It really sucks that MLP still isn't allowed to talk about death, because "Tanks for the Memories" really hit all the stages of grief. The fact that it's an overblown reaction to hibernation is really the one immersion breaker.
Like that video with Dr Wolf and CloudCuckooCountry I keep bringing up every now and again, it's true that MLP's nature of being second to the toy sales holds the show back from its full narrative potential. Everything would have made much more sense had that one plot point been changed.
The fact that it's about hibernation didn't really break the immersion for me. I could believe Dash would freak out over losing Tank even if only temporarily. But it's still a bit sad this show isn't allowed to talk about death, maybe one day...
