It doesn't matter, Brony IMO is a term for a fan of the show regardless of gender.

We're all part of the same fandom and don't know why some try to separate because of gender.

You are right, it seems most people except that at this point.

However I have been told I can be a Brony because of it so I dont really know.

IMO the only way a girl cannot be a brony is if she wants to called a Pegasister or other name.
