    On account of us talking about it over on @SolarFlare13's place, guess I finally met a conscensus on why Galarian Weezing is a Fairy type:

     

      Do think the new Weezing has won me over the new Linoone, things look bright for me being a full Fairy Trainer!!

      Oh, and wanted to say also. Bede has been confirmed as the jerk rival you were wanting.

       GameXplain saw the Japanese release that actually had text conversations from ingame. The world that comes up most often around Bede is "Overconfident." As he was scouted, hired & promoted by the head of the Tournament Battling Comitted and, in fact, considers himself better than the Head. He considers himself a challenge for you to meet.

       On top of that, Marnie is a bit of a lone wolf who regrets the fierce support Team Yell is giving her. So we've got all three including Hau… I mean, Hop, being the supportive, cheerful guy.
