Brohooves Received

  1. Wick smiled as Blue Heart entered, grinning as he placed his bookmark on his page and set the book he'd been reading aside. "Hey there, Blue Heart." He said, rising from his relaxed position and peering at the unicorn from over his reading glasses. Hearing her request, he paused. "Well, not stocked, no... I can make one for you, though. Haven't used the heart mold since I made all of those special candles for Hearts and Hooves Day." He said, chuckling as he headed towards the back of the store. "Just a second... Should have some daffodil oil around here somewhere." He scanned the shelves of various ingredients grinning as he finally spotted a small vial labeled "Daffodil Oil". Floating it down off the shelf, he hummed lightly as he pulled out the mold, a wick, and some unmelted wax as well. Humming, he set to work, measuring out the length of the wick and the amount of wax he would need. Setting the wax in a melting pot over a fire, he hummed, tossing in the oil and a bit of dye for coloring. Placing the wick in the center of the mold, he gently poured in the now melted wax, grinning as he did. "Right, well, it'll take a few hours to cool, but, shouldn't be too long." He said proudly, smiling. He blinked as though realizing something. "Oh, shoot, I didn't even stop to ask if you even wanted me to custom make it... heh, sorry, I can get a bit ahead of myself some times..." He admitted, rubbing the back of his head sheepishly.
  2. Wick sighed happily as he made it back to his shop. Pushing open the door, the bell chimed and he trotted inside. Humming lightly, he headed to a nearby lantern in the window with the words "OPEN" carved into the wrought iron front. Pulling open the back of it, he closed his eyes and focused on the three candles inside it. A moment later, with a slight puff of air, they lit, and Wick smiled happily as he closed the gate on the back. Heading back behind the counter, he hummed lightly, inspecting the shelves upon shelves of candles. He made sure they were all in the right place and, indeed, they were. There were the unscented ones on the shelf to the right, the scented ones on the left, the time keeping candles with a bit of powder in the wick to make them pop were in a case near the front... They didn't sell too often, given the convenience of clocks and watches, but, some people bought them anyways, as antiquities of sorts, or timers. Humming, he took his usual spot behind the counter and sat down. Sighing as he stared at the door for a few minutes, he sighed, floating a book over to him and opening it up. Usually when the store was empty, he liked to read.
  3. ((Probably best if your character just spoke to him and it wasn't shown.)) Wick smiled as they reached the more residential area of town. He didn't get to see this side of town very often, and always enjoyed the quaint looks of the cottages and houses. That's not to say he didn't like his apartment, far from it, he loved the convenience of living above his own store, but sometimes he yearned for a house. With a gentle smile, he nodded. "Well, everyone, it was nice to meet you, but, I've got to open the shop in... " He glanced at his watch. "Five minutes ago. Oh, hay, I've got to go! See you all! Swing by the store and I'll give you a free candle, or... something!" He called, turning and galloping off towards the town square and his store.
  4. ((I can do the mayor for now.)) Wick nodded happily at Easel, smiling as he said, "Oh, yeah... Adventures are definitely some of my favorites, although, a mystery is good every once in a while, too. Daring Do and Sherlock Hooves share equal space on my shelves." He chuckled and followed the group inside to look around the building. He'd been here a few times before, mostly for permits to open his shop, but he really enjoyed the atmosphere. It was very... Bureaucratic. 'You know, if that's comforting to me, I think I might have a problem...' He thought to himself with a shrug. In the back, the mayor sat behind his desk, a pile of paperwork on either side of him. Peeking between the towers of forms, he smiled lightly, his monocle glinting, and mustache bouncing as he spoke up, "Ah, Ms. Darkspire, correct? Well, welcome to Colt's crossing, We've got your living accommodations all set up for you, and are glad you accepted our offer. With winter coming so soon around the corner, we'll definitely be needing your services as a weather-pony." Walking out from behind his desk to reveal his grey coat and black mane he looked rather posh. "The key to your home should be around here somewhere..." He glanced around, noticing it on the edge of his deck and smiling as he picked it up between his teeth and tossed it to here. "The address for your house is on the back of the key... Shouldn't be too hard to find, just ask around, really. People are quite friendly here, I promise!" He laughed loudly, shaking his head before taking his place back behind his deck. "I hope you don't mind me cutting this a bit short... Lots of paperwork..." He motioned to the piles on his desk, and he sighed. "And once again, welcome to Colt's Crossing!"
  5. Wick blinked, watching as the throng of ponies trailing behind this (surprisingly knowledgeable) earth pony grew and grew, new ponies arriving by the minute. "Um, I know I don't get outside all that much, but, is there something going on today? I haven't seen this many ponies from out of town in... Well, I never have, I don't think." He whispered over into Easel's ear. "Oh, and, the story of Winter Wind... I just love it, you know? The way he wrestled a bear to the ground with nothing but his hooves and then it let him stay in his cave for the night out of respect." He laughed loudly at the thought, pausing at the outburst and smiling sheepishly. Coughing to regain his composure, he smiled. "So, are you the official town welcomer now? I don't remember there being one when I got here a few years ago." He joked with a grin.
  6. Wick chuckled as they were guided to the town square, following behind the group with a chuckle. "I never get sick of this view." He said fondly, looking around at all the stores. "And over there on the right's my store!" He said, pointing a hoof towards a quaint looking store with a red shingled roof and a glass display window that had dozens of candles of all colors and sizes in it. "If you ever need a candle, you won't find better ones in all of Equestria... Well, okay, you might, but, it's the only candle and lantern shop in Colt's Crossing." He said, chuckling as he shuffled his hooves a bit, glancing down at them. He always hated plugging his shop to newcomers in town, but, he found it generated business, so, he didn't mind TOO much.
  7. Wick blinked as he nodded. He'd half expected to get reprimanded for bumping into her and very nearly scalding her with his coffee, but, she was just being... Friendly. Shaking his head as he tried to stop thinking so much, he chuckled and nodded his head. "Yeah, that's my store." He said with a chuckle. "My name's Candle Wick." He said, smiling a bit... Oddly. It was as though the expression was a tad foreign on his face, and he had to remember just how to achieve it. Sighing, he turned to leave before hearing her invitation. "Help show them around? Well... Sure, I guess. It's always nice to have a trot about town and..." He glanced down at his watch. He still had plenty of time until he needed to open the store. "Well, I've got some time to kill, so why not?" Nodding to the group behind Easel, he grinned. "Welcome to Colt's Crossing, everypony."
  8. Wick finally arrived at the marketplace with a smile. He always had mixed feelings about the market place. On its busier days he tended to avoid it, but, it seemed to be nice enough today. Making his way over to his favorite stall he smiled to the owner. "Good morning, Miss... Can I have a cup of coffee?" He asked, smiling as he floated a bit from his bag onto the counter. The mare running the stand nodded and a few moments later pressed the dark, piping hot brew towards him. Sniffing it gently, his expression seemed to melt into a dopey smile. There were few thins he enjoyed more than the fragrance of dark coffee. 'Hm, perhaps a coffee flavored candle would sell well...' He mused to himself as he floated the cup up and took a gentle, cautious sip. It was still far too hot to be enjoyed properly, but, he had avoided burning his own tongue thankfully. "Thanks!" He called over his shoulder to the stall owner and hummed as he headed off to find some more of his ingredients. In fact, he was so wrapped up in his coffee and thoughts of his day, he didn't notice the group that had assembled nearby. Bumping into the side of a green earth pony, he yelped a bit in surprise as he stumbled, losing his focus on the coffee for a moment. His eyes went wide as he watched it fall, gulping before closing his eyes, his horn glowing brightly as he regained his telekinetic grip on the beverage. "Phew!" He exclaimed, breathing a bit heavy. Placing a hoof to his chest he smiled, this time putting the coffee upright in his bag to make sure this didn't happen again. Looking up, the colt chuckled nervously, "Terribly sorry about that..." He muttered, noticing just who it was he'd bumped in to. "Oh... Easel, right?" He asked, hoping he'd remembered her name correctly. "Erm, didn't see you there... I was a bit wrapped up in... Well, coffee. Are you alright?" Another awkward laugh escaped his lips, and he sighed. Noticing the large group with them, he blinked, clearly curious as to the reason of the assembly. It wasn't every day you saw so many unfamiliar faces in Colt's Crossing.
  9. I thought The Last Roundup was alright, but, it felt really rushed. I wished they had made it a 2 parter if anything. It felt like they were trying to cram too much into 20 minutes, when a full 40 would have helped flesh it out a lot more. In fact, I think if they did more 2 part episodes, it would just be an all around good move.
  10. Well, when I say "absurdity" I mean the torn up outfit, the frazzled mane, and the eyepatch. You'd think they'd at least question the eyepatch.
  11. I loved this episode so much. It was just fun. Sure, it was a bit predictable, but, I love the "Twilight is neurotic" episodes, like Lesson Zero, because I know a lot of people who act just like her, and it just makes me giggle inwardly to see them paralleled so well. Not to mention all of the subtle terminator things. And Celestia and the guard's completely calm attitude towards Twilight's absurdity makes me wonder if she ever used to do stuff like this when she was a student. I'd say yes, honestly.
  12. Wick sighed gently as he trotted down the stairs from his loft, eyes still half closed as he made his way into the shop below, the stairs leading behind the counter. His eyes squinted as he floated his vest off of the nearby stud on the wall which he hung it on every night. Slipping into it, he glanced around, looking for his glasses, noticing the blurry outline of black on the counter. Sighing, he floated them up and onto his nose, accidentally poking himself in the eye with them as he did. "Ow! Ponyfeathers!" He said, bringing up a hoof to rub the pained eye before properly setting down his glasses on his nose. Blinking a few times to ease the soreness, he sighed, stretching out his legs before glancing around the store. He'd gotten up early enough that the store didn't 'open' for another hour, even though he usually opened early. Shrugging, he grabbed his saddlebags, floating them onto his back and heading out the door, making it ring quaintly before heading for the market. He really felt like some coffee this morning... Maybe he could pick up some beeswax and honey while he was there.
  13. Name:Candle Wick Age: 24 Gender:Male Species: Unicorn Appearance: A cream colored unicorn with an auburn orange man, Wick doesn't look like a pony who goes outside very often. He's got some bags under his eyes, and wears thin-framed glasses perched atop his nose. A small black watch ticks on his forehoof, and he's rarely seen outside. CutieMark: A lit red-candle Personality: A bit secluded, Wick sometimes come off as a curmudgeon. He's occasionally baffled by everypony's, and hides his own shyness behind annoyance, but, when you get to know him, he's nice and genuinely cares. Backstory: The son of a unicorn and pegasus, Wick was raised in Phillydelphia. He loved the city and often romped about on some of the city's rainy or snowy days as a young colt. He did well enough in school, and began to apprentice under his father in their candle and lantern making shop. When he got older and finally decided to move out, he took the money he had saved up from summer jobs and working with his father to buy a small shop in Colt's Crossing with a loft above it and moved out there. Since then, he's been selling candles and lanterns to the ponies who live there... He's not very fond of lightbulbs, though. Other:He really likes rainy and snowy days.
  14. Oh god, that's just too adorable. I've recently been getting into the apple-dash ship a lot more, but, to be entirely honest, I think Dash works a lot better with Twilight, just because they provide a really nice balance for one another. Twilight gets to be more adventurous and spontaneous thanks to Dash, and Dash gets the opportunity to be a bit more worldly and humble. I still have a hard time seeing the Big Macintosh x Fluttershy ship, though... I'm not sure why, I just can't see it. One that I like surprisingly well is, of course, Soarin' x Pie.
  15. I'm semi-open about it... If anyone asks them I'll tell them, and I'll talk about it with my other bronies in public, but I don't go out of my way to tell people, because that's just not my kind of personality. Still, I'm not much into the merchandise side of it either, so, it doesn't come up a lot.
