  1. What's up with people thinking the second the show ends the entire fandom is suddenly going to dissipate into nothing and die super fast or whatever? People don't stop being fans of something once it's over, and just because a fandom get's a bit smaller that doesn't mean it's "Dead". There are still fandoms and people producing fanart and content for shows and games that have been over for years, decades even in some cases. Just because something isn't the most hot and popular thing on the block anymore doesn't mean it's dead.

Plus, nothing says the fandom won’t be stronger than ever with the arrival of G5

I've been a fan on Guitar Hero/Rock Band since the beginning on PS2 and the community is small. But people still release hundreds of new songs on Rock Band 3 on Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii.

  2. I feel like if the comics were ending along with Season 9 we'd have a bit of forewarning about it by now, considering the ending of Season 9 is only a few months away, and they still seem to be going strong and even doing some new mini-series as well. It's entirely possible Hasbro might plan on letting the comics continue for now. Especially since there is no G5 next year, so having at least something to bridge the gap might be good. Heck, who knows, maybe the G4 comics will continue on even into G5, at least for a bit?
  3. This is kind of how I feel too honestly. While I do enjoy Equestria Girls and think it's a fairly fun series in general, it never really goes much beyond just "Fun" for me, I don't feel like I ever really grew to care about it quite as much as I did FIM. I think if they had gone for an actual series with full length 22 minute or even just 11 minute episodes that actually let the cast develop with more substantial stories, I'd have cared more. Especially if they did more to differentiate the human versions from the pony versions, because other than Sci-Twi they're just the FIM cast but less. Still, the shorts were fun and it made a nice side series to FIM. So, I don't think it ever reached it's potential but it wasn't really a waste either. I'm glad we got it, sad to see it go.
  4. It was of Moondancer's own free will to turn into a hermit, yes. But you're still looking at this event through an objective lens, not an emotional one. This was apparently the first time Moondancer had ever put herself out there and done something like throw a party, and Twilight, the pony she seems to have considered herself closest to, didn't show up. Moondancer's best friend didn't show up to her first ever party, and left Canterlot for years without even a single goodbye. That's all Moondancer sees. Moondancer was seemingly a social recluse who didn't think she "Had any value" until her other three friends started to convince her she did, she didn't even think anypony would want to be her friend. The kind of person who sees themselves as not having value in the first place is going to be easy to hurt, they're likely going to look at every interaction and event and see the worst parts more than the good. The only ponies in the episode who treat Twilight's decision as the "Wrong" one are Moondancer who is biased and has her view clouded by her own emotions, and Twilight herself who is feeling guilty for hurting somepony and being harsh on herself. Nopony else ever tries to say she did the wrong thing, just those two. As @CypherHoof says, Twilight is judging herself and her past actions by her current standards and views which are very different. I don't think the episode is written manipulatively because it never tries to hide the fact that previous Twi wasn't a very sociable pony, it spends the entire episode trying to show us just how different the current Twilight is from her pre-season 1 self.
  5. Here's the thing...Moondancer blames Twilight and you're correct that's not fair, and that her reaction to Twilight not showing is over the top and not exactly logical...But the thing is, our minds don't exactly run on pure logic, there's a lot of emotion involved. Why does Moondancer have to be justified for us to empathize with her, instead of just recognizing she's hurting really bad because she feels like a friend abandoned her? Maybe that's not exactly what "Really" happened but our views of reality are always colored by our subjective experiences. Moondancer seems like a pretty insecure pony in general, to somepony else more healthy this event might not have been a big deal but to Moondancer it was soul crushing. Twilight didn't necessarily do anything wrong here, considering the Nightmare Moon threat I'd even argue she did the right thing...but every action, right or wrong or neutral has consequences on the people around us. As for Twilight not remembering her names, you're right they weren't really her "Friends" in the past, maybe acquaintances or whatever. The thing is, the Twilight of today now sees the value of friendship and thus retroactively considers those ponies her friends. The entire point is to show how she didn't value friendship much back then but does so now, and thus her view of them is changed.
  6. Right back at ya @Deae Rising Shine~! Coffee or tea?
  7. @Deae Rising Shine~, you too Bestie! Also, I already had my birthday. Favorite ice cream flavor?
  8. It's hard to say really, as a fully adventure based FIM would basically have been a totally different show, and since that version doesn't exist I can't say how good it would have been. I wouldn't trade our version of the show for anything however, the slice of life episodes and the focus on characters is a large reason I enjoy this show so much, the adventure episodes are fun too, but I feel like I care about them more when they happen because of all the slice of life stuff that let's me see what normal life in Equestria is like and really get to know these characters in their daily lives. Both the show and the fandom would probably look very, very different if this was a more adventure-focused show.
  9. So, if I could describe this special in any way, I'd say it was...Comfortable. Calm. Cozy (No, not the psycho filly.). It was a relaxing little adventure with no particularly high stakes and no real rush. The characters all felt like themselves, the new characters were all pretty cute and likable, and the movie's style worked pretty well for a TV special. Wasn't quite as exciting as I was hoping but was enjoyable nonetheless. Only real gripe I have was that the recolored background ponies feel way more noticeable with the movie's animation and it kind of took me out of the experience a bit, but that's not too big of a deal.
  10. I'm glad she wasn't. Season 5 already has a fairly similar villain to that idea in Starlight Glimmer, repeating with a similar-ish villain in the same season would be weird. Not to mention it would ruin "Amending Fences" which is one of the best episodes of the show and Moondancer is a large part of that reason. Taking her and just turning her into another villain wouldn't be half as good as what we got, not every character who has a reason to dislike our heroes or has something traumatic happen to them needs to be a villain.
  11. Is it anymore Cringy than Cadance being the "Princess of Love"? This is a silly complaint, honestly. In MLP Friendship is literally a force of power that can defeat even the strongest of villains. Saying you don't think she should rule Equestria is one thing, saying she's not a real Princess is kind of unfair.
  12. It always annoys me when people claim Celestia and Luna "Don't do anything". We've seen what they do, Luna patrols the dream realm every night and protects ponies dreams, she raises the moon, she even goes out of her way to put lavender all over the castle to help ponies sleep better, I imagine she does a lot more than that as well to help ponies sleep peacefully and have pleasant dreams. Celestia goes to meetings, signs decrees, goes to and hosts public events constantly, probably does a lot of paperwork and legal stuff they won't ever show on the show itself because it's boring and who wants to see it, not to mention raising the sun obviously. The claim that "They don't do anything" always focuses on the events of two parters where...yeah, they're often kind of useless, or get kidnapped or something, and it's a little silly how often that happens but there's way more to being a ruler than just fighting off the big bad guys, the majority of this show even isn't actually about the villains either, most of it is a silly slice of life show, there's things in life that are important other than just fighting evil. Anyway, I think with her friends by her side she'll probably be able to rule Equestria fine, the Mane Six have proven time and again they can do pretty much whatever they set their mind to, and the idea that she doesn't listen to them at all is kind of wrong, how many scenes have we seen of them sitting around in those thrones discussing things with each other? Yes, she doesn't listen to them sometimes, especially when she's under large amounts of stress, but she's shown to be a capable leader in other instances. At worst they might need 22 minutes to solve a problem.
  13. There isn't set to be any G5 next year, right? Maybe they're saving it for then, to bridge the gap a little.
  14. Hopefully not, I'll take every last drop of G4 pony goodness we can get before this thing ends.
