  1. I just randomly remembered this picture I saw on Lauren's twitter that I found back around when I first found out about MLP almost 6 months ago. I think it means :okiedokielokie: . I cracked up when I saw it.
  2. I can't really say how the fandom has changed, since i fell into this black hole COMPLETELY BLIND of it about 6 months ago (Thanks Tara Strong) :okiedokielokie: JK, I'm glad I found out about the show. Anyway, In terms of the show all I really noticed is that the animators seem to be goofing around a little more than in the first seasons. Mainly the show hasn't "Gone Spongebob" If it starts getting stupid I won't be watching it, but I'll probably still be a fan. I still will watch older Spongebob episodes if I'm just channel surfing.
  3. So I've recently been thinking about the Mane 6's ages again and basing it on things in the show. I've come to the conclusion that Rarity is somewhere between 23-26. She has a business in a small town recognized by a major celebrity. A business takes some time to get going. It doesn't seem like her family is rich. She was also an adult at Sweetie Belle's 5th birthday (5-7 show years ago). There is a much bigger age gap between her and Sweetie Belle than Applejack and Big Mac. She's always just seemed a little older to me. My full post on The mane 6's and others' ages is here: http://mlpforums.com/topic/161-how-old-do-you-think-the-ponies-are/?p=2751991 So do you guys agree? Or who else is the oldest of the group and why do you think so?
  4. Lol, I doubt Rarity is near the top of the list.
  5. Lauren Faust said that their mentality is set back a few years from their age. In the show they all live on their own which is typically past high school age. Equestria Girls is supposed to be a separate entity from the show. Hasbro itself came up with the idea (to make another thing to sell) and it shouldn't really be considered for guessing the actual pony character ages.
  6. They are young adults (as Faust herself has said). M.A. Larson has also said in panels that they are 20-ish. I think the mane 6 range in age somewhere between between 18-25, although mentally more like 13-20 due to their world being simpler and just how the show itself is structured. It took a while to come up with this but I've been wondering and looking for clues since I first found the show around Christmas '13. Rarity 23-25- Has a business in a small town recognized by a major celebrity. A business takes some time to get going. She doesn't seem to come from a rich family. She was also an adult (probably late teens) at Sweetie Belle's 5th birthday (5-7 show years ago). There is a much bigger age gap between her and Sweetie Belle than Applejack and Big Mac. She also just seems a little older to me. Fluttershy 22-23- We know she is around a year older than Pinkie (Gilda Episode)- but attended school/camp with Rainbow Dash but was probably held back a year due to bad flying (she looks bigger than RD and others in the Cutie Mark Chronicles episode) Applejack 21-22- She pretty much runs the household/farm. Also seems to be more mature. Was already away in Manehatten with relatives when Twilight got accepted into Celestia's school. She also mentioned that she was the last in her class to get a cutie mark. Pinkie 21-22- Works at Sugarcube Corner and lives in an apartment above it. She's about a year younger than Fluttershy. She is not too far in age from Cheerilee (Pinkie Pride flashback). Twilight 20-22- Seems younger than Rarity and Applejack. Rainbow Dash 19-21- Works for the weather team. Isn't the most mature. She attended school/camp with Fluttershy and appeared younger than her. The thing I wonder most about is her upscale house at her age. Inheritance maybe? CMC 10-12- Based on how they talk/think. Most kids under 10 in real life aren't mentally like the CMC yet. Spike 10-11- Twilight was about that age back when he was born. Derpy, Bon Bon, Lyra, Colegate- 20-33 Because of how they are used- It leads to too many inconsistencies. For example they are shown as adults before Twilight has her cutie mark, BUT AS FILLIES when Pinkie HAS HERS as a filly. Cheerilee 23-25- Was in Rarity's class and is now a teacher, which needs some additional education. Big Mac 23-26- He's a couple years older than Applejack based on Cutie Mark Chronicles. Cadence & Shining Armor Late 20's- Early 30's Celestia & Luna 1000+?!?! - Who the hell knows- LOL What makes this hard are inconsistencies between the Cutie Mark Chronicles and Pinkie Pride episodes and the flashbacks.
  7. The CMC and their performance in Show Stoppers. The writers did good at what they were trying to do, and is believable for what the CMC would do, but It just annoys me too much. Now as for Spike at the Equestria Games, I thought that was funny. He was getting too into himself and learned the hard way. LOL, what else was he going to do besides run away? I cracked up when Pinkie yelled "NAILED IT!!" at the end. What's funnier is that she actually meant it!
  8. @Music Chart Fan, I don't think I've ever listened to a full countdown either. It was a pretty long show. Sometimes scanning through the radio stations on the way back from my cottage I'll find an old rerun of the countdown and listen to it for a while. If he were still alive and doing the show I probably wouldn't listen to it because I don't care for most current music that would be on the show. I really have to go on a hunt to find newer music that I like.
  9. A few days ago I was driving with my cousin and were were talking about something to do with cars. Then he said, "hey, remember when you had that rainbow dash?" I almost started laughing because I never thought I would hear those two words together anywhere other than in a conversation with something to do with MLP. Now about this "rainbow dash" he was talking about. Back when I had my first car, one of the bulbs in the gauge cluster burned out. When I had it out I was surprised that it used very common sized automotive bulbs. This gave me the bright idea to put color changing LED bulbs in place of all of them. All I can say is that "20% cooler" is an understatement in this case. It was fricken awesome and one of the trippiest things ever!!! The needles would all change color while the numbers were also changing color, all independently of each other. Everyone LOVED it. I don't have any pics or video because I sold the car not too long after because I found a better car for a deal I couldn't pass up. I also didn't even think too at the time. Funny thing is my cousin has the same type of car- a couple years newer than mine was. I saved the bulbs before I sold mine and I think I'll put them in his car. I'll put pictures if I do! Have any of you guys heard any pony names out of context anywhere before? I'm betting this is going to be a hard question since a lot of the names are pretty hokey, LOL!
  10. LOL! Absolutely not! I don't really like anything else like it. COMPLETE accident (with Tara Strong to blame). Being 25, I haven't exactly been watching cartoons for while except at our cottage with my little cousins. However, around Christmas '13 I saw a parody of The Powerpuff Girls when channel flipping. Bubbles seemed to have the original voice. This made me look Tara up to see what she's been up to and I saw MY LITTLE PONY on a list. I couldn't believe they still made the show (I was a kid in the 90's with a sister who watched it) and my intention was to look it up just to laugh at how crappy it was. I KNEW NOTHING ABOUT THE REMAKE OR WHAT I WAS ABOUT TO FALL INTO! Somehow I missed the internet swarm so when I started looking up the show I was very confused by all the stuff out there. I was like WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON?!?! IS THERE SOME BIG JOKE I JUST HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT?! I finally found the first 2 episodes and thought they were OK- definitely better than the old show- but I still wasn't that interested. Then I saw the ticket master episode. It's character interactions and Fluttershy's "Buzzards that can really buzz" gag amused me more than I thought they should. THIS SET OFF MY WTF AM I DOING?!?! ALARM. I was like, "why am I even to watching this and why do I like it?!?!" Well over the next month I looked into the background, origins, and behind the scenes of the show to find out what was going on with it. I also found out about the huge fan following. I really like Discord and thought it was hilarious that it was John De Lancie- WHO WAS IN F'N BREAKING BAD!!! What I really like about the show is that it's well made by people who are very good at, and genuinely care about what they do. The fact that it's not about 5 year-olds having tea parties, or middle/high school B.S. and stupidity is a big factor too.
  11. So yesterday DJ and Voice Actor Casey Kasem Died yesterday at age 82. He is from Detroit- which I live about a half hour from. He's best known for hosting the American Top 40 radio countdown until 2004. He also was the original long time voice of Shaggy from the Scooby Doo cartoons. I can't believe it's been 10 years since he hosted the radio show. I used to listen to it when I was a kid (late 90's/early00's) quite a bit. Even though I started to not care too much for the music on it into the early 00's I still liked to listen to it because of him. He had a nice voice that was just nice to listen too. He would also tell information about the artists in the countdown which was cool. I always also thought he kind of sounded like Shaggy even before I found out he did his voice. Anyway it seemed that he was a really good guy overall and thought it was worth mentioning. Are there any of you guys who used to listen to his radio show somewhat regularly at some point?
  12. d.notive - Taking flight. It's the only MLP related song I actually have on my iPod. The others I like are from animations/videos: the song from the AnimatedJames video with Vinyl and Octavia stranded on an island. Gypsy bard- I'm working on learning it on the piano Anthropology
  13. LOL! I hate when small moths get in my room. Those are the only things I kill because they piss me off and that's all you can do to get rid of them. If they are bigger moths I catch and throw them outside. My cat takes care of insects in other parts of the house, except ants- she hates them so I vacuum them up. She even tries to get wasps- So i have to hurry up and get rid of one of those if it gets in.
  14. Scripted "Reality" shows"- These kind of shows just aggravate the crap out of me. Usually they are just total stupidity about total idiots and have BAD acting. One exception that I did like was Ma's Roadhouse (Tru TV) only because "Ma" was just so hilariously ridiculous. Lazily drawn or overly dumb cartoons like Uncle Grandpa, Adventure Time, Super Jail, and other stuff like that also annoys me. I don't really care for Regular Show either because the two main characters are just so dumb for 23 year-olds. I do like the way the green character (Muscle guy or something) screams and freaks out though. I've watched the first few episodes of Adventure Time and Regular Show recently to see what they're like and didn't find the stories very interesting. All I could think was "Bender the dog" and "Spongebob (with a cold) the Ice Man" because I immediately could recognize their voice actors.
  15. My guess is that they will change maybe a few clips, but I doubt they'll do much more than that. But who knows- It seems like the animators aren't on as tight of a leash as of this last season (and that's not a bad thing). It would be great if they made a better opening song- It's the one thing I dislike most about the show. With the last intro I like how they added Discord creepin' in Fluttershy's window. Hopefully they'll use the picture at the end of S4 for the new intro end if they change it. The first one was stupid- Their eyes look like alien eyes. The second one, aside from more of the characters, wasn't much better.
  16. Mainly because they're just interested in the cash. I've been just looking for a figure to put on my desk but haven't been able to find a good one. As others have mentioned the Funko brand ones seem to be some of the better ones, but still aren't what I'm looking for. I'm very picky and can't help being annoyed by stuff that doesn't look right. (the reason I also don't care for many of the fan made 3D CGI videos) A while back (before I even knew of MLP unfortunately) someone made some 3D models of the characters and was 3D printing and selling them. Of course Hasbro found out and decided to kill that off as they like to do. Anyway they were the best looking ones I've seen anywhere. Here is one of the figures they were making. I just find it so stupid that Hasbro just kills stuff like this off. The 3D work is done, why not buy the model from the creator and produce them? I'm sure they would turn a profit.
  17. Welcome! There are a lot of different reasons why people are into the show/fandom. One thing (but definitely not the main thing) I like about the show is the irony of it in a few ways: The irony that it is good vs the old versions of the show. The irony that it is so popular among older people. the irony of how much effort is truly put into this show compared to more popular shows- and not just kids shows, look at how stupid some of the "reality" type shows are that are popular. "I don't want it to be stupid"- That was the main thing that Lauren Faust said about how the show MUST be in order for her to work on it back when she was pitching it to Hasbro. This is also probably one of the main reasons I like the show. It doesn't rely on "stupid humor" or "stupid/idiot type characters", yet it's still funny.
  18. LOL- Same here. I think it just looks very lazy and unappealing. I just get too annoyed to even try to see what it's about.
  19. The thing that bugs me about the Apple siblings' parents is not that they're dead, but it's pretty much like they never existed. The thing of it is that the Apples are so much about family- but don't even seem have any pictures of the parents- yet they have pictures of when Granny Smith was young. As for other characters' family members, I'm pretty sure I've read something from one of the writers a while back that the next season will probably have some other family members introduced. One of my favorite introductions was Rarity's parents- I thought it was hilarious. Her accent got completely called out- LOL!!! Tabitha mentioned something funny in an interview about when the writers kind of "sprung the parents on her" - I forgot exactly what she said. It kind of reminds me of Madonna and her "British accent." She's a native of Michigan and went to high school about 10 miles up the road from me!
  20. LOL, wow. More went on than I was expecting. I don't even know what to say. MLP in my book is still one of the most oddly mixed-up things I've seen- in an awesome way (which is one of the main reasons I like it). These episodes reinforced that even more, especially when going from a surprisingly crazy fight to the worrying "rainbow power" look. I definitely wouldn't have guessed there would be a fight scene like that in this show. I did guess Discord would end up flipping sides though as soon as Celestia mentioned him. As for the "Rainbow Power" look, I'm SOOO glad it appears to be only temporary. Ever since the first images were out of it I was worried Twilight was going to end up with "Rainbow Land Kingdom" or something else dumb and off-putting like that- with the rainbow power look as the equivalent to the "crystal pony" look of the Crystal Empire. If that was the case I don't know if I would watch the show much longer. That look has too much going on and is just too gaudy/dumb looking to me. The simplicity of the characters' designs relative to their complex/expressive faces is something I really like about the show. The "rainbow power" look ruins that. I noticed a few goofy things with these 2 episodes: Twilight randomly having the owl when the library got destroyed was something that threw me off at first- but I watched it again and saw that she had quickly teleported inside before the fireball hit. Another thing about this- was destroying the "TOWN LIBRARY" where Twilight was just STAYING really necessary? It technically wasn't actually "her" house. Twilight could have easily just shielded the whole place, saving both IT AND THE OWL. Now if they had the castle "sprout up" where the library was it could have worked, but the new castle isn't even in the same place. That's just something that bugged me a little. Some of the dialogue in this episode seemed a bit weird and over-thought, particularly between Celestia and Twilight in the beginning of part 2. As for the stained glass Twilight- I guess it's confirmed that the princess' aren't complete geniuses. I don't know what to say about that not being hidden except DUH. "Lets talk about Tirek not knowing about Twilight but lets just leave up the hallway history lessons anyway because"...? I just found the whole window bit funny. In all seriousness though I thought the 2 part Finale was done very well and wrapped up the season pretty good. As for season 5, I really have no idea where the writers are planning to go with the show. They have plenty of still undefined things they can work with. Everyone working on the show is still doing a good job and it hasn't turned stupid yet- So my guess is that season 5 should be pretty good too and I'll be watching.
  21. Yes they do- well the technology anyways. I always notice this kind of stuff. Hearts and Hooves Day- Arcade video game machines Three's a Crowd- CRT Computer Monitor For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils- Giant LED stage screen They have technology but just aren't hopelessly addicted to/reliant on it like "our world" is.
  22. I could deal with no more TV since I don't really watch it too much. Internet would be hard to get over because I get a lot of information from it. All I can say is that I definitely wouldn't die from boredom though- I have a lot of other things I can do/work on.
  23. For me it had to be from All Dogs Go To Heaven. It was the hell scene. To this day it's still one of my favorite animated movies though. (2 minutes in on the video below or click link below it to start it at that part) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acxpW85WywQ http://youtu.be/acxpW85WywQ?t=1m59s I was about 5 when I could use the VCR and would watch this movie. I had a recurring nightmare about the hell scene especially about the devil creature coming out of the lava. Funny thing is the final hell scene is actually TONED DOWN in the movie from the original sequence. "You can NEVER come/go back" was something in the movie that really disturbed me then. One really sad thing about the movie is that the voice actor for the little girl was killed before the movie was released along with her mother by her father who then killed himself. She was only 10. Judith Barsi
  24. I found out about the show/fandom at the very end of 2013. I saw a parody when flipping channels on TV called "2 broke Powerpuff Girls" I noticed Bubbles' voice actor seemed original (Tara Strong). I haven't really been watching cartoons much for the last 10 years so I wondered what she was doing these days. I saw "My Little Pony" on a list of her current projects and couldn't believe they still made that show or that she would even bother with it. My sister used to watch the old version when we were kids in the 90's- early 00's and I hated it. SOMEHOW I HAD NO IDEA IT WAS REMADE AND MISSED ALL THE INTERNET INVASION STUFF. I recall seeing pony avatars in other forums occasionally but didn't know or care what they were at the time. I decided to look the show up on YouTube thinking I would just laugh at how much it sucked. Anyway I eventually found the first two episodes and thought they were better than the old series, but still wasn't very interested. I COULD TELL these seemed to be a lot of mainly background episodes and that maybe I should continue (I was bored at the time too). I watched the third episode "Ticket Master" and started to actually be amused by the show. I started liking the show and then thought I was going mental or something. I searched about the show and it's background and then found out it had a huge following for what it was. And that's my story of how I got sucked into the Black Hole of DOOM Here's the clip that started it all (I cant find a complete one)
  25. Chef Ramsay and his attitude doesn't bother me. I think some of the things he randomly comes up with when he's pissed are hilarious. On the other hand, the STUPID "dramatic" music every 2 seconds in the American shows he's in does bother me. He really does know his stuff, works hard, and can't stand BS. That's seemed to work out pretty good for him in my opinion. He's working on multiple shows at a time and owns numerous successful and highly rated restaurants. I do often wonder what his blood pressure is though. Here's one of my favorite clips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AREJHFfIAdA
