Would anyone be interested if I attempted to rewrite the plot (based on the synopsis) that is done in a way that doesn't require him to be a jerk and have him be way more interesting?

Fluttershy certainly worked well as a supporting character in this episode, but I think she is difficult to make work as a focus character though.

I just wish he wasn't a jackass about it so I could relate and sympathize more with him. They essentially made a character no one wants to see again (both in Equestria and us the viewing audience)

Ugh, he is a hippie. I was hoping he was going to be some kind of nerd, maybe be some kind of counterpart to Fluttershy (like with taking care of robots).

Do it with Mario. The series work well with each other in terms of tone and design, we have the Mario and Luigi games to give way more focus on lore and character interactions, and Mario is pretty much universally loved.

I actually wrote an episode concept about it, which was quite fun because nearly everyone was freaking out.

Sonic 06, Equestria Girls, IDW Comics, Sonic Boom How is this a bad idea? Both fandoms eat shit and ask for more. As a marketer, the rivalry with the two fandoms will only drive up attention and curiosity. It would probably have a positive effect on sales.

Megan? Seriously? It seems pointless now, especially after EQG exists. The spy episode would work better as a Total Recall parody, especially since it can be a dream sequence if someone wanted to interpret it that way.

I would rather that the show have a clear definition on how they see each other rather than it being confusing and complicated. It will allow writers to build on a defined dynamic rather than having it constantly change.

Her track record is pretty similar to Spike, most of her solo outings are average to bad, but unlike Spike she rarely shines as a supporting character. I don't see anyone demanding Fluttershy be improved or that they write her out of the show, and I feel like she is way harder to write as a focus or support character.

The episode rarely focuses on our characters and overall the lesson taught to Starlight is pretty insignificant. It is boring because it is a story within a story.

We've seen this come up again and again in discussions and in Q&As. We've seen most show staff suggest they are brother and sister. We've even seen the two Hearthswarming episodes pretty much break the headcanon that they were employer and employee before going to Ponyville. I mostly have this poll to see what you guys think, as I truly believe most of the fandom wants to consider Spike a member of or extremely close to Twilight's family. This makes me wonder what the show staff is afraid of in regards to confirming it.

Though while I appreciate what they did, season 2 making the friendship lessons an individual journey for all major characters as well as the increased significance of Spike and the CMC (particularly Apple Bloom) lead to the writers starting to focus on their families. We have seen a great deal of focus on the characters' families with it practically becoming an expectation now to see Apple Family or Twilight family episodes. We have regressed to the relationships these characters had before the pilot, and feel they are more important. While this may be treated as a good thing, it is odd when AJ has probably had more significance in the series being the leader of the Apple Family than as a member of the mane 6. After Twilight made all these new friends the fate of Equestria is better determined by all of the friends she made as a child (Spike, Shining Armor, Cadance). It is beginning to seem like the Pie family is going the same route now, and Fluttershy will go the same route if the fans love her brother.

That DOESN'T involve aliens or a crazy science experiment? Since I feel like they've written themselves in a corner.

What is the toy you want me to sell or any other executive orders you want me to follow? Actually, do you have anything in mind for Equestria Girls? I would love to write for that as well.

Faust is AMAZING when it comes to character and world design, for the basic groundwork she is fantastic. Let me make an analogy that might explain what I think of Faust's talents. She can do some amazing blueprints when it comes to construction, but when it comes to actually constructing a building she insists on using materials that don't make a lot of sense. We have evidence that many of Faust's ideas were restricted or changed while she was developing the show, and honestly? Had Faust gotten nearly everything she wanted, I wouldn't have been a fan of the series. I really hope that the staff don't try to uphold Faust's vision where it clearly has issues, namely with Spike gosh I hate how little she cared about him.

I love the brilliant writing, let's name all the towns "BAAAAAH", let's have fart jokes, let's make the characters far less relatable to humans, let's have some grimdark plot about the characters constantly fearing being eaten. The lore is so uneven between being a serious fantasy world and a goofy fantasy world.

Also Faust seemingly wanted nothing to do with Spike, and the character only seemed to gain his own significance after McCarthy took over. I really love the Twilight-Spike dynamic, and I don't mind that it has become the norm for adventure episodes.

After Season 2 this was a rare occurrence, don't forget he was present in Newbie Dash while Starlight still wasn't.

So what exactly are the duties of being a princess of Friendship? Unless it is leading others who do most of that friendship work for you, since it seems like Spike and Fluttershy make a bigger effort to spread friendship across Equestria than she does.
