      Perhaps, in contrary, we fear dolls because they are too much like us (I'm speaking for humans). Just a mask, but empty inside x3. But dolls are fun to possess. Nothing beats a creepy doll crawling at you in the middle of the night (well, maybe a couple of dozens of things do, like clowns, but dolls are still creepy)

      But you can't have the same effect if you possess some random junk. Classics are good, because of human psychology. They would be more afraid of clowns/dolls/little girls/shadows and other rather than phones/desserts/chess/watches
