No, it doesn't neccesarrily mean that. The protein (ovocledidin-17, if you like to know the names of your proteins), for lack of a better term I can think of atm, randomly developed in the original chicken- without the protein developing, the mutation that made it "the chicken" would render it infertile, since the protein was necessary for the egg's crystallization.
