  1. We all know how Equestria was united. Hearthswarming brings with it a message of unity that the masses adore: The three tribes overcoming their suspicions of one another and defeating the wendigos together. Historians, as they often do, would inform us how much more complicated that fateful night was. Indeed, it was the very thing that helped form the tribes in the first place that made them tricky to unite: Religion. The three tribes held a variety of deities to worship yet, all too often, your tribe determined who you follow. Earth Ponies had near universal praise for the Black Goat: the god of fertility and family. Most had little time for any other gods. Unicorns were more varied with their artisan workforce having more time to devote, but tended to gravitate to Dionysus: The god of feasting and the arts. Pegasi, so eager to bolster their own glory, would have the most even spread of worship across the pantheon. Some even went so far as to worship the nature gods, whom you would know as wendigos. Even the pegasi had their favorites though. Many among them would call upon Shu Da Mel to bring death to their enemies and commemorate their fallen. It would all lead to a trying time reconciling these differences. The leaders historically were much more cynical toward the pantheon and their superstitious subjects, but even they would find themselves bickering over faith on the first Heathswarming. Although, we all know how that day ended. However, a nation does not change overnight, and it would be the proceeding era that would prove most critical for the growing superpower of Equestria: The Cataclysm. The gods are of little help. They have grown complacent with their near-guaranteed supply of followers and are not happy now that the old days, when they had to work hard to impress their mortal followers, seem to be coming back. This is where you come in. Chancellor pudding head has passed to join Shu Da Mel’s great mausoleum. All are invited to attend Shu Da Mel’s celebration to remember all the good she’d done in life and to wish her a peaceful rest. Your actions in the new era will shape the next, and historians may remember you for your critical roll in what is to come and the reconciliation of the inharmonious gods. All of this with the horrors of the wendigo invasion of frost and famine fresh in your mind. Welcome, one and all, to the aftermath of Hearthswarming. Welcome to The New Pantheon! ~***~ Wow, that was exciting, but what's with the 'Voiced' in the title?: This is a Role Play like any other, but instead of acting it out over text, we use a voice chat to portray our story. The RP has a dedicated Discord server where we meet every week for a session. Interesting... but why?: I believe there is a lot that can be lost over text, and voice chat can help convey the more subtle parts of English communication. Beyond that, there is a more important advantage: instant feedback. Let's say you tell a joke in your RP. In the written format, text does a horrendous job of conveying other people's reactions, and there is often a wide delay between when you post and when the other person reads it. Over voice, you hear the reaction and can instantly tell how your joke was received. This can do wonders for a tone, and help people keep their comedic streak if that's the kind of character they want to play. Alright, the fact I'm still reading should tell you that I'm still interested. What do I need in order to play?: All you need is a microphone that we can understand you through, a Discord account, and a character to submit. Create your character (or use one you've already created), describe it (or link to it), and post it here. If it interests me, then I'll DM you a link to the server. Okay, but you said welcome One and all in your description, but I don't have a microphone/my character wasn't accepted. What gives?: That's a pretty strong point, but my welcome was really an in-universe welcome. If you can't get inside the universe, then there's nothing I can do. I'm sorry, you're on your own at that point. Okay, I've gotten into the universe, but I'm confused. You said I was in the underworld, but where's Cerberus? He's in the picture. Did you lie to me? How could you?: That's my fault. That picture was sitting on my computer for a while and I forgot the source. It looked cool, so I used it, but it's not my art (as if I could make something that good). But no, Cerberus isn't around yet. He shows up a while after the story. So, if you really looking forward to Cerberus related adventures, then I'm really sorry. I falsely advertised that. I'd tell you to look for a RP that does have Cerberus, but I don't see any of those around, so your out of luck there. Sorry again. Anyway, that's Pantheon! Make sure your weekend's free, and don't forget to bring your microphones.
  2. @Kujamih The RP is on hiatus. I thought I made that clear, though I'm starting to see the ambiguity in my original statement.
  3. I can't explain any further than that. You have reached the floor of what words mean. You will simply have to live with this mystery unsolved.
  4. @Kujamih "New responsibilities have come up" was your first clue.
  5. @Aisede "There's not a mortal alive that knows about my-!" He pauses, "I am telling you what I tell every other mortal. Stay away from any still waters large enough to be a lake or you will die. The further east you go, the worse this danger becomes. Boil them down to the salt if you have to, but do not let yourself submerge."
  6. @Kujamih @Radiant Reindeer @Starforce @Windy Snow I'm putting this RP on hold. New responsibilities have come up, and I won't feel comfortable contributing until I'm used to them. It's not that I won't have time for it. I just need things to be a little more orderly in my life to justify the kind of thinking I need to put into these projects. Also, @Windy Snow, Kujamih has been putting in more effort into his posts. It can be disheartening to see his peers get away with something he's trying to correct. I would ask that you edit your post to be more substantive before moving on out of respect for the additional effort Kujamih is putting in as someone new to role playing.
  7. @Aisede Terrado gave her a raised eyebrow, "Are you sure I should be explaining? Your passenger might be listening in." If aside were to let her mind wader to that region, she would find him to be still as an untouched pond. Not even the odd feeling of frustration she would normally seance. For once, it was like he was not even there.
  8. @Starforce @Radiant Reindeer @Windy Snow @Kujamih With no way for Void to disguise her retreat, the caterpillar shook his head in disappointment but didn't miss a beat in answering Spiral, "Indeed. Indeed," He parroted as he maintained intense eye contact, "Well, the first-year classes are all just east of the dorms. You just need to go back the way you came and go the opposite way to find your other professors. Although..." Calamity leaned closer to her conspiratorially and dropped his voice considerably before continuing.
  9. @Blitz Boom @Kujamih Limbo rolled her eyes at Light's wretching. Limbo never considered herself strong in any respect, but it would take a lot more than a pony carving through frog viscera to turn Limbo's stomach. Anypony failing that degree of resolve had to be a truly weak pony. None of the gore even landed on them. She then focused on Shark's story, making a special note about this special one. "Ah, I knew you were a good friend!" Limbo praised but was more careful to not confuse Sharks vocabulary, "You have a goal. A purpose. Truly, you are on the side of or-." She was cut short by the sudden decapitation. Shock cooled to horror in her heart. Quickly ducking behind Shark, she hopped for safe harbor but didn't forget the evaporation of the beast's victim.
  10. @Kujamih @Starforce @Windy Snow @Zoom Jetstream Behold! Kujamih's Void's greatest fear:
  11. @Aisede Terrado recognized the double standard of information. Normally he wouldn't give an answer after being denied one so soon, but the consequences were high enough to suspend his need for fairness --and his temptation to be a hard-ass. "A-" Terrado pauses, looking for a proper descriptor, "Alicorn is stuck at the bottom of the ocean. The problem is that the ocean is his domain, so his influence can be felt from most bodies of water. Even a lake can be hazardous if it's been sitting there long enough. Your 'friend' might recognize the threat and defend its host. That being said, there is a large ocean to the west. If you're going to trust me about anything, it should be this:" Terrado gives a hard look, "Don't. Go. East."
  12. @Starforce The segmented subject startled a smidge by Spell Swirl's statement. He slowly somersaulted onto the ground, using his grip on the tree to ease himself through the motions. Now slightly below eye level, the caterpillar strode to her, "Indeed. I am professor Calamity. I give instructions on fortune-telling and omen deciphering. Is there something you need Miss Spell?" Now that he is facing Spiral, she could see a monocle on his left eye. The few scratches and scuffs on the lens rotated lazily.
  13. @Aisede Terrado would have pressed forward to uncover will with Vida, but her uneasy warning gave him pause. In this moment of hesitation, he remembered that Vida is an outsider to his word and one that could survive an initial assault from him. If this lurker has Vida worried, it would be no guarantee that he could keep it suppressed. With discretion, he ends his probe. "Maybe I'm getting passive after such a long time away from the front lines. There is something in your mind. That's all I can tell. I've only seen this happen once before, and it was during the worst disaster the world has seen. If you don't want your friend to wake up, I suggest you stay away from large bodies of water." Terrado lingers on his last statement patiently.
  14. @Kujamih @Blitz Boom 'Writer'. Limbo didn't understand the concept, but interpreted it as her mental thought process. 'Perhaps he means my inner monologue,' She mused. "You never refuted my point," She stated flatly. Something in Light's inflection did not amuse. "First, her request was if she could have a second name and if you had an idea, not what one would be if she got one," she stated confidently, in either a refusal to admit the context of the request, or ignorance of the expectation to accommodate beyond what was specifically asked. "Second," She ranted, "if that was her intent, then my point would still stand. I'd just be disagreeing with both of you. Finally-" She paused and lost focus on Light. "Do I need a final point?" She asked herself in her typical whisper, "Technically, the second one was my final point, but is it wrong to not label it as such? How much omission is too much?" She then returned to the conversation with a less aggressive tone, and maintained her whisper, "Well, your deferral of responsibility proves a degree of subservience, and by extension, your capacity for order. Instead of abject refusal, I shall challenge you with a name of my own." She inhaled deeply, as if to summon her stamina before theatrically releasing, "Shark Stride!"
  15. @Blitz Boom @Kujamih Limbo narrowed her eyes at the suggested name. The pieces were coming into place for Limbo. First, he avoided answering what he wanted, proving that he was aimless, and now he is adding a word she didn't recognize onto a Limbo's perfectly descriptive name. A suspicion had locked into Limbo's mind: this stranger was a force of chaos. "Unacceptable!" Limbo bights but does not let her excitement go beyond her voice, "Shark is the most descriptive name! An ambiguous name like," She pauses to mimic his pronunciation, "Yeager, only serves to confuse and befuddle." So focused was Limbo on her persecution that she only now registered the question of her name. Not wanting to copy Light's rude deflection, she answered, "I'm Limbo Dreams, so long as we're on the subject."
  16. @Aisede Vida, the pet project of a tyrannical princess of the sun, still sore from her daring assault on the tyrant, is thrown to the wolves in a strange new land. Surrounded by snow and snarls, she is forced to leisurely stroll through the wasteland. The residents of Fang Breaker fortress appreciate the help in eradicating a skirmish of wolven. The Prince of the earth has extended an invitation to citizenship and revealed that he is the little brother of her adversary. Though, she seemed different than the tyrant she grew to hate. Prince Terrado then explains his situation. His realm, encircling his big sister's land is beset on all sides by war. From behind the seams, he alone has been charged with defense. Vida, having chatted with some of the prince's Legion's poines, has learned the less than reasonable motives of the wolven and their leader Fenrir. Now she has returned to the Prince and asked him to detect any curses her tyrant may have implanted. He is silent to her request. He simply closes his eyes and ignites his remnant of a horn, "This will not feel pleasant, but it will be harmless." At first, his magic crept through her body in a chilling way. It was as though a skeleton was prodding at her form both inside and out. Soon after, the magic moves to her heart, feelings of dread well at the intrusion. Finally, the magic moved to Vida's mind. Impending doom would crop up. In a rare moment, she was reminded of her mortality. How much longer would it be before she is feeble and bedridden, at the mercy of the world around her? Terrado's eyes would narrow, and so too would her vision. As his magic probed, Vida's passenger stirred. He was getting close.
  17. @Zoom Jetstream When Monsoon did not find a window on the acropolis, the narrator took it upon itself to direct Monsoon between some pillars. The interior had three distinct features. At one end of the room were desks. Not the personalized sort one would find in most schools. Each was a single surface that stretched across the room with many chairs. Each desk could comfortably seat a dozen ponies. The row-like desks only took up about half the room. After that was a circular depression. A sort of reverse stage for ponies to occupy. The indentation was flanked by shelves of nick-nacks. Finally, at the end of the room was a mighty oak sprouting from the basalt. Upon this oak was a giant caterpillar. The thing's features were simple. The pattern was a simple rounded line of green against its sky blue body. The face had many pony-like features: The eyes were pony-ish, and the slight smile was on a pony-like snout. It appeared to be writing some paperwork with its stubby legs at the top of the trunk. Its body wrapped around the lower trunk for support. @Thunder Light The Ghosts, glancing behind them, saw Thamani's approach, stopped, and turned to greet him. Their forms were of a pony but too simple to be any specific pony. The one on the right spoke up, "Hello, what might you be doing out here so close to the night?" The left ghost chimed in when it saw the rest of the group behind her, "It looks like an entire outing."
  18. @Zoom Jetstream Upon reaching the top, Monsoon would read the plaque in front, 'Clairvoyance.' It was not just a denotation of the subject of the class but evidence. Evidence that Monsoon hadn't the foggiest idea where she was going! And evidence of how lacking the headmaster's tour was. The ghosts were still reasonably nearby, in case one was inclined to move with aim and purpose.
  19. @Kujamih @Blitz Boom Mate: Limbo wrestled with the word. She had seen ponies use the word and assume a particular position. Those dreams always ended then and there. Perhaps it was a way of ending the world or how ponies woke up. Shark was a good pony that probably didn't want to end the world, so Miss. Dreams discarded that possibility. Did that mean she was in a dream? She grew pale at the idea, but shark had pushed her, so that couldn't be it. Then she mentioned pups, which Limbo correctly translated to 'babies' with even more confusion. This lack of sense was starting to frustrate, and that bled through her tone toward , "What are you talking about? And why babies?! They just sit around wanting to be held, and sometimes become giant monsters! Why would we risk that?!"
  20. @Blitz Boom @Kujamih Seeing the seance begin to settle, Limbo's perspective followed suit. However, Shark's admission to being friends with chaos didn't sit well with her. Perhaps she misspoke or doesn't understand what chaos is. She wasn't ready to accept that her new friend was dangerous yet. "Ahem," She cleared up in an attempt to steal some attention, "Well, what do you want?" Intentionally, she hadn't stated who she was talking to. That was how she would prove if she was among the truly chaotic. A pony without order would naturally be without a goal.
  21. @Starforce@Thunder Light @Kujamih @Zoom Jetstream The setting sun blackened the hills around the quartet. The bright orange contrasted to silhouette the pillared apexes. To reach one of these classes would mean climbing quite a few steps. Thankfully, a patrolling ghost was hovering in your direction. It wasn't alone either. Another ghost was chatting it up as they made their rounds.
  22. My mistake, it looks like @Thunder Light is who we're waiting on.
  23. @Kujamih @Blitz Boom Easy come easy go. So flighty is Limbo's mind that even hauntings of the past could not hold purchase in her mind. With a few blinks, she was one with the world again. Again, she was met with chaos as she took Light in. "I'm not an expert on the real world," Limbo prefaces in a high whisper as she cowers behind Shark, "but even I know ponies don't come out of thin air!" "Listen, Shark. That pony is chaos. If he can appear out of nowhere, then who knows what else he could do to us!"
  24. We were one post away from reaching the second act. I should have mentioned that Sombra wouldn't be present in the story for very long. I believe all I said was that this is mostly an origin story for Magloria. There are other characters you could have played as past the first act, but I should have told you that Sombra wouldn't make it past the first act.
  25. Nightshade, or deadly nightshade is the most poisons plant in the eastern hemisphere. I thought nightshade as poison was more common knowledge. I use a metaphor of the grim reaper to emphasis, but if I'd known it wasn't so widespread I would have used something more clear. Limbo Passes is a sacred dancer. Her whole life she has dedicated herself to helping others enjoy the moment. She's offering death to Sombra for the same reason she earned her cutie mark. Forgive me for sounding greedy, but are there any other examples?
