  1. Well, I am not sure whether or not this would be considered minor or major surgery. I had to get a 6 inch metal plate put into my arm with 6 screws into the bone. I crashed while mountain biking and broke both my radius and ulna where they meet the wrist. I woke up in a cast and lived off tylenol T3s for a couple weeks, so the pain wasn't that bad. The anesthetic made me feel sick for about a day, that was the worst part. All in all, don't be scared about surgery, you will always be in good hands.

@Accellerant Eh, I call em as I see them. After 30 minutes of trying to improve one of AppleJack's legs and making it a lot worse after the fact... I had to make it a joke XD

  3. I got independent soul. This thing is surprisingly accurate. You are calm and logical, but not unemotional. You are an introvert, at heart, preferring to read alone than be subjected to the crush and noise of a big party or bar. You have a few friends and family, whose presence you welcome - to a point. Even they can wear on your nerves eventually, and you need to retreat back into your personal space for a while so you can recharge. Your energy comes in bursts, after which you need a long nap or a couple of evenings at home to recuperate. You are comfortable with yourself, and reasonably confident. You want the friendship and goodwill of others, but you are not willing to sacrifice your principles in order to get it. If your close friends need something that you can provide, however, you will be the first to offer it. You are a good and sympathetic listener, and are aware of your friend's emotional states. With your very close friends, you will open up, but rarely - you don't like to burden people with your problems. At the same time, though, you are honest and are not willing to alter the truth for the sake of convenience. Among strangers you are reserved, and may resort to making jokes to disguise your true feelings. While you are not afraid of conflict, you do not seek it, either. When you are hurt or insulted, you feel that you have a choice to make. You can choose to take the up on it and defend yourself, or you can let it pass. Your decision may depend on how well you know the person, how personally you take the insult, or simply what mood you are in that day. Your friends may not always know how you are going to react, for that reason. Whatever you reaction, though, you will be logical, rational and unnervingly accurate: a measured strike. Your daemon's form would represent your calm, introverted nature, your cool logic, and your impatience with crowds of people. He or she would probably whisper ironic comments in your ear, give logical advice and try to hide his or her soft side from everyone, even you. Suggested forms: Peregrine Falcon, Snowy Owl, Snow Leopard, Siberian Tiger, Osprey. I would without a doubt be a snow leopard. That is one of my favourite animals right there.
  4. 1) I'm about 6'2 (Ha I win!) 2) I won a water polo trophy in 2007 3) I listen to classic rock 4) my favourite band is either Bob Dylan or The Beatles depending on my mood. 5) I believe my personality is a very strange mix of Apple Jack, Twilight Sparkle and Fluttershy 6) I am a Biology nerd 7) I freaking love to ski, both snow and water skiing.
  5. Hm, I just want to slightly modify one of Repsol Rave's suggestions. Cutting to the core You have a great list of possible names here, good job guys!
  6. Some Behavioural Ecology, some sketching and some water polo. What a great day.

  7. I come from a fairly strange family. By that I mean that they claim to be non-judgemental and accepting of everyone no matter what, and for most instances that is true. I know that if I were gay or anything like that, I know I could tell them and they would not have too big of a problem with it. On the other hand if I told them I watched a cartoon about pastel coloured ponies, they would quite literally think that I lost my mind. I would subsequently be rushed to some sort of a psychiatrist to 'fix' myself. While generally they are accepting, they are still deeply entrenched within the 'gender norms' of society. Additionally my two older brothers would never let me hear the end of it. I already get enough flak for not working out, or as they say "curls for the gurls." So to keep things simpler I just hide it at all costs. On the other hand, I literally do not care if my friends know or not. None of them do, but that is simply because I have never seen a point where I could bring them up. Other than the fact that I am learning how to draw by learning how to draw ponies, MLP has not changed/affected my life much, so I do not have the desire to talk about them much outside this forum. Most of my friends are rather weird people, I think weird people are way more interesting than 'normal' people and as such would most likely not give a damn whether I like MLP or not. I even have my suspicions that a couple of them are bronies.
  8. Well here is my Flitter. Sorry it is hard to see, I have to stop drawing on lined paper. Slowly improving. Wings are hard, does anybody know of any wing specific tutorials or have tips for drawing wings? Thanks guys
  9. So just tried Hearthstone. Great... just another distraction. I love strategy too much :/

  10. I have a few habits. Procrastination is by far my worst one. I also frequently get the irresistible urge to quote Monty Python in random conversations. That has won me the oddest looks because most people don't know what the heck I'm talking about. Lemon Cury? Thirdly, every time I make a post on a forum, I am compelled to check every fifteen minutes to see if somebody has commented on it (I think this is my weirdest one). Finally, after having a long day of studying, I have the habit of drinking a shot or two of scotch while watching a couple episodes of MLP.
  11. *Okay, so lets take a look at the second pony. Okay so this has a slightly different pose, shouldn't be too bad. Hmmm a bow-tie, that may be tough, but not much worse than a horn. Alright, so shouldn't be too hard... Wait... No! Wings? Wings! True story. Looks like I am learning how to draw wings XD
  12. Well, here is my second attempt at drawing Twilight. Overall, I am not too happy with it. I tried to correct some of my errors this time around, and ended up overcompensating. I wound up with this Twilight with too much man muscle in the stomach, a barrel chest and too much junk in the rump. Even if the body is too fat, I think I achieve a more correct pony shape this time around. Is there any improvement, what do you guys think? Legs are too skinny and possibly too short. And wow, I am an idiot forgot the eyelashes... oh well I am just too lazy :/
  13. Wow, the thing I love most about this community is how it is extremely inspirational, patient and nurturing. There are a lot of amazing artists in this thread. Well this thread has inspired me to try drawing for literally the first time apart from school projects when I was young. The result: this abomination. In all seriousness this is way better then I thought I could do. All it took me was reading a couple guides and learning a skeleton. The problems I notice instantly are: the body is too long, head is far too small, eyes are weird (especially left eye which is far too derpy), stomach way to flat (Twilight must be on a diet), muzzle too raised up, the ear just looks weird (too skinny?) and hind limb cutting into cutie mark (derp). I think I learned a lot and will redo this picture when I get a chance. I am excited to see improvement. sorry have no scanner available at the moment. This thing took me way too long, way too long.
  14. I completely hate the fact that Twilight Sparkle was made an alicorn and even more so that she was made a princess. I cringe whenever I see her with wings. Shrug... sorry.
  15. As I have said before in this topic both rarity and rainbow dash are among my least favorite ponies but I will defend ther character. It is true that dash is arrogant and rude, but personally I believe those traits are just skin deep. I think that, similar to Fluttershye, Dash suffers from crippling insecurity. They deal with a common problem in opposite manners though. Fluttershye is reserved and shy whereas I believe that Dash craves other ponies to pay attention to her and to think she is cool in order to validate her self-esteem. I think this is clear in the episode mystery mare do well when Dash is so strongly affected by being outshined and losing the public eye to the mare do well. Additionally I think that if Dash is as selfconceited as some people are saying that she wouldn't go to such extremes to protect and defend her friends, especially in the circumstances when doing so would force her to lose something she wants. An example of this is in episode 1 where she helps her friends instead of joining Nightmare Moons best flying team. Oh and Samurott if you are basing an argument on one line from one episode, I could give you a long list of mean and terrible things each pony has said throughout the course of the show. One line is never indicative of a character's personality. On the other hand, I have tried for a long time to understand Rarity, and I just don't think I do. Her generosity seems to contradict her vanity. This leads to a very interesting character development, but sometimes I just cannot understand her actions. In Look Before you Sleep, Rarity is extremely reluctant to help applejack and Twilight with the tree because she would get "icky." In the end she does help, but it takes her a while to decide to help. For the same pony to instantly, without question, butcher her own tail to help a distraught sea monster is hard for me to comprehend. I find Rarity's character interesting but I just can't seem to understand her because to me, she seems to act very inconsistently
  16. The reason why I dislike Rarity is that she simply conflicts with my personality. I am not arguing that her personality is flawed or bad, it is simply that I cannot relate to her at all. I am messy, love camping and working with my hands. I do not care at all about what I look like. I absolutely hate fashion (sorry) to be honest. I would much rather be a nudist if they were socially accepted than keep up to date on clothing and fashion. When I am presented with a character like rarity, I simply cannot relate to her the sheer majority of the time leading to me disliking her character. Rainbow Dash has a cool design and an in your face attitude. I think a lot of people wants to be a little like her because of her attitude. Dash is not my favourite pony by far, but it is easy to admire her confidence and courage to act the way she does. Besides, anything with Dash is 20% cooler so any argument is invalid.
  17. Thanks for the warm welcome guys, it is always nice to feel welcomed to a new site. I hope to get to know all of you around here. I have to say Ticking Timebomb that your avatar is awesome. Would you mind making one for me, if it is not too much trouble?
  18. My dear child, give in to the insanity. Sanity is predictable and dull, insanity on the other hand is exciting, unpredictable and unique (especially if there is foam frothing from one's mouth). In all seriousness, if you care about what I have to say, do not try to fit a preconceived notion of "normality or sanity." Trust me when I say most people I know are almost as weird as I am (scary eh?). Embrace who you are and show confidence, your so called "abnormalities" show your true character and why people should want to get to know you. As for me, I think the only misconception people have about me is my intelligence. Especially when I was in high school, people who got to know me, or those who would steal a glance at exam marks would often exclaim "Wait... you're smart?" I am currently in third year university studying science, and I still have that problem. In all honesty, I don't know whether to be flattered or insulted.
  19. Hey everyone, I am Golden Shield and I am new to both MLP and this forum. I am still unsure whether or not I consider myself a true "brony" but I love the show and the community around it. I was introduced to this show by a different forum, SMW central, where an outbreak of pony avatars got my attention, so I began to investigate them. Needless to say, I watched the show and really enjoyed it. I couldn't say who my favourite pony is, but it is a tie between Apple Jack, Fluttershy and apple bloom. As for information about myself, I should start by saying that I play video games, usually under the alias of "infesting." I mainly play League of Legends at the moment. I was introduced to forums through gaming clans, and have been a part of many forums since then. In forums, and in clans, I tend to either assert myself to leadership by climbing up rank as fast as I can, or lose interest and fade out in a couple of weeks. I enjoy working with inter and intra-forum relationships, resolving disputes and problem solving. I like to think of myself as a very caring person. I am confident, borderline arrogant, and stubborn as a mule. I am always sure of myself, but am also an exceptionally sensitive person. I tend to be fairly blunt and speak my mind, but I would never intentionally hurt someone's feelings. I hate fighting, and when people are hurt, but I stand up for what I believe in. I tend to be overtly silly at times and go off topic. I love to feel helpful and will gladly do my best to help with anything, just send me a PM any time (I don't bite, cough*but I may steal your spleen and sell it on the black market*cough). Well I should close this post before I start rambling. I hope to see you all around the forums and to become a part of this community.
