In life, there are a lot of things you will have to learn the hard way.
  • Interests
Mainly Lua scripting at the moment. I also want to learn foreign languages. I noticed that interests also tend to change from time to time, especially if you've actually experienced them.

  1. Lol, you are letting your mom dictate what you can and can't play? How old are you by the way? Jk. You don't have to tell me how old you are 'cause that's none of my business. But anyway, I think that just proved my point that not many people here even know about or even play MTA. This thread will get buried and I'm probably the only one here. http://i.giphy.com/4pMX5rJ4PYAEM.gif
  2. Multi Theft Auto is a modification for the PC version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It's adds multiplayer to the game and there are servers you can play on. You use a scripting language called Lua (MTA only supports Lua 5.1 and I think it supports Lua 5.1.5, which is the last version of 5.1) to create your gamemode and you can only have one gamemode on at a time. Maps are made using the built-in mapeditor resource. Servers are made using resources, which always contain a meta.xml and then your scripts and/or other folders and files. I feel like I'm the only one here that knows about or plays it. But I did met a couple of bronies that I met on a server, but I think they stopped playing MTA. I have spent some time actually scripting things. I tried looking around this forum and I'm surprised no one even talked about MTA. I tried SA-MP, but I really didn't like. The only thing good about SA-MP is the SA-MP map editor, which I use if I need to look up a certain model or texture.
  3. Hey, nice to meet you. Welcome to the forums. I've taken like 4 classes related to Computer Information Systems: Cisco 1, Intro. to Computer Hardware, Interactive Media (which is basically making apps for iOS or Android in Lua), and Adobe Flash with Actionscript. Definitely some interesting stuff I learned in those classes. Hope you enjoy what you find here.
  4. Well, whenever I see someone talking bad about the show on pony videos, I just laugh! XD The comments get so many downvotes and so many replies back from bronies. Actually, no. The more recent scenario is somebody with a pony avatar on YouTube comments on a video, you see someone reply back with someone provocative like "die pony faggot" and sure enough a long comment war starts. It is so funny. Also, I should note that in more recent years, I haven't been able to see "This comment has received too many downvotes. Show post anyway?" on YouTube. Maybe I'm just not seeing comments that got too many downvotes anymore? Or maybe they implemented somewhere where if a comment got too many negative votes, it gets removed? Idk. This largely happened after YouTube implemented the Top comments and Show new comments feature.
  5. Aww man. Sucks to hear. At first, I was really jealous of JanAnimations because his Button Mash Adventures series really looked like it was show-accurate. Many fan animators believed that he was actually creating a monopoly among fan animation because he was the only one who could actually duplicate it to the show. What's really funny is that Hasbro actually allowed his videos to stay up for that long just because they were impressed by them. The only reason why they did the C&D now is because, according to Hasbro, his videos were actually presenting competition to the actual show and they were trying to protect their IP (intellectual property). The only thing Hasbro could do was either order a C&D or risk losing their copyright and IP and they were just following the law to protect it. I have absolutely no clue how he was able to make his animations show accurate or what puppets he used, but now I actually feel bad for him because he did put in a lot of work into the animatics and into his animations. Of course, JanAnimations followed up with the C&D and let the lawyers know that he did remove them (made them private). The reason why did that is because he wants to work with DHX Media one day and animate MLP: FiM. But, let this be a lesson to fellow fan animators or those that wanna develop fan animations or video games based on the show. If you ever plan on making any kind of fan animations or video games, at least do it with OCs (original content) that doesn't look like any characters and doesn't take any names from the show. At least then, I think, you couldn't be liable. And I don't think Hasbro has the right to copyright a "style" of animation.
  6. You need Adobe Flash CS6 (or Macromedia Flash 8). I honestly don't know what the difference is. I've heard that in Flash 8, the brush sizes are bigger, but I'm not seeing the difference. And also, the bezier curves are smaller and harder to grab. But before you can start animating, you need a program such as Adobe Illustrator to start vectoring the sprites and actually make puppet rigs. There's a guy called bronyanimstudios who actually makes puppet rigs. I honestly do not know how he makes puppet rigs and I wish I knew how to make puppet rigs myself. But I'm assuming all the sprites are vectored individual, which probably takes a long time to do. You could use Photoshop and it could import into Flash CS6 with no problem. However, when trying to import a .ai to Flash 8, it just imported it as a .png. So really, everything should be vectored in Illustrator.
  7. Try to come up with something that will really capture the reader's attention and make them want to come back to read it later. Something that will make them want to visualize the story in their head. I would advise you to read a story called Aurora on FimFiction and maybe get some inspiration from that.
  8. Well, animation wise, personally I would prefer traditional animation because I think it gives you better control and not only that, everything looks more natural. It's really hard to make something like natural in Flash. I mean, look at the animation in Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies. All of that was hand drawn and it all came out beautiful and natural. I'm really admired by the hard work in Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies. But since I need to learn how to animate ponies using puppet animation, I have to use Flash xD. I don't even know how puppet rigs are made, but they get made somehow. But if I have to draw ponies, I'll use either Illustrator or Photoshop. Now, getting everything to look right takes some time to do, but if you have patience, you'll be proud of your hard work.
  9. Yeah, I've visited General Zoi's Pony Creator and to be honest, it's....okay....if you want to use it as a base or as a reference or if you don't have the resources to vector ponies, but personally I like to vector ponies from scratch using Illustator or Photoshop. One of the reasons being is because the colors from the vectors are more true and vivid. But before I vector ponies, I like to gather lots of references first so I know what I'm doing. Or, if I already know how I want it to look, then I don't need a reference. At least when I vector ponies, I can say "Hey, I made this in Illustrator (or Photoshop) and I feel proud to have made it using pure vectors." And it's something that I could actually upload to deviantart. Of course, I think you could upload something you made from the Pony Creator, but again, that's just playing around with a game and something you didn't make with pure vectors. I think vectoring ponies is not hard, but it does take some time, dedication, and effort. But overall, yeah, it's an alright tool. Also, read this: http://silvervectors.deviantart.com/art/Why-Not-to-Vector-from-the-Pony-Creator-351336918 Edit: I made this post when I was kinda an asshole and thought vectoring was better. I now recognize that a lot of people actually use the pony creator, especially when they don't have the time to vector ponies or pony avatars. Hell, I even spent lots of hours just vectoring ponies. I know there are people out there that actually know how to use Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, ect. and do artwork and they do it a lot faster, but maybe that's because they know how to use it and have lots of experience with it. I even had one girl on Skype try to teach me how to make a simple pony walkcycle. I am pretty sure it was 24 frames. And even that was hard, well not so hard because a lot of what I needed to do was already done. I just needed to use Keyframe Caddy and Onion Skinning to see what I was doing and see if everything matched up correctly and looped correctly. The hardest part was animating the tail. As I was doing it and playing back the animation every time, everything looked kind of crooked, so I had to keep correcting it AND I had to make sure that it looped correctly, so yeah that was hard. After doing all this, I would say at this point that animation is not for me, let alone puppet rigging. Just seems too time consuming.
  10. Sorry, I made a really stupid and cringeworthy introduction. So I'll fix that. Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, CA. I heard about a video about KONY 2012 on Facebook, watched the video. So then I looked kony 2012 in google image search. Then I searched for things that rhymed with kony 2012 like bony 2012 which was actually related to the Jason Russell incident in San Diego. Then I looked up phony 2012 because of the lack of transparency of where the money the Invisible Children got actually ended up. Most of it went to film production costs and in the staff member's pockets, only a small percentage of it actually went towards a cause. Then I decided to look up Pony 2012, which led to an image called Pony 2012 - Make Us Famous. And it had 3 ponies who I later learned were Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash. Then I learned about the show MLP: FiM on Wikipedia. And that's how I got interested in the show. Sorry again, made a really stupid and cringeworthy intro.
