Duke Nukem Forever isn't a bad game. It's not a perfect game by any means, and it does have a fair amount of flaws, primarily in it feeling unfinished, but I'd actually argue that, as a part of this series, it holds up quite well. The action is solid, the comedy is honestly really funny in a wacky, often childish way, and it's something you shouldn't take too seriously in order to have fun with. It IS a Duke Nukem game, after all. Yes, some of the jokes are dated and the gameplay and assets would certainly benefit from more work, and the way the game ends is pretty crappy, but you have to give the designers credit for doing what they could, what with the constant company related troubles they faced. We can be thankful that it came out, and I still find enjoyment playing it to this day.

    I'd personally give it a 6.9/10.

tbh I still haven't played it or Duke Nukem 3D, but from a distance I always sort of had the impression that it's not a bad game, just not the game worth waiting >10 years for.

  2. Hey! I also used to be an Equestria Forums member but kind of drifted off of it. Went to check it out a few years later and noticed the domain had been purchased by someone else, and I'm still left wondering what happened since as far as I know it basically went out without any announcement.

Anyway, welcome to MLP Forums, and it's nice seeing another former Equestria Forums member after it went down.

  3. I mean honestly probably the second gen - largely due to the video game crash, how video games were seen and the oversaturation of different consoles and games, most of which were of poor quality. Probably the first gen too since everything was just Pong consoles, but at the same time both were important to establishing gaming as an industry with it's ups and downs.

I will say though that so far I... haven't been impressed with the ninth gen so far. I feel like we're getting to the point where video game graphics are getting about as good as they're going to get and as a result, it basically just feels like an extension of the eighth gen rather than a step up, but even beyond that neither the PS5 or Series S/X are really impressing me enough to want to go out and buy either of them (and even if I did want to I can't even do so because they're still sold out everywhere lol)

  4. I hate to say it but I sort of feel like I'm getting out of PC gaming. I still recognize that it does have pretty substantial benefits over console gaming but I have to admit that it's kind of a pain in the ass sometimes when it comes to trying to get things to work right and having to upgrade and swap out parts of your PC. Especially now that I'm working and I just want to sit down, relax, maybe lay in bed and play something (not to mention the community can be hella toxic).

  5. Best remake would easily be both Crash N Sane Trilogy and Spyro Reignited Trilogy for me. Pretty much hit all the right notes I had wanted to see in a remake of both games - improved visuals that still largely stay true to the original, added polish and tweaked physics to make it feel like a new game.

Best remaster I would probably say is the 2011 PC/360/PS3 port of Sonic CD due to the improvement in the original games’ physics and upscaling to widescreen and 60FPS. Just too bad it was delisted and you can’t acquire it legally now until Sonic Origins releases.

Worst would be Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis for GBA. The amount of slowdown, screen crunch, weird physics glitches and so on make this classic game almost unbearable to play.

  6. Been in the fandom since September 2011. I wasn't really paying attention outside of the ROBLOX forums and Youtube but I definitely remember it being everywhere for a while and most active between around that time through 2012, with there being a ton of fan content (fanfics, animations, MVs, etc) for it. 2013 I remember there being a lot of drama and infighting (due to stuff like Twilicorn and Equestria Girls, on top of episodes being taken down from Youtube and stuff), and I do sort of feel like around 2014 to 2015 the negativity from outsiders sort of hit it's peak (I just remember seeing people bitch about Bronies constantly in areas where it wasn't even brought up), and at this point most of that has just leveled out - most of the fandom now is probably the more dedicated fans, though I feel like I have seen a slight resurgence of it with G5 coming out.

  7. Yeah... I don't agree. The Switch is selling like hot cakes as it is, and the kind of audience that likes the Switch isn't looking for powerful hardware, but rather unique game experiences, and aside for the Wii U (which had other problems in terms of marketing), that has been serving Nintendo well for the past decade and a half.

  8. There's this one show I really like that's pretty niche and has a cult following, it's titled 'My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic', has anyone else ever heard of it?

(Jokes aside, it's that - definitely the show that at least had the most impact on me and obviously still enjoy. Other favorites are Steven Universe, The Owl House, Gravity Falls and Animaniacs (both)).

  9. I'm sort of neutral on Slice of Life overall. I can respect that the writers no doubt had fun with creating the episode and the references to the MLP fandom, but putting that aside it does sort of just go all over the place with it's narrative and feels pretty incoherent, especially if you don't really 'get' the fandom references. It doesn't really surprise me that, in my view at least, people's enjoyment of the episode tends to correlate with how much they enjoy MLP fanon, and for me it's definitely more of an episode I respect/appreciate than one I actually enjoy watching. As I've said in the past, The Simpsons' '22 Short Films About Springfield' did this sort of episode much better IMO, at least on the basis of just how each plot felt connected to some extent or another.

(man i rambled for much more than i intended to)

  10. I gotta say Sleepless in Ponyville. Easily some of the best character development the series has ever had, especially for a non-Mane 6 character, and the bond between Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash just works extremely well. The end result is just a really wholesome episode with great character development and interaction, plus some funny moments throughout.

if only it didn't take me almost a decade to realize that

  11. I don't know what the block does, do you? I don't know. I dunno. Hey everybody, I'm here with my good friend, Inspector Gadget. Uh, how're you doing Inspector Gadget? I'm having a lot of fun. So, you wanna do some reviews, Inspector Gadget? I'm better than you are, so I should do the review. Okay, alright, well, Inspector Gadget's gonna do the review. You can shut up now, I'm always on duty! Hmm, do you have that game, "Miney Crafta"? Penny was telling me she was playing it on her computer book. Let's play Miney Crafta! Um, well, I have Minecraft, I think that's probably what you're talking about. Let's try that. Hmm, oh yes, this is it: Miney Crafta! No no no, Inspector gadget, it's called Minecraft. Oh, Minecrap! I cannot wait to play Minecrap. Do you know what my favorite thing to do is in Minecrap? I love building bricks with Minecrap. Building bricks with Minecrap is the best thing and the most amount of fun you can have while playing an app. I understand why all the kids are playing this game these days -- it's because they like to build brown bricks with Minecrap. I also like to build brown bricks with Minecrap. It's the most fun you can possibly have. What is the point of Minecrap? Well, there really is no point. It's a sandbox game. Oh good, I love building sandcastles. No, that just means you can do anything you want like explore, build stuff, and mess around. What kind of stuff can you build? Well, anything, really. There's one guy that built a scale model of the Starship Enterprise. My deduction skills as a detective tell me he has quite possibly, never had sex. Come on, Inspector Gadget, it's about expressing your creativity! But, he is just copying a fake rocket ship blueprint designed by someone else! Seems more like monkey see, monkey do than using creative energy if you ask me. Oh, you think you can do better, huh? I have a robotic implant in my brain that lets me preform 12,000,000,000,000,000 calculations per second. I could rewrite the entire game's code, while helping Penny with her homework, and cleaning up brain's doody, all at the same time! He's a nerd, and I hate nerds more than I hate MAD agents. What an asshole! He may not have a powerful cybernetic brain like yours, but I think that the kid used Minecraft in a unique, and complex, yet beautiful way, making the adaptation of---- I told you to shut up, but you didn't listen. Oh look, a free iPad.
