  1. While I do not necessarily hate new music ( there is plenty of crap from the 60's and 70's, trust me), I have noticed that a number of newer bands and a number of music fans seem to gravitate to a number of the quality classic rock bands.

However, I think what I disagree with you the most is how you are viewing the discussion. Put bluntly, you need to widen your perspective several centuries. The fact that a large number of people still listen to composers that have been dead for hundreds of years is fascinating in and of itself. The same holds true for books and other forms of art. So I think there is much more to such things than simple personal taste, as it is very easy to appreciate quality in something without having much taste for it in a subjective sense. I don't like rap much, but I have been exposed to it enough to generally tell a good song from a bad one.

So for me, the question is not about how everyone's music sounds bad to the young-uns ( which isn't always the case in my experience anyway), but when I'm long dead and gone will people still listen to the music of artist so and so. Because at that point the music is no longer simple 'pop music', but has somehow managed transcend such terms and is like the music of Bach or Chopin. Namely, it has become timeless, and proved it's quality.

  2. If my Psychiatrist ever had the nerve to make me talk to him via webcam or something similar, he would have one less client and potentially a complaint made against him. That's got to be in top ten of unprofessional stunts to pull. And I'm sorry to hear about your Klonopin situation, I don't use much, but I can get nervous just by not having some with me.

  3. While I was writing this lesson, I was a little bit hesitant because I have been dealing with a lot of anxiety, and then I realized that I shouldn't put on a mask, but to be real, to share how I've really been doing.

I deal with a great deal of Anxiety as well, but a passage that was a real eye-opener to me was Philippians Chapter 3, in particular verse 8,

" More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ," (NASB)

As it is an incredibly freeing thing to view ones possessions or even ones reputation as something already taken away or damaged, which means I can enjoy such things when I do have them; but more importantly I am free to use them more for Christ ( and pardon the odd formatting of this reply ).

  4. I'm rather intrigued by topic of Baptism.

As I am rather interested in how someone would connect the doctrine of Baptism with MLP.

And on a personal level this interests me as someone who this past Summer, had to grapple with wether or not my view (adult Baptism ) was the proper one. I'm comfortable with my position now, but the experience made me more interested in the discussion itself than others would.

  5. Very impressive. I liked how you let the text speak for itself, as opposed to the common practice in most modern sermons of speaking for the text as it were ( the type that is more of a series of bad anecdotes, than a sermon).

A place I think you could improve on is by trying to provide a somewhat more obvious tie in with the text. As the general reader might have a bit of trouble following your reasoning. Maybe just make a quick comment like, "and so in the spirit of verse 7, Twilight's love for her friends perseveres."

But as I said I thought you did a great job overall, and I like your refreshingly straightforward approach ( you didn't try to make a square peg fit in a round hole).

  6. I agree for the most part, as Twi and Flutters quite honestly have much more severe mental breakdowns than the others. Pinkie comes in third I'd say; in her case it's the way she goes from one end of the spectrum to the other that can cause people to label her as the crazy one. Pinkie may sometimes get in a depressed state but she is a heck of a lot more stable than say Twilight, E.G. "Lesson Zero", "It's about time", and a couple episodes in Season one which I can't remember the names of at the moment. Or as RD put it in a recent episode, Twi has entire freakout arias.

  7. I've only been apart of the fandom since December but I understand how you feel. There are those days where something happens, and I sound like Antony C in the vid he made when Twi became an Alicorn in which his OC says, "I'm leaving this fandom!". Then there are those days I'm like, "Next episode is gonna be totally awesome! I just know it! Being a brony is super cool!"

So I think ups and downs are just part of the fandom, heck life in general. And you can't turn back the clock trying to recapture the feelings you had the first time you watched your favorite episode. But you can learn to roll with the ups and downs, and changes.

Instead of worrying that you can't enjoy an episode the way you used too, don't worry about, and think about it the same way you would an old easy chair. You don't have that same giddy or electric feeling as when you first got the chair; but now you actually appreciate it more because it's become a part of you or your affection for it has grown over time.

There will be drama, stuff that may make you think, "this will destroy the fandom" sometimes. But negative thoughts always try to creep in, we're still human after all. You don't pretend they don't exist (you being honest about how you've been feeling is a good thing), because you can't fight something if you don't acknowledge it's presence. I think another EG movie is a horrible idea and was genuinely bummed when I heard about it. But after a few days venting I recognized, "Yeah I'm not gonna like this movie, but I bet I'm gonna like the rest of most of this season and will like the next one too. I may not think it's as good as other seasons but I'm still gonna fine things I really like about it."

This is why the good and more mature analysts in the fandom Antony C and Silver Quill maintain a sort of guarded optimism. They avoid becoming blindly optimistic (if they notice a problem or potential problem they will say so) or Cynical (Antony C, by his own admission did say he can still enjoy "A Canterlot Wedding" despite his 30 minute long polemic against it; and even he said he found some enjoyable bits in the EQ movie).

I realize that was long and not dripping with warm and fuzzys. But I think it's a healthy way of thinking in the long run. If I was sitting in a park bird watching, it would be foolish of me to spend my time lamenting that the flock of blue birds (although I would remember them) from the previous day is gone, when a beautiful white dove is perched next to me. I hope you find the answer your looking for and Heaven bless you.

  8. I agree the fact that the show is about magical, talking, equines is part of what makes the show so appealing. 1. A show about cute Ponies stands out, doesn't guarantee one will like ,but does cause one to take a moment and say "what's all this then?!" 2. An actually well made show about Ponies is really going to make one take notice. 3. Ponies can do stuff humans can't, e.g. having a magical horn, flying, etc. Which means the story can have things others can't. ( Try to imagine a kid's show getting away with a humanized character that is immortal and can control the Sun ). 4. When the ponies do stuff that is "humanized", like wear a fake mustache, it's way more entertaining.
