  1. Pink pone is best pone And yeah, I think the show promotes a lot of ideology that, while not exclusive to Christianity, does appear in Christ's teachings, as far as loving people and being generous and selfless and loyal and honest, etc. Clearly, it doesn't (and can't) really promote Christian theology, and I wouldn't expect it to, but I do see it teaching a lot of Christian mores.
  2. I would love to (and I may give it a shot), but I've never really done any kind of video editing before. It definitely deserves to be PMV'd though.
  3. Personally—and it really is just personal preference—I don't like sexual jokes much. It has a lot to do with being a Christian, but let's not get into that here. Point is, I tend to find sexual jokes unnecessary and irritating, so I appreciate the show not having them. As for realism, yeah the show can be a bit corny at times, but I do think the characters are very realistic and relatable, at least in comparison to many other shows targeting a young audience. Their personalities are very unique from one another, and the writers do a good job (in my opinion) of not making them act out of character to create conflict. Relationships? That's certainly be an interesting thing to see happen. I wouldn't mind it at all. Whether or not they'll do it, though, is a different question entirely. Again, though, just my opinion.
  4. Well, I'm fairly new to the Reformed Presbyterian Church, but one of the big things I've noticed is that they hold to the Regulative Principle of worship rather than the Normative Principle—i.e., they believe that only what Scripture expressly prescribes is acceptable worship, rather than that anything not expressly forbidden is acceptable. This usually boils down to exclusive Psalmody, or only singing Psalms in corporate worship. They also don't believe that musical instruments are to be used in worship. Considering I came from Charismatic, where there's a worship band and people jump up and down and dance and scream and shout in worship, it's a bit of a change. I'm not sure I agree with the necessity of exclusive Psalmody, but at the same time, I do see the value of singing Psalms. Reformed Presbyterian theology also seems to hold to the idea of predestination. I'm also not sure where I stand on that issue. They also believe in infant baptism, at least for those born into Christian families. Obviously, if someone isn't raised as a Christian but comes to Christ later on, they'd be baptized when they came to Christ, not as an infant. But the reasoning is that they believe baptism to be a sign of the new covenant just as circumcision was a sign of the old covenant. Baptism doesn't guarantee salvation, just as even circumcised Israelites could be cast out of the nation for one reason or another. Reformed theology also asserts the absolute sufficiency of Scripture. This leads to the belief that God no longer speaks directly to His people, but He speaks through Scripture. So according to Reformed theology, there's no more prophecy or direct revelation from God, and speaking in tongues no longer happens, either. The sufficiency of Scripture is also further support of the Regulative Principle of Worship. There's a whole lot more to it than that, I'm sure, but I don't know it all. I do understand that they hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith, but I don't know what all that entails.
  5. I don't really consider myself as "belonging" to any denomination. I presently attend a Reformed Presbyterian church, even though I attended a Charismatic church for most of my life. Far as I can tell, we're all just Christians, long as we believe Christ was who He said He was!
  6. "When I Find My Wings" by MandoPony. Song's fantastic. Dude's brilliant. Listen to his stuff. You won't regret it.
  7. I think it's a bit much to say that His divinity was "clearly" bologna. Sure, there's really no proof that He was who He claimed to be, but there's no proof to the contrary, either. I'm not saying that the inability to disprove His divinity proves His divinity, either. I'm just saying that it's impossible to have absolute logical certainty either way. And yeah, it was violent, but crucifixion was a violent death. And whether He was the Son of God or just insane, He was determined in His belief and in His love for the very people who were torturing and killing Him, so determined that He willingly suffered that death for the belief that it would offer them salvation from worse. Whether He was right or not aside, the point is that He made an incredible sacrifice for love. At least, that's the idea of that movie. And I really don't think it's anti-Semitic, and least not in a general sense. It just happened that the Jewish religious leaders of the day were the ones to kill Him. That's not meant to be a commentary on modern Jews, just a depiction of historical events As for why that movie can get away with that and Frozen can't get away with "homosexual agendas" (which really weren't there), I'll just say that one old lady's criticism doesn't really mean much. There'll always be critics of anything anyone disagrees with. Far as I can tell, it's hardly worth getting worked up over. If they want to complain, let 'em complain.
  8. Not that it totally justifies the evident double standard, but from what I understand, there is significant historical evidence that Jesus was a real person who really was crucified. Whether or not He was the Son of God is a different question altogether (although yes, I do believe He was). Of course, I couldn't provide you with that historical evidence of His existence off hand, and I may be mistaken that it even exists. And if I am, I apologize for my ignorance. But if indeed there is such evidence, then that makes The Passion of the Christ, at least to some extent, a theatrical interpretation of historical events.
  9. Say what you will about the whole "Rainbow Power" thing, but honestly, I'm excited about it.

      Gyruss

Eh, if I were to go with words to describe how I felt, I'd go with "mildly intrigued."

I'm just excited about the show in general. They've never really done anything that truly disappointed me, and more often than not, everything they've done has worked out well, so I'm excited to see how this new direction looks.

  10. Yeah, man enough...... let's go with that........ and pretend it's not just that I'm not creative enough to create my own thing.......... or that I'm too lazy to find one....................
  11. I would love to, but since my Christian faith is more important to me than my bronyhood, I'd only do it if I was able to carry that over. It might not have to look exactly the same, but as long as I could believe in the same God. Sort of like a Chronicles of Narnia kind of deal, where there are tons of different worlds, and God exists in all of them, but just in different forms and with different names.
  12. Right here! Grew up and spent most of my life in a non-denominational/Charismatic church, but I've recently started attending a Reformed Presbyterian church. Interesting change to say the least, but it's brought me a much needed fresh perspective. Good to know I'm not the only one who loves God and geeks out about ponies!
  13. Life is most excellent! Well, aside from the aforementioned lack of fellow bronies to fangasm with, but worse things could happen. I was just listening to MandoPony's "When I Find My Wings" again. That song is so stinkin' good, even my best friend who won't even entertain the notion of watching an episode of ponies loved it.
  14. So I'm considering getting minimalistic tattoos of all the Mane 6 along with their element of harmony. I'm not sure I'll ever actually do it, but I know I never will if I don't get the tattoos designed. Would someone be willing to draw something like that up? I would plan to put them on the underside of my forearms, three on one arm and three on the other. So if anyone wants to design that for me, that'd be great!
  15. My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Pinkie Pie How did you find MLP Forums?: I was Googling "Christian bronies", and a thread in MLPF came up. How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: I got a front desk job at a hotel in April, 2011, and one of my coworkers told me to watch the show. Naturally, I was like, "Psh, whatevs. You crazy." But then at some point, the "Giggle At the Ghostly" song showed up on my Facebook News Feed, and I was all, "*sigh* I guess I'll watch this one video and see what all the fuss is about." And then my brain melted from dangerous levels of adorableness. So I've been a brony ever since! Welp, I'm a college student at the time being, studying Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communication. I'm also a devout Christian—one of the few things I'm more enthusiastic about that ponies—and while I attended a non-denominational, "Charismatic" church for most of my life, I recently started attending a Reformed Presbyterian church. Quite a change there, considering Charismatics are about at liberal as they come in terms of theology, while Reformed Presbyterians are extremely conservative. But they're all Christians, which is why I don't identify myself as being one denomination or another. And it's always a good thing to step out of my comfort zone and expose myself to beliefs that challenge my own, 'cause otherwise I can't possibly learn or grow very much. Anyway, that's quite a bit about my faith (although I could go on for hours about it). I'm thinking about pursuing a career in journalism, or possibly becoming a freelance editor. I like words a lot. And language in general. I studied Mandarin Chinese for the past two and a half years, although I stopped studying it this semester because I didn't feel like I was learning anything anymore. If I want to learn the language (which I do), I'll just have to go there. Classrooms just don't do it for me with learning languages. I'm attending BronyCon this August! Woot! Pinkie is almost definitely my favorite, except for Fluttershy. Also Rarity, and let's not forget about Rainbow Dash. Ooh, and Applejack and Twilight! I think my favorite episode this season has been "Filli Vanilli" for the sole reason that BIG MAC IS A BASS IN AN A CAPELLA GROUP OH MY FLIPPING GOSH WHAT THE YES ALL OF IT TAKE ALL OF MY YES i DON'T NEED IT ANYMORE. Honestly, that may be my favorite episode period. Although "A Dog and Pony Show" is always hilarious. And "Pinkie's Pride", because Weird Al. It is a bit lonely being a brony where I live, though, as there aren't many others nearby. I suppose I can't complain, though. I could live, like, in the middle of Africa or something. And then there's TheLivingTombstone in Israel, who apparently had never met another brony until he attended BronyCon. So I guess I have it good. Still, it would be nice if I had people to connect with in person about ponies. Oh, well. I'd love to get involved in the fandom with art or music or fan fiction, but I just don't have the time while I'm in school. Too bad. Maybe some day. That's probably more than they meant when they said "Tell us about yourself!", but I don't care. Anything else you want to know, just ask! And yes, all you mares out there, I am single. Because I just know you were wondering. *eyebrows raise repeatedly* Anyway....................................
