He's a huge faustfag and an asshole sure, but one thing I can appreciate him is that he's one of the few fans ballsy enough to actually send critiques and ask questions on an episode in a critical manner to the staff on Twitter. It's one of the reasons why I think he's so hated as he's directly critical to the staff and their work.

For one thing, his criticism that the female writers are all shitting on Spike while the male writers are writing him well is a load of bull. Dave Polsky is among the top offenders for Spikeabuse and Merriwether Williams probably gave Spike one of his most respectful portrayals in the series, if only the rest of the episode hadn't been shit.

While ignoring Meghan has been the best writer for Spike as he usually shines under her writing, Merriwether wrote his best portrayal in Dragon Quest, while Dave Polsky is one of his worse writers to be written under as you said. Like I said, he's just an asshole who gets by due to his bravery to voice his outlandish opinions out.
