fledged piece, but it's already got a lot of fun things to it. I would like to hear what you guys think of it! Excuse the bad recording qualty, I'm hoping to improve that soon. Hope everyone likes it, and I'd love to hear some critique. I still need to add some vocal melodies to it, so I might put this into FL studio to mess around with it some more.
  23. If you're looking for someone who can play and record this, I think I'll be able to. It sounds pretty good! I do think that the pedal may be lifted a little more often sinds it starts sounding muddy at certain points, but otherwise it's a very nice arrangement. Well done!
  24. More roleplayers! Awesome! There's an entire section dedicated to RP check it out and see what you like. People are really nice there.you can see if others want to RP through Skype, or RP in one of the many threads over there. Feel free to add me on Skype or PM me if you have questions
