  1. Welcome! We are very friendly, and you should get help naming your pony in 10 seconds flat if you ask around! Hope to see you around brohoof /)
  2. After watching both KickAss one and two, I can say that I would never become a super hero ever. Even with how semi-realistic those movies were, reality is even more dangerous and out to get you. I would rather not have to ask the EMT to throw away my bloody super hero costume after I got stabbed.
  3. Well most of those villains were defeated 800-1000 years before the current time period shown in the show. So for the most part, up until the adventures of the mane 6 began, and the world was plunged into never ending war and chaos, Equestria was a pretty swell place. Most of the evils were ancient, having been dealt with ages ago.
  4. I know right! She is the most beautiful, best pony! Who in their right mind could say no to that?
  5. I would rather not have their sexualities brought up. As it is in essence a children's show. Outside of her maybe having a school yard crush, or fan girling over a girl or boy I would not move further than that. To much money at stake, to huge of a shitstorm, and not enough gain to make it worth while to Hasbro.
  6. But I am tentative to only call wars were people die "wars" in the FiM, as it is clearly meant for little kids, so there never will be war in the human sense were you have large scale bloodshed and violence, as outside bloodless DBZ fights, they cannot show violence. So I think we need a more refined definition of war for the FiM universe, as since it is largely marketed towards children, it cannot have mass scale warfare.
  7. This really was my reaction to it. I could tell from the get go that it was banking on the idea that cute cartoon animals getting torn apart in a gory fashion would get a reaction, and thus people watching. So I wasn't really shocked by it, but it wasn't anything I hadn't seen before either.
  8. Until someone official says that there were or were not, you can be sure all you want, but it will never be a confirmed fact. And not all human wars include pillaging and rape, as there were examples of conflicts called wars that had 0 deaths posted in this thread earlier. The OP asked if there had been wars in equestria's past, and the vernacular used in several episodes (and having use of the english word tank) go to show that there is a strong chance there has been. And with the changelings invading the city of canterlot in the season 2 finale, there has already been a canon showing of what one could define as a small war. And it is a show marketed for girls aged 2-11, of course there will never be any warfare on a large or violent scale.
  9. Doesn't mean dragons could not invade, as they pass through. And the show never addressed weather or not there were deaths, and if you look at the websters dictionary definition of War, death is not needed to make it a act of war, or a one day war.
  10. So this is the official fan club for the bestest Wonderbolt there is. The paragon of perfection, the pony that all mares strive to be. The fastest of the blue fast, and the best of the best. On the frontlines when Tirek invaded the kingdom, one of the first out the chute when Spike was terrorizing Ponyville. She is the embodiment of perfection, valor, and civility.
  11. Let's hope this takes off, and doesn't become a dead subsection.
  12. Oh, it wasn't a mistake. You're next..
  13. But the changelings openly invaded Canterlot. While inner pony conflicts may not occur, other races have shown the ability and want to wage battle with Equestria.
  14. Haha for the most part yes. And to get it back on topic, if Equestria is a realistic fantasy universe, then war would inevitably happen at some point. Because sooner or later, those different races are going to have a disagreement they can't hug out. An in universe example would be the hearths warming eve.
  15. The quote was meant to show how War in the human definition never changes. No matter what weapons are used, or what tactics War will remain the same. It is people fighting. Because if it changed at its most base level, then it would not be war.
  16. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/warWar hasn't changed mate, you are just arguing semantics at this point. It is always the same.
  17. The'll really need to find away to make it fresh if they want a long standing series. You can only bank of the "look, its the ponies BUT IN HUMAN FORM!" idea for so long until people stop caring. They will really need to pull a miracle outa their ass, and made a cartoon show about girls in a highschool interesting enough to keep the large audience base FiM has. The first movie ran into cliche after cliche, and for most only the fan service kept people interested. They are really going to have to pull out all the stops to make the cliche highschool setting, with teenage girls have an audience level even near were they want.
  18. Mass killing as anything more than low numbers. War is always groups of people, killing other groups. While the tactics used to wage it, and while the weaponry changes, war itself never does. It will always be people killing people.
  19. Nah, it hasn't changed at is most base. War is, and always will be the mass killing of over sapients by sapient creatures. The weapons may change, and the location may. But it will always be the same.
  20. War, War never changes. And it is inevitable that any planet that houses individual groups of sapient creatures would eventually have a war. So it could be a pony war, or a war between griffons and ponies, or a war between anything really.
  21. You stole a balloon, on free balloon day.
  22. So we do not repeat it. We teach it in the hope that the new generation will learn from the mistakes of the past.
  23. As stated in this thread earlier, you would need to make Soarin a main cast character for their relationship to really work out. In order to flesh him out enough, and to actually see their relationship grow and strengthen in a realistic fashion we would need to devote a large amount of screen time to it. Otherwise it would just be another "off screen" boyfriend, that only shows up when and were the plot demands (normally the night before the BIG SENIOR YEAR DANCE) and it would feel rather weak, forced, and useless.
  24. It depends on what you define as wrong. If you mean really common social mistakes, and slipping up and getting into an argument with a friend then the ponies can do wrong. And they can harm each other's feelings. But if you are talking about wrong in the context of say genocide or murder than they cannot do wrong, as they exist in a childrens show, and that sort of event would never occur in it.
