Sorry if I sound rude, or come off as the old man who's afraid of change, but I never quite understood why people bought the toys.

It's like a collecting hobby. I already do it with Japanese anime PVC statues/figures. I am not sure why I do it but I guess it's the fact I can surround myself in stuff I like.
