  1. I would love to begin recording myself covering MLP songs, but when I sing, it sounds like a dying walrus wearing a really tight girdle.

      I'm now imagining a Walrus wearing a girdle.... Anyway, with a bit of training I bet you could sing fine. Unless you are completely tone death, there is hope and I doubt that is the case.

      You just need to learn to lift your soft palate, which is the area towards the back of the top of your mouth just after the hard part. When you sing a "La" it will not only help you to develop the ability to lift your soft palate but it opens up your mouth; which is what you want to maintain when singing.

      Also remember to breath from the diaphragm. I bet you could find some more info and illustrations easy online somewhere.
