386029 Well, it doesn't happen much to me then, I guess. Sitting around waiting for it doesn't do much good. Working for it doesn't do much good. Oh boy.

386027 Why does "Happiness" require so much work that in the end you'll just end up more unhappy by trying to achieve it? This makes no sense.

You know, I think it'd be pretty cool to have like a huge 4-part story at some point. Maybe for the series finale. But not normally, I think the 2-parters are just fine as it is. If we had two 3-4 parter stories every season, that's 6-8 episodes used, a lot less time for normal slice of life stuff, which is the main meat of the show. If they did use a larger multi-part story, I'd want it to be a really special one-off kind of thing.
-
Well, this was only one episode, I assume she'll be in at least a few more over the season, so hopefully we will get to see this. Just likely not something to do with Time travel again. I'd imagine it was a mix of a lot of things, on both ends. Sunburst probably started to get stressed, and he maybe didn't want to lie to Starlight about how he was doing, but didn't want to admit the truth to her that he was failing (Even though he eventually did lie.). Maybe he realized he kind of suddenly just "Abandoned" his friend, even if unintentionally, and was too worried about how she'd react.

I would assume, that even if they had thought of this, they likely wouldn't have wanted to do it. After seeing the effects of Starlight's last travel through time, they'd probably want to be pretty cautious about it, even if it is a different context. If Starlight goes back and saves the Crystal Heart herself, who knows what weird effects that could have? Even a minor change could ripple out and cause some bad stuff. Well, when he was enrolled it was right after getting a Cutie Mark in magic, while Starlight was still a blank flank. She didn't seem very jealous, but it could be one reason. I actually am curious as to the exact reason they didn't send letters to each other.

High Potential for CMC This Season
BastementSparkle replied to ThatAnonymousPony's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
It would go completely against their development, contradict what happened in Crusaders of the Lost mark, make very little sense, and be the first thing in this show to legit make me mad. Unless they had a very, very good reason for it. I really want to know...Why do you think they'd split up, just because they have their cutie marks? What do you think the reason for that happening would be? -

BastementSparkle replied to ThatAnonymousPony's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Okay, great. Glad you enjoy these. But what makes the CMC's marks so different? You keep mentioning them drifting apart, is that the reason why it upsets you, because you seem to think that's what will happen. -

Okay, but why's a change to status quo bad? Twilight becoming a Princess is a status quo change, as is Discord's reformation, or Starlight's reformation. The tree being destroyed, the castle, Rainbow slowly reaching her goal of getting into the Wonderbolts...Do you dislike these? If you do, is it because you think they were handled badly, or would you just prefer the show remain the same, with characters just going on a weekly adventure, and nothing permanently changing? -

Okay, but why? Why do they bother you? Why are you convinced the CMC will stop being friends? Why do you think they need to lose their marks? I want to know why this frustrates you so much, is it just because it's a change to status quo? Do you wish they had different marks? What is the problem? -
spoiler Not a fan of Flurry Heart?
BastementSparkle replied to ThatAnonymousPony's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Who's to say she will? Celestia and Luna raise the sun and moon, we don't know what the baby does, if it can do anything yet. Maybe since she was born from an Alicorn like Cadance, an "Artificial" one, she might not be immortal, or all-powerful. We've never seen if there were any past princesses like Cadance or Twilight before, maybe Flurry is the first alicorn born since Equestria was founded, because this is the first time an Alicorn has had a baby since then? Babies are kind of helpless and require their parents to survive. So I could agree about this, but she likely won't have a big impact on the show. I don't blame you for disliking her, I just think people are making a bit of a bigger deal out of it than necessary. -

I didn't say anything about revenge? Not sure what you're getting at, and they're not going to be blank flanks again. Sorry. I'm not sure why you're upset about that? -

BastementSparkle replied to ThatAnonymousPony's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Okay, no really...Why do you think that? I don't understand what gave you this idea? Because, that completely goes against their development, and what happened in Crusaders of the Lost Mark. -
High Potential for CMC This Season
BastementSparkle replied to ThatAnonymousPony's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Well, this seasons theme is "Exploring Equestria" who says they'll only be helping in Ponyville? Why would they disband? In "Crusaders of the Lost Mark" they decided what they wanted to do was use their talents to help other ponies get their marks, and that that's how they would continue the Cutie Mark crusaders. Unless you're suggesting that in the span of a single episode they would completely abandon their new goal, and their very close friendship for...What? -
spoiler Not a fan of Flurry Heart?
BastementSparkle replied to ThatAnonymousPony's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Nothing against anyone who dislikes Flurry, but some of the points against her are a bit...well, silly. "She can already fly and use magic!" so can Pound and Pumpkin Cake, it's already been established baby ponies can do that, and then lose the ability as they age, Flurry Heart is not special just because she can do these things. Even if she is more powerful, that likely won't last, once she's older she'll have to relearn everything. "Why was she born an Alicorn?! That's not fair!" and yet these same people complain about Celestia and Luna possibly not being born alicorns? First off, that's not what the episode said, it said Equestria has never seen the birth of an Alicorn, Celestia and Luna are from before Equestria. If Celestia and Luna were born Alicorns, that means they didn't earn it either though. Flurry Heart is already a Princess anyway by virtue of being Cadance's daughter. She's not a Mary Sue either, she keeps screwing up, and she's a baby, she barely has a personality yet. Plus, she likely won't appear for more than like...3 or 4 episodes this season, it's not like she's going to become a new main character. -
spoiler Season 6 Opener wasn't good. Worse than Season 4's
BastementSparkle replied to TheMarkz0ne's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Personally, this was one of my favorite openers. Only beaten out by season 2 and 5. I just loved a lot of things about it, I loved Starlight, and this was one of Spike's best episodes in a while, Sunburst was a great character and the interactions between the three of them were wonderful. The baby wasn't too interesting, but she was pretty adorable at least, exhausted Shining Armor was entertaining, Celestia and Luna got to be useful for once, Twilight was adorkable... Really, to me this episode comes down to the characters, and I thought they all were written really well, so I had a good time with it. I don't need a bigger threat every opener. -
Well, Sunburst is staying in the Crystal Empire, and Starlight's heading back to Ponyville to continue being Twi's student, though they promised to keep in touch. I don't think they'll become an unstoppable duo right now, but if they ever had to work together again, I could imagine that being the case.

He didn't. He clearly still levitates books around and does magic in the present, so he still has it. If you pay attention to the flashbacks at the start of the episode, you'll notice something interesting. Sunburst kept helping Starlight learn how to do magic, but then Starlight kept doing it better than him. Sunburst levitates up a book, then Starlight levitates 4 blocks and twirls them around with ease. Sunburst cleans up a single spill, but then Starlight cleans the whole kitchen herself once shown. Sunburst had more knowledge, but Starlight had more power. When he saved Starlight from the book tower, and got his cutie mark, you could say that was like Twilight's burst of power at the Sonic Rainboom event, he saw his friend in danger and in the "Adrenaline rush" his power surged to save her, but that's not his usual level of power.

spoiler Starlight and Future Episodes?
BastementSparkle replied to Glike's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Well, this seasons theme is "Exploring Equestria", so I imagine that's what they'll be doing, possibly continuing with the use of the map, having it call the mane six off to various places. But, I do think Starlight's friendship lessons will also probably play a big role, being that one of the lessons was making friends with a Griffon, I imagine Starlight might be accompanying them on some these trips, perhaps making her own new group of friends out of them? She's already got Sunburst back, and she seems to be pretty good pals with Spike already too. -
spoiler How did Sunburst get into Celestia's school?
BastementSparkle replied to ggg-2's topic in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Remember, Twilight was totally flunking her test entirely until the Sonic Rainboom happened, and she had the huge burst of magic. Sunburst doesn't seem to be that powerful, but I imagine he was actually able to do the magic for the exam, not as nervous as Twilight was. I highly doubt the students usually manage to hatch the dragon egg either, if that's normal, otherwise, why aren't more unicorns running around with dragon assistants? He likely was just good enough to pass. He also probably got through the written exam with flying colors, if there was one. -
You don't have to do anything. If you want to stay in the fandom you're welcome to do that, if you want to leave you're welcome to do that too. If what you want is a more continuous arc, then you can still watch other shows, and just come back to MLP for the things you do enjoy about it, there's no need to leave the fandom. It's not like you're only required to watch this show and nothing else.

Friendship is Magic has been a Slice of life show since season 1, there's adventure episodes sure, but most of the meat comes from the slice of life, that's likely not going to change anytime soon. There might be arcs that run through episodes, the Gala from season 1, the Equestria games from season3/4, and the keys in 4, but they're mostly in the background and not the main focus. Even if this season did introduce a new arc, it would still mostly be slice of life. If that's not what you're in the mood for, that's fine. There are plenty of shows doing the continuous arc thing you can also enjoy, and you can come back to MLP whenever you want.
