  1. I don't necessarily mind that the trio didn't get reformed, but I do wish we saw the heroes try at some point. I mean, Starlight did try with Chrysalis at one point so there was that, but Cozy just got tossed in Tartarus with barely any attempt even though it would have been pretty easy to try with her considering she's just a filly, and Tirek got nothing at all. People say they were unrepentant and that's true...but so was Discord. He only showed anything resembling goodness after an entire episode's worth of a Fluttershy reformation program. Heck, I'd actually argue Frenemies shows they all have the potential to be good, because they all had a brief moment of clarity before Chrysalis snapped them out of it, what would have happened if they had a similar realization around others who actually wanted to help them instead of other villains who'd reinforce their negative side?
  2. The villain trio were definitely more interesting as characters than Grogar, but the potential of what Grogar was going to do got me excited, and I thought they were going to do something really interesting with the trio too because they did build them up, but them being the finale villains themselves was actually less interesting than anything else I thought they might do. It actually ended up my least favorite two-parter. Though, what the writer's did to Discord throughout the thing also plays a big part in that.
  3. I do think at least part of the twist's quality is dependent on how hyped one was for Grogar. To me, I remember years of seeing interpretations of him in fandom, making up headcanon's for him just cause he seemed cool, and then actually seeing him in the show? The premiere successfully hyped me up for the character, I really wanted to see what he was going to do. Doesn't help that with the trio getting so much development, I was sort of suspicious they might go down the route of a team up between the heroes and the unreformed villains, which is one of my favorite tropes in general, I love seeing it, so I was excited for that possibility too. Then the villain I'm so excited to see get's yanked away in the finale and all the posibilities I was excited for went with him! I do think the trio are fun characters, and they're good final villains. If the show hadn't brought Grogar in I'd have no issue with them. But as it is I feel like I got something really cool dangled in front of me and then yanked away.
  4. That too, there's no reason he couldn't have just snapped up a fake bell or artifact and a fake challenge. Not to mention Discord can sense magical imbalances, so he should have noticed when Tirek was draining ponies at the Summer Sun Celebration. Really, the way the situation plays out just doesn't make any sense, and I get that's Discord's thing, but still.
  5. I don't know, and honestly I think it was a terrible idea. People have been wanting to see Grogar for years, whether because they're G1 fans with nostalgia for him, or because they've heard about him and just think he sounds cool. There's been fics and art of him for years. The show even made him sound super cool, I mean "The Father of Monsters"? "First Emperor of Equestria?" He created monsters, potentially many of the ones we've seen in the show itself? The first episode makes him seem super awesome. I was genuinely excited to see what he could do, how our heroes were going to beat him and then...he's just Discord in disguise. A plot twist like this only works if what you get is cooler than what you expected you'd get, and that's not how this went down. It just made Discord stupid, and as much as I love the trio I don't think they're all that exciting as the final villains in comparison to what Grogar could have been. So, I lose out on a villain I was excited for and one of my favorite characters get's made to look like a completely braindead moron. Discord's plan is fairly in-character in theory, due to his weird sense of morals and logic, but that doesn't mean it's good writing. For one, Discord getting betrayed like he did requires him to be much stupider than he has ever been elsewhere in the series. Why didn't he watch them go for the bell, or spy on them at anytime? He easily could, he knew who the Mane Six were and all of their elements right out of his statue, was aware Twilight was planning to use a reformation spell on him, knew about her insecurities as a Princess in Season 4, immediately showed up when Spike mentioned O&O in Season 8, etc. He's shown a consistent ability to spy on things while not being detected, can create clones of himself, heck even has a crystal ball in this very season. It would be easy to watch them, and he has every reason to, the show implies he spies on his own friends all the time, why not the villains he's manipulating? He's not some supreme chessmaster, but he shouldn't be this dumb. Discord only doesn't know about the betrayal because the plot demands he doesn't, it's a massive plothole and completely unbelievable. Then he suffers no real consequences for it. He's even the person who get's to suggest and help carry out the Trio's punishment, which is actually disgusting. He already tried to use them, manipulate them and force them into his schemes before, and he's the reason they were able to do any of this. Whether they deserve their fate or not, he has absolutely no right to be the one handing it down. That scene just made me even angrier at him.
  6. Remember that scene from the Season 7 finale where Applejack catches and then sends a massive boulder flying with her backhooves? RD's strong too, but I don't think she could pull something like that off. Definitely putting my money on Applejack.
  7. It's hard to hate the "Villain" villains, the big baddies who want to conquer the world. They're just too much fun to really hate, everybody loves a good villain. No, the truly despicable villains are always the down to earth ones, the kind of jerk you could meet in real life. They aren't trying to conquer the world, or gain supreme power, nothing cool like that, they're just unpleasant and slimy. So, my vote would go to Sludge for being just a completely disgusting person in general. He lies to Spike, lies to a kid who's never even met his biological parents that he's his father, all so he can keep hanging out and getting pampered in a castle. It's just completely morally revolting and makes him the most unlikable antagonist the show's ever had in my opinion.
  8. Part of me thinks they would have made better assist trophies, or maybe as a hazard/enemy on the Minecraft stage. Teleporting around, placing blocks, going into a rage when one of the characters looks at them. Getting to play as one is cool too though, even if it looks odd.
  9. Honestly, I think this character looks pretty great. Yeah "Steve" isn't very much of a character but neither is the Villager from Animal Crossing, they're both just player avatars. Mr. Game and Watch was even less of a character until Smash made him one. Minecraft is the best selling video game of all time so this isn't much of a shock, it's extremely beloved and it looks like they made a pretty unique fighter out of him. Kinda love how he literally just looks like he was ripped straight out of Minecraft too, that and how he keeps eating steak like some sort of power move, especially during his final Smash. I get people being disappointed because this isn't the character they wanted, but it's weird seeing people act like this is some personal offense. No Herobrine, but he does have Alex as a skin, plus a Minecraft Zombie and a really short Enderman. Edit: Looks like you figured that out yourself, before I said it. The short Enderman looks so weird to me, used to them being tall.
  10. I kind of want to see more Pony Life fanfiction now. Only seen a few so far, and while the show isn't anything amazing, I just really want to see what fun stuff the fandom could make with it.

  11. There's no real way to know for sure, as such a situation isn't ever brought up in the show. It is worth mentioning the Storm King's statue was shattered in the movie, but he was still shown as alive in the credits. Whether that's real in-universe or just a little joke for the credits is up to you, I suppose. As far as headcanon goes, I'd say it'd do neither. He wouldn't die, but he wouldn't be set free either. He'd just be forced to live in the broken pieces of the statue. Discord pulls his own body apart for a joke all the time, and the way I see it is that as long as he has his magic he's completely invulnerable to any normal means of harm. He technically still has his magic while in the statue, he just can't break free or do anything with it. The only reliable way to really kill Discord is to completely remove his magic before doing so.
  12. So, due to some weird internet thing I couldn't access any pony sites for a bit. No forums, no EQD, no Fimfiction, no Derpibooru. A ponyless internet. How horrifying.

  13. Okay, bad news is the laptop I spilled on still isn't working, so that sucks. Good news is I got an older laptop updated and working. It's slower and not as good, but it's far more preferable than no laptop.

I'm not super knowledgeable about this stuff, but I definitely hear something working inside. Dunno how to do what you suggested but I can look into it.

I did try the external screen thing, no luck there sadly. I was planning on giving it a few days rest and trying it again, see if that works. If nothing else I guess I'll just have to take it to some repair place and hope for the best.

  14. Spilled a little water on my laptop. Cleaned it up as best as I could and it seemed perfectly fine, but a few hours later the screen suddenly went blank and it won't work anymore. Can't get a screen at all, don't know what to do. Can't get a new one if this one is broken, really anxious.

      That's rough, friend. I'm sorry.

There's always hope that nothing fried and the water is just causing complications that could end when it evaporates.

      Hoping for the best.

  15. My headcanon's about Discord change constantly, because I think his potential origins are very interesting and there's a lot of cool ways you could take it. Personally though, most of my headcanon's tend to be rather eldritch and otherworldly. Usually I tend to go with the idea that he has always been the Spirit of Chaos and Disharmony, that those are an inherent part of his very being. He wasn't born like other beings and very well might not even be from the same universe or dimension as Equestria. He potentially started out more akin to something like a living natural disaster, simply a mindless mess of magic that caused chaos wherever it went but over a very long period of time it began to develop a consciousness and a personality of it's own that went a bit beyond just causing chaos. He eventually gave himself a physical form like we see in the show, both so he could experience more physical pleasures such as eating and drinking, and so he could have a body to protect the core magic that makes up his very being, without said body if someone like Tirek tried to suck all his magic up he'd potentially die. He's not really a Draconequus, he simply takes that shape because he likes it. Sometimes I like to think there was a real tribe of Draconequus who worshipped chaos who summoned him to Equestria and he took a similar form to them for that reason. The Draconequus weren't particularly happy with what they summoned though, because they intended for the type of chaos that comes with things like destruction and war, when Discord more represents the whimsical side of chaos. He can be cruel and malicious at times, yes, but he's always considered himself more so a prankster and an artist than a destroyer. His ideal world is a surrealist landscape full of jokes and general strangeness, not a world of death and suffering. Discord's reformation is so rocky and he doesn't seem to be quite as remorseful as many of the other reformed villains because his mind simply doesn't work the same way other more "Normal" creatures do. He finds Chaos and Disharmony to be an almost inherently good thing in his value system and he finds it hard to regret doing it because it's such an essential part of him, without it he wouldn't even be able to continue living after all. He does value his friends and he is capable of empathy and genuine remorse for some things, he felt genuinely awful for betraying his friends to Tirek for example, but some part of him will always enjoy causing problems because that's both who and what he is, literally.
  16. If Discord were ever to show up I think it'd be funny if he was an interdimensional traveler who's implied to be from the FIM/G4 universe, and he constantly complains about how much better things are in his home reality, like some fans would.
  17. Of course I lick my cats clean, and I can't believe what I'm seeing in this thread. Your cats are all perfectly happy to wash you with their tongues and yet you can't even return the favor? It's an important part of your cat's culture and you can't even honor it? What, you think your cat is gross or something? Cause you're probably dirtier than them I bet. Don't take this seriously, I don't actually lick my pets.
  18. Gonna have to go with Sonic here. I grew up with the 2D Sonic games before I ever really touched much 2D Mario and Sonic's always just been far interesting to me. Sonic's higher speed, the momentum based gameplay, the much more natural level design all just makes it more fun to play than Mario. Not to mention Sonic wins hands down for me in terms of other things, like character design, aesthetics and music. Things like Sonic CD (Which you forgot by the way) and it's awesome anime cutscenes or 3&K with it's surprisingly interesting little story told entirely through silent cutscenes and some environmental design just push it up to being one of my favorite games ever. Heck, even when it comes to Nintendo platformers, Mario's pretty far from my favorite. I'm a much bigger fan of the Donkey Kong Country games, which I also grew up playing on my dad's old SNES, since he didn't have any Mario but he had that whole trilogy. After Sonic and DK, Mario's always just felt a little bland to me. There's no denying the impact Mario had on the gaming industry though, Sonic and DKC wouldn't exist without it, so I'll give the series huge props for that.
  19. My mom is currently on hold for a call. Except the call is already disconnected which I saw when she gave it to me to hold for a minute. I keep trying to tell her and show her but she's not believing me and shouts when I try to prove it. So I tried, I guess. Wonder how long it'll take her to notice I was right.

  20. I'm not super hyped for this, as it looks like it's following the trend of some other recent cartoon reboots of turning a loved show into an goofy, over the top comedy and nothing much else, but I'll give it a shot. It's all in the writing, if the show manages to be funny and charming then I'll enjoy it, even if it's not my ideal MLP.
  21. A tornado apparently just came right down our street and took down a few trees and other stuff. I must be oblivious though because I didn't see, hear or feel a single thing up here in my room, only know that happened because the neighbor came over freaking out.

Thanks, I think everyone here is alright. My dad's room and the living room where my mom was at are both right next to the street it happened on so it's even more surprising they didn't notice anything either. I'd say it wasn't serious but it did still take down a few trees and some mailboxes.

  22. That's kind of a different situation though. Like, if you went back in time and changed the timeline thus causing me and my best friend to not meet, or meet in a different way and not become friends, does that disprove our friendship? Like, Twilight and her friends as the Elements of Harmony have a unique impact on the world, yes, but you could theoretically erase any friendship with time travel, that doesn't invalidate it.
  23. One thing to think about is that the Mane Six's friendship was essentially formed in a dangerous situation. Their Princess gone, a villain threatening their kingdom with Eternal night, the six of them heading off on a journey into a dangerous forest together to protect their home, family and friends. Having to put their trust in each other, even when it comes to their own life possibly. People always mention the "Destiny" part of the elements but they never really think about that. That's the kind of thing that easily can make quick friends out of very different people, and keep in mind they had to keep doing it repeatedly over the course of the show. It's probably not the kind of thing you think about too often since it's a kids show and you know everything is going to be okay in the end, and it's rather tame compared to our reality or even most other shows out there, but the Mane Six are putting their lives in potential danger all the time and having to rely on each other, and considering they're a small team that's going to build up bonds for sure, no matter how different they might be otherwise. When you're regularly risking your life together that's just going to happen. The Mane Six's friendship is definitely idealized to an extent, but I don't think it's completely unrealistic, especially when taking what I said above into account. Plus, I think it's a good thing for a show like this to have a variety of personalities and to show that friends can exist even despite major differences. The entirety of Rarity Investigates is just Rainbow and Rarity. Not to mention the End in Friend, though that's not the best example since they spend most of it arguing. They actually do have some substantial things in common when you think about it, despite their totally opposite personalities. Of the two Mane Six they've easily been the most ambitious since day one, Rarity's always dreamed of opening more boutiques and expanding her business and Rainbow's always wanted to be a Wonderbolt. That, and of the two Mane Six they're the ones who care the most about their appearance and reputation, in totally different ways, since Rarity tries to appear fashionable and high-class while Rainbow wants to be seen as "Awesome", but it's the same desire at the end of the day. I could see them relating to each other on these once they get past their differences.
