  1. I'm really itching to write a review of "Castle Sweet Castle" but I just don't have the time...

I can't. Extremely busy and I'm using a shared computer.

Oh, that can a problem. Then when you have the time, write a review of the episode. I'll eagerly wait for it :)

  2. I think it's just there for the aesthetics and the message of the episode, which may be mentioned in the future at one point or another. I wouldn't say it's definitely building up to anything, but it's too early to tell. All hail the Great Chandelier of Continuity!
  3. I think the pacing and tone of the episode would have been well-served if the emotional scenes had come sooner in the episode rather than later. I'd consider this one a little "back-heavy", it's slow through the beginning and middle but it absolutely piles it on in the third act. I'm definitely on board with this portrayal of Spike. Here, he's the butt of some jokes, but he's taking it for his friends. It's a good balance between his comic relief and supportive roles. Overall, there are a few things worth changing but nothing seriously wrong with it. A very serviceable episode for what it had to deliver on.
  4. A little bit padded, but overall very serviceable at what it had intended sums up "Castle Sweet Castle" for me.

Is no one a bit concerned that Spike sleeps with a Rarity doll?

      Nah, I don't see a problem personally

An episode brings a strong message and uses continuity well, and yet all you guys can think about is a plushie. X|

  5. I'd definitely agree with "Spike at Your Service", but I think one of the most egregiously overused setups had to be the one in "Games Ponies Play", which severely detracted from the episode's story structure. The "mistaken identity" plot seemed too simple and out-of-place for MLP to do effectively and the episode turned out to be nothing but a mindless comedy romp, with a moral pulled out of an unimportant and underused subplot at the end. Subjectively, some could say that many of the plots are apparently "cliche", but it really depends on how MLP does it. If MLP brings a new spin on a well-worn formula, they will less likely be seen that way, like "Pinkie Pride", for example. The "always someone better" episode is one that's very common in kids' TV, but the character development, the characters themselves, and the large, loud presentation helped bolster the episode's appeal.
  6. All I can say is, you've put it really well here. I don't know if I can speak for everyone, but I'll try to do all I can to help you. You have intelligence, you take initiative, and you're very independent and resilient in spite of everything that's happened to you. As much as you do to try to help, I, at least, will do as best I can to pay it forward.
  7. I ain't got nothing to lose! HA, HA, SUCKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually to be honest, Wind Chaser doesn't have a special talent and would agree with the ideology at first, but taking away his individuality and controlling his mind would be dangerous. If he was forced to live in Starlight Glimmer's village, he would probably spend every hour of every day trying to subvert her authority and take over.

  9. EVERYTHING IS MACHINES!!!!!! [insert robot/cyborg ponies here] Friendship would no longer be magic. It would be sufficiently advanced technology integrated seamlessly into our daily lives.
  10. Are you familiar with New York City Transit terminology? Have you ever had to call in a 12-9?
  11. I really need a lot of help. I'm going through a tough time in my life, dealing with an uncertain future and serious emotional issues. I might have a long friends list, but the actual number of people who I feel I can talk to is less, the actual number of people I feel actually care about me can probably be counted on one hand or less. I'm banned from PM so it's going to be pretty hard to do that on here. I just want support, emotional support, of any kind. At the same time, I feel I should be very suspicious of anyone I trust.
  12. 277057 Jesus Christ, it's not like anyone needs to see that. :okiedokielokie: Only posted this because I had to. I'm not going to post any more in this thread, ever, unless I absolutely have to.
  13. It seems I'm a terrible person no one likes, and I probably should have stayed banned.

I know i'm a bit late to the conversation, but like everyone above pointed out, you still have friends around you =)

  14. Starlight Glimmer needs to really go through a lot in order to be redeemed, because she still genuinely believes in her ideology, no matter how wrong the Mane 6 proved it. They really need to hunt her down and flesh out her backstory before they can even think of doing it, but overall this could go either way. I'm neither for nor against it, as long as it's handled properly.
  15. I don't really know. Just to get to know you since a certain someone I know talks about you a lot.
  16. I think both of them might have the capacity to do it but never had a reason to use it, or alternately Princess Celestia can possibly do it but never learned how to do it. On the same token, Discord can pretty much bend reality to fit his will and twist ponies' minds using illusions, so entering dreams does seem possible, except he doesn't seem to have a reason to do it. Princess Luna, by virtue of her responsibilities and her personality, seems to be the only one willing and able to do it on a regular basis.

Whenever I think that, in the end it turns out someone's looking out for me, even if its the person I least expect!

Anyway, I seriously doubt nobody cares. And if they don't, then you're a helluva resilient person!

We may not have talked for a while, but I'm still your friend.

  18. I've heard about things , @SparklingSwirls, and have done, and I'd sure love to see all three of them, though I'm sure the feeling is not mutual. I'd also put in @Nuke87654, @Dark Qiviut, , , @Ryo and @Checkered Flame. I can see why no one on here ever wants to see me. It's not like I have any skeletons in my closet...
  19. It adds tension by showing how well the villain may (or may not) have things planned out, in some cases shows just what they would do to the world if it was theirs, and also adds suspense (i.e. "how are the heroes going to get out of this one?"). If the plot points that lead into and out of this situation are not contrived or forced enough to break the story, this may be one of its most important parts.
  20. This happens when I make a reply to others' status updates either resulting in a typographical error or a double post due to a slow connection. When attempting to delete the old comment, it appears to be deleted, but refreshing the page replaces the deleted comment. This seems to happen more on replies to others' status updates than my own.
  21. Season 4's finale was more about style whereas Season 5's premiere was substance. It's already been said that "The Cutie Map" took a more subdued and cerebral stylistic approach as opposed to the bombastic visuals and action of "Twilight's Kingdom". "Twilight's Kingdom" delivered in the departments of action and visuals although it negatively impacted the story, forcing it to rely on logical gaps in Celestia's plan and the takedown of every single pony in Equestria not named Twilight Sparkle in order to thrust her into a spotlight moment at the end. Season 5 seemed to address those issues in finally having an episode climax where the Mane 6's friendship and the alliances made in the episode pay it forward to solving the conflict, and for once it doesn't involve the use of the Elements of Harmony or some other magical device to blast the villain into submission; she actually went down as the result of a battle of wits, and escaped, thus leaving the ending partially open. It did a lot to change the two-parter formula and addressed the story weaknesses of the former two-parters.
  22. Happy birthday! Hope you enjoy.

  23. I've had time to think of another potential criticism of "The Cutie Map": Though Starlight's culture of equality was wrong, MLP has never addressed the potential downsides of a culture of individualism: those whose talents are undervalued or having not developed "special talents" being left behind.

  24. By attributing the themes of "The Cutie Map" to "Communism" and "Marxism", people are definitely doing a good job of completely missing the point of what the episode was about.
