  1. @Blitz Boom Phoenix stood there, not entirely sure how to respond to the whole awkward situation. she had many different emotions running through her head, and it was difficult to tame them. she liked smokey. he was no doubt a nice stallion, and she never had any plans to leave him in the dust. however, she made a rash move a little while ago, and she was beginning to regret it. she was a little humiliated that Smokey was making such a huge deal out of it for the time being. just because she did what she did doesn't necessarily mean that she's ready. just that she needed to find out so she could add it to her consideration. it was all just so complicated. she stood there, silently pondering all of this, as her eyes darted away from Smokey's, a large amount of blush covering her face.
  2. @Blitz Boom @Widdershins as Phoenix entered the room, she felt a basket of different emotions. on one hand she was absolutely ecstatic to see Smokey. after a little trip around the garden with somepony as strange as Sorrow, she definitely needed a familiar face to provide her with some comfort. a soft smile grew over her face as she looked smokey in the eye. she wanted to respond to what he said. how could he ever believe she would leave? she definitely was a bit nervous and skiddish at times, but she was never the type to just leave someone hanging like that. even if it were something like that... she also felt rage, and her smile soon turned on it's back as her gaze shifted over to widdershins. she didn't have any words for him. the things she desired to do to him were... rather brutal. she grit her teeth as she tried to contain her anger. in a single moment, however, it all went away. this most definitely was the same draconicuus she had come to hate, but something was most certainly different about him. he looked completely different. could he possibly be... younger? and just like that, her rage was replaced with confusion. something jostled in her memory though, something that had just happened. some pony had rushed over to the sink just beside her, and she hadn't already noticed. she turned her head to realize that it was grim, and it looked as though his nose was bleeding. she didn't quite understand how it had happened, but then it clicked. she remembered feeling as though the door had hit something as she opened it, and the realization dawned on her "oh... oh! i'm so sorry..." she said as she stood behind him. she was suddenly pushed aside as the draconicuus had come between them. Phoenix simply backed away to allow the bleeding to run it's course before she found herself at Smokey's side, practically leaning against him as she wanted to get close. she needed to talk with him after all of this was over...
  3. @Blitz Boom it would appear as though Phoenix was about to let her stubborn side get the best of her. especially with Grim's aggressive approach. after all, who does he think he is calling her a young lady like that? he wasn't her father, and if he was he'd have turned to ash ages ago. she grit her teeth and let out a frustrated growl as she was met with Grimm's resistance. but what was she going to do in this situation? surely she couldn't fight him. and she wasn't very good with her words either. as she began to ponder her dilemma, she began to calm down. she saw that there really was no good way out of this situation other than to listen to Grimm. besides, Phoenix had to admit to herself that Grimm was making a good point here. she did need to get that thing out of her, one way or another. no matter how unpleasant it would be, it would most certainly be in her best interest. after all, what could the vile creature do further to her with the situation like this? such was unknown, and perhaps better left unanswered. she let out a sigh, releasing all of her tension as she looked back up at Grimm "fine" she said in a defeated tone. she trot past him and back into the mansion. she walked at a rather brisk pace up to the room she had left Smokey in, not really caring to pay attention to whether or not Grimm and Sorrow were following.
  4. @Blitz Boom Phoenix had blushed a bit when she heard Grim mention the situation from before. she didn't think anypony other than widdershins had seen or heard of the fact that Smokey and her had shared a kiss. it was bad enough that she was finally breaking out of her shell, and then it all got interrupted. she couldn't help but steam in anger at just the thought of it. a little bit of embarrassment as well, as she had allowed herself into that situation to begin with. she had known quite well that the vermin, widdershins was still at a loss for his tail. what she didn't know, is that it was somehow inside her. this made her even more livid. "oh! no no no no..." she yelled out as she shook her head, backing away from grim and sorrow. "i am not helping that thing" she said, making her intentions rather clear. after what had just happened, as well as what had happened the other day at her camp, there was no way in the world that she'd want to lend widdershins a helping hoof. however, she had one other thing to consider. widdershins' tail, or what she would assume is the portal to his tail, was still inside of her, apparently. things might fare worse if she allowed it to remain. she sighed a bit, turning away from the other two as she pondered what to do.
  5. @Blitz Boom after standing there and staring at the skull on her neck for a few moments, Phoenix shook her head to snap herself out of whatever daze she found herself in. right about then is when Grim showed up. she wasn't too surprised to see that Grim was actually Sorrows father. after all, there didn't seem to be too many other Stallions on the premises whom sorrow could have been talking of earlier. she glanced over at grim, and noticed that his muzzle seemed to be a bit bruised, and it looked as though his nose may have been bleeding a bit earlier as well. did he get into a fight? that was something she may have to figure out later. for now, there was the matter of that creepy skull around Sorrows neck... she had a ton of questions, but seeing Grims reaction, she decided that it may be best to withhold them for the time being. "it's fine... I've seen some weird stuff before" she shrugged it off as she wiped the look off her face. "should we head back inside?"
  6. @Blitz Boom Phoenix gazed down at the rather colorful fish. something about watching them was indeed very calming. she had almost forgotten what had happened a few moments ago with Smokey. a light smile crept onto her face as she thought of him. and it just as soon went away as she thought about how widdershins had come in and ruined the moment they were sharing. as she looked down at the colorful fish, she also couldn't help but notice her own reflection, as well as that of the mare beside her, who was a bit taller. there were few mirrors out in the woods, as one could expect. as a result, Phoenix hadn't had the chance to look at her own face very often. but right now, as she did, she felt as though her face was natural to herself. as if this is who she was, and who she was meant to be. as her comfort with herself grew, she began to realize something. she might actually be afraid to turn back. she would be afraid to be suddenly greeted by a similar, albeit unfamiliar face in the mirror. she truly was becoming at home with her situation. and that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. as she pondered this, lost in thought, she suddenly shifted her vision at Sorrow's reflection, noticing the glowing eyes in the skull around her neck. she lifted her gaze off of the reflection, and onto the real deal as the wisp suddenly flew out of the skull in Phoenix's direction. she was a bit startled, and took a few steps back. but after registering Sorrows words, she could deduce that the wisp served only to reinforce Sorrow's truth, and it had no intent to harm. truth be told, she didn't know what to do or say. she simply watched the wisp with a shocked look on her face. @Widdershins @Foxy Socks @Blitz Boom Rainbowdash had been hovering a few feet above everypony else as everything had been going on. she would have piped in, but the whole situation seemed a bit over her head. as it seemed like they were all leaving, she lifted a hoof to wave at them. "goodbye" she said with a grin as they trotted out the door. she began to float on her back, with her wings still beating to somehow keep her afloat, as she crossed her hooves behind her head "yeah, well i just got bored, so i figured i'd stop by anyway" she replied with a bit of a stubborn tone. she didn't like it when other ponies questioned her intentions.
  7. @Blitz Boom Phoenix hadn't much to say to add to the conversation. much like Smokey, Sorrow seemed to love talking as well. not that it was a terrible thing. it was actually rather nice, being the quiet one that she was. instead she simply took note of the rather odd story that she was telling. it had never been a hobby of hers to argue with ponies. ones who were clinically insane were even worse. that is only of course if that were the case of the mare she were staring at right now. she simply followed sorrow through the garden, trying her best to ignore how odd the things were she were talking about as she took in the beauty of the place. she turned her head from left to right, trying to take it all in as best as she could as they passed. if she had a moment or two, she would stop for a moment to try and smell some of the flowers, causing her to possibly be trailing behind sorrow by a few feet. as they made their way out to the patio, adjacent to the small pond, Phoenix wandered over to it herself, without any further motivation needed. she was fairly curious about the whole area, never having seen a place as beautiful as this before.
  8. @Blitz Boom Phoenix stood a few steps back still from where sorrow was still talking to her. "legion" the word rang out in her head. is that the word she was using to refer to the skull? something about it made Phoenix feel rather uneasy. but perhaps those were just her latent survival instincts kicking in. unfortunately, her survival instincts were a part of her that she simply couldn't get rid of. questioning the motives of others had helped her evade sticky situations quite a few times in the past. and listening to these instincts had been such a huge part of her life that it wasn't going to be something she could easily switch off. and it's for that reason, she would keep a keen eye on sorrow. "sure" she answered carefully. as they would begin their stroll through the garden, Phoenix had a hard time letting her mind off the situation that had taken place beforehand, as well as the one that sat in front of her now. she wished that she could truly be at ease as to admire the beauty and work put into such a display. it was nothing like you could find deep in the woods. back in there things simply grew wherever they found themselves. there was no order or beauty. she sighed a bit as she realized she kept connecting everything to her life before. but what other choices did she have? after all, there wasn't much for her to compare it to other than her life in the woods.
  9. @Blitz Boom Phoenix began to let down her guard as she realized that the pony in front of her clearly meant no harm. that skull would continue to creep her out, however. she listened on as the mare appeared to talk to the skull, as if there were some being, or beings inside of it. clearly, due to the glowing eyes, there was something up with this skull. otherwise, the mare would simply look insane. she thought it strange how Smokey had all of these ponies he was connected to. there were the few ponies here on his estate, as well as the others he had a chat with at each of the train stations. she shook her head slightly, thinking about just how opposite he was from her. perhaps that would only serve to help her out in the long run. she stepped back a little again. "puff puff?" she muttered to herself. she figured it must be some odd nickname for Smokey "yeah, i was just in there with him... but i think he's dealing with something right now" she answered, thinking back to what had just happened inside of the house. her blood began to boil at simply the thought of it all.
  10. @Blitz Boom as Phoenix got outside, she felt as though she had to reconsider her previous intentions. after all, setting a fire out here looked as though it wouldn't be any better than setting one in the house. after all, some pony looked as though they spent a lot of time trimming these hedges and making this garden look as extravagant as it did. was all of this part of Smokey's estate? it was certainly a bit bigger than she had previously imagined. she began to look around in wonder, momentarily forgetting her unpleasant encounter with Widdershins. she walked down one of the paths, looking at how well placed all of the roses were, as well as noting the sheer number of them. whoever made this garden must have an obsession. "hold on a moment" she thought to herself as her mind traced back a bit. "that would explain her cutie mark". she thought back to when she had encountered Rose, and how she appeared to be one with nature. this garden must have been done by her. she certainly did a spectacular job. there definitely wasn't anything wrong with roses in her eyes. she stood over a whole bunch of them and inhaled deeply through her nose, smiling as the pleasant scent reaches her. she turned and saw the other mare there. she was a Pegasus. she had never really talked to any Pegasi before. then again, that wasn't anything surprising considering her mannerisms. before she could even consider approaching, the Pegasus was already approaching her. Phoenix took a step back a bit, not quite being used to others coming up to her like this. Phoenix at least owed the Pegasus mare an answer to her questions. she shyly lowered her head and avoided eye contact as she gave them "i'm Phoenix... and actually, i was brought here by Smokey" she replied rather quietly. all of a sudden, Phoenix noticed the strange skull hung around the strange mare's neck, and it had alarmed her quite a bit. even more so when the eyes began to glow. she leapt back, and immediately put herself into a defensive stance. it wasn't at all like Phoenix wanted to hurt the mare. rather, odd things like this simply triggered her survivalist instincts.
  11. @Blitz Boom @Widdershins Phoenix had used her magic to get a good grip on the body of the creature whose bottom half were currently inside of her mouth, although it didn't feel like it. her grip on his midsection was rather aggressive as she gave a very rough yank. if he weren't out in the first one, she would continue until he was, each yank getting more and more rough, as she had no real care for the well-being of the vermin. once he was out, she would cough, trying to get any sort of bad taste from her mouth. it wasn't going to be enough, however. after all, who knew what sort of diseases he was carrying. she happily accepted the bottle of mouthwash from Smokey, taking it into her own magical grip as she decided to pour a hefty swig of it into her muzzle. she followed suit with Smokey, swishing it around a few times before she eventually spat it out into the sink. she noted how powerful the stuff was. as if what he had done to her earlier wasn't enough, now he had to show himself when she was finally becoming comfortable? she wasn't too thrilled to see this creature being the next thing to torture her aside from herself. she stood up, from where she was practically hanging in the sink, and let out a very frustrated grunt as she trot out of the room. she best leave the room before she accidentally set the whole house ablaze in her rage. that train of thought led her to just outside of Smokey's mansion, funny enough. she hadn't planned on running away. no, she figured simply that if the creature did decide to follow her, outside would be a better place to cremate him.
  12. @Blitz Boom @Widdershins not much was going through Phoenix's head at this point. why else would she have been crazy enough to pull something like this? perhaps she had felt pressured into it, by these nagging feelings constantly nipping away at her mind. however, as she continued, she noted how the reaction that her own body was having to the sudden interaction was... overwhelmingly positive. she kept her eyes closed, not daring to look Smokey in the eye. she needed to simply bask in all of the sensations in order to truly understand what was going on. she continued to hold what she could only describe to herself as a passionate kiss. as she did, her body continued to grow warm, and her legs began to quiver a bit. this sudden excitement was a bit unexpected, but not unwelcome. as Smokey lifted his hoof to hold onto her head, she only wished there was more. she desired to bask in his warmth, and feel his entire body as it wrapped around her. if she weren't trying to enjoy the moment, she'd kick herself for having such thoughts. especially the rather impure ones that followed. after about a minute or so, Phoenix had come to her conclusion. this was most definitely going to be a turning point. now that she had gone and done this, she wouldn't be able to simply pretend as though it never happened. especially not with those damned emotions simply driving her insane all of the time. no, in fact, now that she had done this it felt as though a weight had been lifted off her chest. like she could finally embrace him without the humility that came along with it... after all, Smokey seemed more accepting of her than she ever was to herself. but, acting the role was going to take some getting used to... she finally had decided it was time for her to end this little experiment, although the option to continue later on was certainly available. she opened her eyes, and stared up at Smokey's. as she pulled away however, she noticed something strange coming from her own mouth, as well as Smokey's. her eyes widened in surprise. she backed up at a rather quick pace as far as she could, her hooves scraping against the tile floor as if she was trying to escape from it. as she did, she noticed that the entity seemed only to stretch itself across the room. of course, there were many questions that would run through a damaged ponies mind when something of the sort happened. is this some kind of punishment? is this normal? had she ACTUALLY puked, and it turned out to be some sort of solid blob? her worries were... not necessarily brushed away as she suddenly heard the distinct and familiar voice come from Smokey, as if Widdershins' head was down there somehow. instead she began to seeth with anger. how could such a revealing, and sacred moment be ruined by this creature?
  13. @Blitz Boom Phoenix was sat down in the corner next to the toilet, propped up against the wall. she was almost positive at this point that she wasn't going to be sick, but she had stayed next to the toilet just to err on the side of caution. she sighed, as she let her head slump down into her forehooves. she was terrible when it came to this sort of confrontation. but why? she had been able to easily confront many ponies in her time living alone in the woods. everything from merchants, whom she had bought supplies from, to bandits who she had to fight off. she was amazing in combat. however, this was different. rather than combating other ponies, this time she was combating her own emotions. how long could she push them away in her mind before it ultimately blew up on her? of course, Smokey was no moron. this was his house and he was well aware of just about every hiding spot in the house, she was sure of it. so it was no surprise when she heard him walk into the room. she had almost hoped he wouldn't, because this meant she would have to confront him, as well as her own emotions again. hiding from it was slowly becoming more and more difficult as her time spent with him went on. however, not every ounce of her being was filled with dread. she lifted up her face and her gaze unintentionally met with Smokey's. as it did, a warm feeling began to fill her heart. this sensation wasn't at all sickening, like the fuzziness in her stomach was. rather, this one was rather pleasant. and this time it would be difficult to remain in denial, like she had been for the last couple of days. not wanting to be cornered and forced into the confrontation, she decided to stand up and meet with Smokey in the center of the room. as she approached, her heart and mind began racing in a million different directions. thousands of questions rang through her head. "should i run? should i stay? should i have never agreed to come along in the first place?" were just a few that stuck out to her. she hadn't the time to answer any of these questions though. as she neared her destination, her mind grew eerily calm. she stood in front of him, with her cheeks as red as a sunset, clearly showing even through her orange fur. only one string of thought came to her mind at this point. "i need to find out for myself if all this is worth the trouble" she thought to herself. her heart raced even more, as she realized what she was about to do was insane, but there was no stopping it now. in order to overcome all of this, and finally settle down, she needed to do this she leaned forward, extending out her muzzle. it felt like her approach lasted for hours, but in a climactic moment, her lips eventually made contact with his. she didn't simply stop there, however. she had decided to push her face forward a little more, adding a bit of pressure behind it as she closed her eyes.
  14. @Blitz Boom that was quite the loaded response to what Phoenix had assumed was a simple request. however, it gave her a great deal of insight about what sort of pony Smokey was. in any case, she was grateful that Smokey had snapped out of it and realized his errors. how could she possibly hope to respond to what Smokey had said, though? on one hoof, she was absolutely flattered that somepony would even want to share their wealth with somepony like her. on the other, she was terrified. she wasn't terrified of the house, the money, or even Smokey. rather, she was terrified by the implications that his loaded response had hidden within. she was relieved to find that his boastfulness wasn't out of blind arrogance, but rather, because he wanted somepony to share it with. he went through all this trouble to get himself such a large house, yet he himself was a lonely stallion, longing only for companionship. but what did that mean for Phoenix? something had caused Phoenix to suddenly drop her spoon as she released it from her magical grip. *CLANG* it rang out as hit the floor. there was this strange feeling in her stomach, and she had no idea what it meant. it almost felt like some fuzzy entities putting pressure on the inside of her stomach, and such a feeling was rather nauseating. she would curse to her own body for giving her something like this at such a bad time, but it seemed as though all of this was beyond her influence. the symptoms were easy to see on her face, as she grew a bit pale. Phoenix couldn't tell if she was simply nervous, or if she truly was about to be sick. however, she decided to err on the side of caution, and she knew she needed to seek out a bathroom, immediately. and after she was done puking or whatever, she would need some time to herself to process all of this heavy information that was just given to her. she pushed herself out of her chair, as she stood, refusing to look into smokey's eyes. not because she didn't want to, but simply because her own body refused to let her. only a moment later, she turned tail and bolted out of the dining room, as she made her way back to the very same bathroom she had used before. no pony would have a chance to object as she shut the door with her magic as soon as her last hoof made its way across the threshold. she sat herself down against the far left wall, and tried to calm her own breathing. her heart was pounding harder than she had ever felt before, and the strange fuzzy feeling in her stomach continued. she put her head in her hooves as she tried to figure out what was going on. all of these foreign emotions were starting to drive her mad, and she wasn't sure how long she could go without knowing exactly what they were.
  15. @Blitz Boom Phoenix couldn't help but blush a tiny bit as Smokey so kindly offered her all of these things. although, at one point or two during his little pitch, it almost sounded as though he were bragging about his lifestyle a bit, which felt a tad unwelcome in her mind. she was more than happy that Smokey was willing to share it all, but such was only a sore reminder of the poverty she had to live through in her recent years. however, she felt too timid to let him know that. after all, his intentions didn't seem corrupt. she was a bit concerned about all of this fancy stuff, though. she pondered it as the sorbet was placed in front of her. unsurprisingly at this point, it tasted delicious. just like the fruit and the stew. however, this was on a different end of the spectrum. a creamy sweet substance, which she found herself going back to bite after bite. all of this seemed good enough to her. she wasn't entirely sure that anything like this could be topped. a nice hearty meal was the best kind to her, and smokey had done enough to provide one already. she didn't know if she wanted to go through so much work, simply for a bit of food. besides, she was more than positive that this "attire" would most likely be comprised of a dress, which she wasn't too keen on. perhaps some day when she was more comfortable with things. she decided to pipe up "really though... i think all of this that you've already given me is good enough. i'd be fine with staying here for our meals" she said, hoping to shake this idea from Smokey's head. at least for the time being. she was more than grateful for the meal she just had, and would be a hundred percent happy with them in the future.
  16. @Blitz Boom Phoenix scraped at the bottom of her stew bowl with her spoon, trying to get at each little puddle of the juices if she could. after all, she were a hungry mare, and she wouldn't let a meal as good as this go to waste. after she was sure she was finished with the bowl of stew, she began taking bites out of her half soggy piece of bread. she didn't really seem to mind it all that much, however. she quickly swallowed the last few bites as she attempted to answer Smokey's question, her mouth still somewhat full. it was clear that her attire were not all that needed to be worked on if they were to go to any sort of restaurant. "i can definitely wake up early" she said through a mouth full of bread. waking up at any point of the day had never really bothered her, living the sort of lifestyle that she had for the past decade or so. sometimes she would get stirred in the early hours due to some sort of danger sense, and other times due to her own terrors... Smokey went on and continued to conversation, as Phoenix tried her best to follow. of course, being done with her meal now afforded her more time to reply to his questions. "the stew was actually really good." she answered a bit sheepishly as she realized she had already finished, and Smokey was still working on his. she didn't have a wealth of knowledge when it came to manners, but she knew that it was somewhat polite to try and pace yourself. and truth be told, after Smokey was so kind to her and let her stay here as well as giving her such a great meal, she wouldn't really dream of troubling him so much to take her to a place that was so fancy it required clothing... what would she even wear? if Smokey was insistent on taking her, she would insist on a way to help make it up to him. "well, i wouldn't want to trouble you so much that you feel the need to spend so much money on me..." she refuted. while she already were receiving some special treatment, it would appear as though it wasn't too much trouble for Smokey to have her there. after all, he already had the cook as well as the extra bedrooms, but even with all that she still felt like she was causing Smokey more trouble than he needed. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ @Blitz Boom @Foxy Socks @Widdershins "oh yeah, flutters. me and her are pretty tight" she responded rather nonchalantly as she waves a hoof. it was clear that even the shy one had attracted a few fans after becoming one of the elements of harmony. it was certainly nice to be a role-model for young fillies and colts alike. although Fluttershy typically wasn't the social butterfly, Rainbow knew that she always liked making new friends. "you know, if you'd like i can always introduce you to her", she offered as she gave a shrug, while fluttering a foot or two off the ground. but it looked like that would have to wait, as an intruder suddenly burst in with a rather fiery looking bird. the next moment or two was a bit of a blur to Rainbow, as she had absolutely no clue what was going on, but she backed away a bit as the bird appeared to be friends with Foxy herself.
  17. @Blitz Boom Phoenix continued to eat her stew as Smokey gave her an answer. as long as she wanted? it certainly sounded nice. she could get used to being around Smokey, as well as this lifestyle. after all, this was the best food she had ever eaten, the best bath she had ever taken, and the best bed she had ever slept in. it wasn't going to grow old any time soon but, there was certainly more motivation in her mind. that little daydream session she had in the shower proved that to her. well, hopefully she would have plenty of time to figure all of that out. as she heard that Smokey would be going out somewhere on his own tomorrow, she couldn't help but frown a little bit. she was hoping to be around him a bit more so she can find her answers. she could definitely understand the fact that two Ponies can't really be around each other every moment of the day, but the thought of having to stay here for a few hours while he was away sounded... boring. not only did it sound boring, but she would feel awkward in this house all on her own. especially if that other mare were around. Phoenix could definitely tell that there were some tension between them, although she couldn't tell what it was about. in any case, Phoenix would do her best to stay by Smokey's side if she could. she didn't like the idea of being left in an unfamiliar place all on her own especially after her anxiety had proved to her that doing so was a bad idea. "l-let me come with" she plead. she wasn't sure why her tone came off as if she were begging. was the idea of being away from Smokey for just a little while really that terrible in her mind? she calmed herself down, and decided to build herself a case "I won't get in the way, i promise. i can just stay behind you the entire time if you'd like" she added. she would go a long way to cooperate if it meant she didn't have to be stuck in this big house without him. after all that, she had nervously continued to eat her stew, whilst waiting for a reply. she attempted to distract herself with the stew, so that she didn't have to get nervous about how Smokey might reply.
  18. @Blitz Boom as Phoenix continued eating all of the fruits, the thoughts were still swirling around in her mind. it wasn't something that was easy to come to terms with, but after spending a lot of time with him, she was most definitely growing attached. she could see herself traveling with him more, and joining him on his adventures. it would be a lot more interesting than her dinky little camp in the woods. in fact, although she had called it home for years, she already wasn't missing it. she had no personal possessions to leave behind, besides what she had gathered to survive. and it looks like she didn't need it here. but then she began to ponder more. how long was she going to live here? she couldn't simply live here for free. although she was sure Smokey could support it, she wouldn't want to disrespect him like that. her train of thought was put to an abrupt halt as the plate of fruits, which was now empty, was removed from in front of her, and replaced with a delicious looking bowl of vegetable stew. as the scent wafted into her nasal cavities, she couldn't help but lick her lips. it was absolutely the object of her attention for the time being. her horn began to glow with it's normal royal blue aura, and the spoon began to levitate from the bowl, surrounded by the same aura. she had gotten on it a hefty scoop, and shoveled it right into her maw. it very much contrasted the fruits, in that it was so savory as opposed to sweet. Phoenix seemed to really like it. in fact, she had almost never had anything this good in her entire life. if she weren't the pony that she were, she might have gotten a little emotional over the fact. after the thoughts of the stew had a chance to simmer in her mind, the thoughts from earlier began to resurface. and she couldn't go much longer without asking. it was a dumb question, or at least Phoenix thought it was, but it was one she had no answer for herself "so... how long am i going to stay here with you?" she asked as she looked up into Smokey's eyes, realizing that he seemed to be off in a distant world of his own. she could definitely get used to living in a place like this. what kind of pony wouldn't? but, she absolutely didn't want to be a burden. "i would hate to outlast my welcome..." she added. perhaps she would talk to Smokey about her feelings another time.
  19. @Blitz Boom although Phoenix didn't want to admit it, getting everything out like she had just done felt... good. it was almost as if a great pressure had been relieved. although she'd be hard pressed to talk about it more, doing so in the future might not be such a terrible idea. although half of her mind still wanted to deny it, she knew she felt something towards Smokey, or was beginning to at the very least. heck, she might have spoken up about it right then and there if Grim weren't around. although he seemed very trustworthy, she might prefer if it were just between Smokey and herself. for now, she would just go along with things. when the tray of various fruits was placed in front of her, she cocked her head a bit in curiosity. she were able to find some wild fruits in the woods, for sure, but never has she seen or even heard of many of the fruits that were currently in front of her. she was almost tempted to ditch whatever smokey was trying to tell her and just go at it like an animal, but she knew that these fruits were probably not easy to come by, and she should probably taste them one by one to get familiar with it, instead of a rude cacophony of flavors if she were to just shove half a dozen of them at once into her maw. she took them in the precise order that Smokey had instructed, making sure to begin with the right one. she really couldn't put any names on any of the small cubes of fruit, so she merely followed Smokey's lead. a royal blue aura surrounded the cubes of strawberry and banana, carrying them right to Phoenix's muzzle. she gently began to chew on them, letting the boldness of the strawberry and the subtlety of the banana dance around each other in her mouth. how dare she never have heard of these fruits before? they were simply divine! she only wished she could have had more. but then again, she did. her brief remorse over having no more strawberry and banana was quickly replaced by excitement with the fact that there were more unheard of fruits right in front of her! her mood appeared to brighten immediately as she moved on to the next bit of fruit. eventually, and without any care for consequence, Phoenix began to eat them in whichever order she desired, simply going towards whichever one caught her eye next. some of them appeared to please her, while others caused her to seem a tad confused, as if she were unsure whether or not she enjoyed it. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ @Blitz Boom @Widdershins @Foxy Socks Rainbowdash released her arm from around Foxy, and stood in front of her "so i guess we're just hanging out here for a while, yeah?" she said casually as she found a nearby seat and made herself comfortable, stretching her wings a bit before she folded them back at her sides. she knew that Rarity was probably a bit busy, but she had no issues with waiting around a bit for her friend. after all, Foxy seemed like she would enjoy it a little if she stuck around. "So then, Foxy... tell me a bit about yourself" she said with an awkward smile, trying ever so vigilantly to begin a conversation.
  20. @Blitz Boom although Phoenix had lost her appetite, there was absolutely no sense in denying her body the nutrients that she needed. that was the main reason she decided not to retreat back to a decent hiding spot after her long winded ramble. her head returned down to the table, where her folded forehooves covered her face. she listened to Smokey's reply, and she deeply appreciated the amount of sympathy he appeared to be showing. she weren't normally the type of pony who wanted sympathy, as receiving it was a deal more embarrassing than the situation itself. but, it didn't seem like it could be avoided at this point, so she took whatever Smokey could send her way with a pinch of dignity. along with the sympathy, came the sting of what almost appeared to be a compliment. no, in fact, it most definitely was a compliment. perhaps Smokey didn't mean to say it like that, but there was no denial. she could definitely understand Smokey's merits. after all, she knew she was attractive to some degree. she loathed the fact. but she would make no acknowledgement. considering the situation, taking a compliment like that would be almost like giving up her past and accepting things the way they are now. she wasn't sure if she were really ready to do that. she would need to find out soon. the questions have been dancing around in her mind for days. as she steeped over what she had done, and the consequences, she entered a state of inner anguish. her eyes began to idly explore the room through a small gap in her tiny fortress. her gaze traced the bottom of the glass that were in front of her. she almost wished to continue drinking it, but she refused it to herself. it was almost childish, how stubborn she were being. in any case, she wouldn't be able to hide her face forever. then, smokey assured her nothing would leave this room. "thank you..." she mumbled a bit through her forehooves. the reassurance had helped her to calm herself a bit. and then, she finally decided to face things. she were treating the whole situation as if she were a foal, being scolded by their mother. but enough with that. she finally lifted her face from the table, and avoided eye contact as she took hold of her wine glass, continuing to sip it. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ @Widdershins @Blitz Boom @Foxy Socks Rainbowdash trotted up behind Rarity, and peered over her shoulder, noticing the mess that they all seemed to be discussing. it looked like somepony had knocked over a small tea table, and a bit of it had spilled everywhere. along with some bits of broken glass. but now wasn't the time to worry about that. someone had taken notice that Rainbowdash was there. she would be a little creeped out, in light of the whole robot spider thing. for a good reason too. what's to stop the whole situation from repeating itself? after all, here stood one of the ponies from the whole ordeal right in front of her. but Rainbowdash had to push that to the side. after all, she couldn't ignore a fan. with a flap of her wings, she lept right over Rarity's head, landing out in front of the two guests "Rainbowdash at your service!" she announced with great volume and pride as she held a hoof to her own chest. she trotted around to the side of the unfamiliar mare, and put a hoof around her shoulder "don't sweat it, plenty of ponies have heard of me. being starstruck is pretty normal" she said rather casually, relating the Pony's shyness to her own presence. it's something she was used to seeing in the young colts and fillies who were over-excited at the notion of meeting a real celebrity. then she looked over at Briar, cocking her head once again at the Pony's strange appearance. however, he did explain that there was a draconicuus nearby, who was stirring up some chaos. she lept up into the air, and began hovering. "ah HA!" she exclaimed as she pointed a hoof in Rarity's direction "i told you i didn't do anything!"
  21. incorrect. the doctor, last we heard of his actual age was around 2000 or something. and i do understand, there was that one episode where he had to relive the same events for billions and billions of years while he punched through that massive diamond wall, but consider this: he relived those events for not that long each time, and he was REBORN into a newly summoned body or whatever as this all happened. which means through the whole process, he technically didn't age by a single year. so please, get your facts RIGHT. eherm... sorry, inner nerd coming out of me for a moment there.
  22. @Blitz Boom Phoenix lay her face down against the table, folding her hooves in front of her. perhaps if she didn't have to look him in the eye, which only increased the awkward factor, she'd be able to mumble out some answers of her own. she knew that Smokey would want to know more about her at some point, and after he was so kind and accomodating to her, she owed him that much. it would only be fair. her curse was no secret at that point, and it was all due to the vile creature in the forest. it was also very clear that Smokey was hinting at that when he had asked her that last question. what would she do differently? well, the obvious answer to that would have been to never have gone exploring that old witches shack. but it were a tad more complicated than that at this point. phoenix didn't like the question, though. it seemed like something that wasn't too in depth, and meant purely as a blunt force to try and break down her barriers. and Phoenix would be damned, because it was working. she had already decided in her mind that running away and hiding wasn't going to be an option anymore. and even if she did, what would happen? she'd probably make it a few hoofsteps outside before succumbing to her anxiety. she lifted her head up with a defeated sigh, as if she had lost some sort of psychological battle "i get it... you're referring to what that creature said" she responded. her voice was quiet. she went on, "and i suppose i should clear up the confusion... i had been living out in the wilderness nearly all my life, even when i was a young colt... that's right, i didn't grow up a filly... and when i was about ten, i came across a small cabin. it looked old and abandoned, so i figured i'd check to see if i could use it as shelter, or at the very least find some supplies. however, i wasn't the first to have found it. there was a sorceress, a witch. and she cursed me for trespassing. that's how i ended up like this" and with that, she used her hooves to gesture down at her body. it was rather feminine, with a light frame, only about two thirds the size of Smokey, complete with Soft Marish curves. to match, she had a soft feminine face. "but that was nearly twelve years ago. I've been living like this for longer. I've come to terms with my situation years ago, but only under a few conditions." a couple of the simpler conditions have already been broken, and all of the others were currently being tested. she hoped that Smokey would be able to see her dilemma, without her needing to state it explicitly. and she hoped that speaking up and clearing the air about it would satisfy Smokey, and would lead him to understand that she didn't like being bothered about the subject.
  23. @Blitz Boom Phoenix continued to sip on her glass of wine as she listened to Smokey. admittedly, she was starting to enjoy the taste of it. she could see why some ponies seemed to love the stuff so much. though quite honestly, in a thirst quenching moment, she'd likely rather have some water. she analyzed Smokey's answer in her own mind. so he still had his family? that was more than what could be said about her. she had lost them at such a young age, that she didn't even know how she would act around them now, if they were still here. she was a bit jealous at the fortune of others, but she had long finished her mourning. one thing that Caught Phoenix's attention, was that he never mentioned anything about strange mares. she had heard stories about Stallions who would invite a different mare to their homes each night, especially if they had money. of course, not all were the same, and she were certainly glad to see that Smokey wasn't like that. there was that odd feeling again. she wasn't entirely sure why, but the thought of another strange mare in here... it almost made her feel... jealous? surely that bump on her head had done a bit more damage than she thought. or was it simply the fact that living as a mare was beginning to grow on her? after all, she had been one now for a little over half her life. was the old version of Phoenix still in there somewhere? or was her old identity out the window at this point? clearly, there was a battle raging in her mind that has yet to be decided. and it would seem as though some more ammunition had been dumped onto that battlefield, in the form of a question, one that Phoenix recognized was in Smokey's voice. she snapped out of her daze, and nearly choked a bit on her wine, as Smokey had asked the question. "how do i wish to raise my foals?" she repeated to herself in her mind. the mere idea sent shivers down her spine, and it wasn't in a good way. having foals of her own was a subject that her mind never before dared to go near. after all, she never expected herself to even think about romance, but here she was. as much as she wanted to pretend that she had no feelings towards smokey, she couldn't help but take into consideration the fact that she had been thinking about him a bit too much. but the idea of having foals? that was a bit too much. she never would, at least not while this curse plagued her. that would mean she would have to... with a stallion...? through all this mental turmoil, she realized she still had yet to provide Smokey with an answer. she placed the glass down, and coughed a bit into her hoof to try and clear her trachea of any wine droplets that may have found themselves down there. with an intense blush shining through her orange fur. "w-well, i d-don't really know..." geez, was that the best she could muster?
  24. @Blitz Boom Phoenix sat in silence, with a slight smile on her face as she listened to Smokey tell her about his career. listening to him tell his stories has proved to be rather interesting thus far. she didn't know what it was about him, but she found herself being very attentive. perhaps one day later she'd ask him to tell her more stories about his adventures. it's certainly alot more interesting than her life, living out in the woods. or at least, she thought so. after all of this, she was rather surprised that Smokey hadn't asked her anything. especially about what that wretched draconicuus had revealed about her. she was sure that she would have to talk eventually, but hearing Smokey talk first would definitely help her to open up. to her surprise, he had just about answered all of her questions as to where he got the money for all of this. she had opened her muzzle to let one of her questions out, but found that the information she wanted was already present in his little speech. so she sat there stumped for a minute or two. stalling to think of something to ask, she decided to have a go at the wine. did Smokey say something about it containing alcohol? she had never had anything like it before. with her magical grip, she levitated the glass down in front of her face. it looked light, and fragile. nothing like she had ever handled before. she very gently pressed the edge of the glass to her lower lip, noting how smooth it felt. she tipped it up, and took a small, cautious sip of the red liquid. although she could most certainly taste the fruitiness of the drink, it had another strange aspect to it she couldn't quite describe. she could only imagine it was the taste of alcohol. it didn't seem very strong, but it was doing no good at masking itself. she wasn't quite sure what to make of it. as she took a sip, and then another just to try and confirm it, her eyes began to wander around the room. looking at the large kitchen, and the large table, and the large, well... everything. and then a question came to mind. she ever so gently let the glass back down onto the table, and she spoke up "why the big house, though? do you expect guests often?"
