Generalized responses such as that don't work well in a constructive disagreement, if I may say.

You need to look more into the facts, and but yourself in their situation. You may think yours is bad, but it is possible for theirs to be worse as well. And, people have varying degrees of thresholds they can take, stress wise. What may make you spiral into depression, may only make another cry, and vise versa.

I wont go on, because you obviously do not wish to continue...
