    While that is a good theory, and I did draw parallels to the shows myself ( I loved Digimon in the day and it still has a special place for me), but if I remember correctly, Faust based FiM on stories she came up for her own MLP toys. I don't know about the Anime influence myself; I do know she looked at old-school Fantasy books like LOTR, Chronicles of Narnia, and Alice in Wonderland for inspiration though.

    My favorite Cage film is The Wicker Man, it is truly a work of art that for generations to come will be regarded as an all time cla... I'm sorry I couldn't keep a straight face saying that, was just a few letters from making it. But I do like the first National Treasure movie, and The Rock was pretty sweet.

    Probably my favorite TV series period ( yes, I like it more that MLP ) which I think is highly underrated is the anime: ( It's totes awesome bro! ) Also the shows Skip Beat! and Wagnaria are pretty underrated I think.

    It's due to the fact that fandoms are made up of humans, and that's what humans do. And if you want to engage in any kind of interaction with others or activity, you will get hit with stuff your not going to like. You don't have to change your convictions one bit, but you do have to be prepared to deal with such matters. Example: the famous voice actor Vic Mignogna has been in countless anime series but has a number of convictions about things that he won't budge on. So if he is doing a signing at a convention, there are some types of artwork he won't sign, and he will ask if they have something else he can sign. So while being exceedingly polite, he maintains his convictions but engages the anime fandom on his terms. So you may have to figure out how to do something in a similar spirit if you are wanting to get involved in MLP fan works. I hope I'm not be too vague, and that that helps you get a bit of perspective on how to respond in your situation.

    Welcome to the forums . And don't worry about having disliked Bronies because of a bad experience for a while or not being a "Brony" ( which is honestly a title that is rather amorphous in definition anyway ); because everyone before liking just about anything, is at first indifferent or confused by it, and if your first exposure to someone who does like the thing in question is negative, a standard reaction is to just dislike the thing out of reflex. I've seen people online who were simply trying understand what the appeal of MLP was, get flat out attacked as if not understanding Bronies was as bad as being a Neo-Nazi or something.

    1.(theory I've heard) Earth Ponies have a type of "Magic" tied to the Earth, that allows them to grow crops much better than the other races as an example. 2.( My personal headcannon) The reason Celestia lost to Chrysalis back during "Canterlot Wedding", is because the prior night she had too much cider to drink the night before; thus compromising her concentration during combat.
