  1. I apologize for my absence..... again. Like I mentioned some time ago, I was trying to get everything done before a September 15th deadline, so I was hard pressed to get everything done before then. I finally am relieved to have finished everything, so now I finally can make a post on the RP. Really sorry if it caused any delays and/or confusion for you all!

  2. @Kay Dreamer @Rainbow Eclipse @Wolfe

    I remember Wolfe saying there was a pianist in the brew? One of the Jive Five? If Kay can't put up the courage to come up and play (or if she doesn't have/can't get an instrument) he might come up and show Scribble how it's done. That or Scribble will just have to be disappointed :c

    I hope my posts aren't too boring. I like showing how Scribble himself thinks of music.

    Not a problem! Also, sorry for my absence as of late again. I've just been trying to get a lot of things done before a September 15th deadline, so I'm really just busy getting everything together. I'll try to make a post as soon as I can, possibly tomorrow.

    Central-East Manehattan

    The Brew

    With drinks and services around The Brew running a bit slower, and the festivities kicking up a notch in just a few moments, the Brewmaster sets off from his station to head to the center stage. The MC keeps a calm pace with his trademark mug in hoof as the jazzy music slowly fades in volume to bring attention over to center stage. While nothing really changes, it seems like the stage is a bit brighter, trying to draw everypony's eyes for the upcoming performances. Java Blend positions himself in the center and knocks his rear hoof onto the paneled hardwood stage floor just to direct more attention to those who may not have gotten the cue before.

    "Good evening, mares and gentlecolts!" he starts off in a clear, open voice. "It's good to see all of you in this wonderful night. Welcome to the 5th Anniversary of The Brew's opening! Now, while I do see a good number of regular ol' folks here tonight, there's a few of you who found out about this place, one way or another. As such, I should introduce myself to you all. My name's Java Blend: Owner and Brewmaster here at The Brew, and for tonight, I shall be your MC for tonight." He pauses to take a drink from his blend. "Now, this establishment has gone through some tough times, thick and thin, but through it all, this place is a meaningful place. It holds much meaning for everypony here, not just for myself and my staff." He starts strutting left and right on the spacious stage, trying to give more emphasis on the message being said. "It's a place to hang out with friends after a long day. A place to enjoy the ambiance. A locale to escape the worries that one has outside that door. A settlement to listen to a good song for a while or to be engrossed in a performance here on stage... or both! A site for memories to grow and friendships to be born. Or...!" He tilts his head forward with a raised eyebrow with a questioning look on his face. It quickly turns back into a grin. "...or maybe it's just a place for a good cup of coffee." he says as he raises his own mug.

    "With that, I hope you all create some great memories tonight, and I certainly hope I was helpful in brewing some of those memories for you tonight. We've got a wonderful set of performers here tonight for you all! Many newcomers and returning ponies from around New Mane City and beyond are here to put your hooves-a-tappin' and your heart's-a-blazing for what they all have in store for you." He lays an expectant eye on Scribblegroove as he finishes his statement. "First up tonight is a young soul all the way from Canterlot. He's a big hit over there with his unique brand of jazz, and I've heard how he sounds. Amazing kid and an amazing talent in his soul. Everypony's got one drive brewing in their soul and this guy has it steaming for all to see. Without further ado, mares and gentlecolts, here is Scribblegroove! Give it up for Scribblegroove, everypony!"

    He taps a hoof onto the hardwood, starting off a clap for everypony to follow up with as he expectantly awaits Scribblegroove to motion on up to his awaiting stage performance. When Scribble approaches him, Java would simply pat him on the shoulder and let him know in a whisper to break a leg before setting off the stage to listen to the incoming symphonic sounds.

    I apologize for my absence in the last month. I unfortunately had to undergo some situation that kept me occupied from making any further posts, but I believe everything is sorted out now and I can get back to posting and moving the story forward. And I think a time skip might be due up.

    "Dear Celestia, it's beautiful."

    "Glad you like it." Java responded, "A lot of people order it during the holidays, but I make it a thing to not make brews selective to certain seasons. Everyone's got their groove in one cup or another, and they shouldn't have to wait several months to taste it again." Java took some notes that a server slid to him at that moment and nodded at the next few orders, starting up the brewing process once more.

    "I suppose I can skip one rehearsal, but Zephner won't be too happy about that."

    "If you'd like," he started, "I could try and talk to ol' Zeph about cutting you some slack. You've been cooped up in Canterlot, and you ought to see what New Mane City's got to offer. Not sure if talking to him might work, but I think anything's worth a shot." His hooves went all over grabbing bag after bag of coffee imported from lands all over Equestria. Java was so engrossed around coffee that it was pretty much his perfume, cologne, and body wash, not that he had any issue with the smell.

    "Oh, by the heavens. This is... this is... It tastes just how I remember..."

    "Glad you remember what it's like. Don't be afraid to stop by to relive the taste on your stay here," Java replied as he looked onto the grinders preparing the succulent, strong beans. "I can always make more once I get there but if it's as costly as you say, Java, I should probably spend tomorrow performing as much as I can. I don't suppose you know any good places for wandering musicians to play and sing? I was going to try that beautiful big park where I've set my caravan, but if there are other spots I should visit, I'd like to try those too." Java listened in with Kay's money issue as he started preparing mugs, cups and brewers for the upcoming orders. Light 'tings' echoed from the ceramic dish wear onto the dark wood counter aside the metallic brewers. "Central Park's a good place for performances. It's got a lot of space and a lot of ponies travel through there frequently. There's also some venues around Manehattan and The Bronc, but they might be hard to get in to to perform, depending on your luck. You may certainly perform here if you'd like. I can even check with some of my contacts to see if they can put a slot in for you at their places."

    "On the subject of my performance, how long before I am going to start?"

    "Hmmm..." Java turned over to a small clock under the counter to see it was roughly 30 minutes into the hour. "Probably got another 90 minutes or so 'till you get on stage. I'll be the MC for tonight's performances, so everyone performing will know when to get on and everyone will have a good, roaring time." He offered a wide smile and a nod over to Scribble. "Why don't you folks grab a seat somewhere and catch up on all that you guys have missed? I'm sure you'd like to trade stories and whatnot."

    @,

    While he turned back to his duties, a voice called out to him from the ambiance that resonated from around the club. "Hey, Java! I'm just going to step out back for five while its quiet, that okay? It's hot in here!" Java looked around the club seeing everyone settled in with their drinks and enjoying the scenery and music. Five minutes wasn't so bad. "That's fine, Scarlet! Just make sure you get back," he said in a calm, firm voice. He never sounded angry or aggressive to his employees, nor did he ever speak in such a way. He nodded toward Scarlet, granting her permission to get some air. Java set his eyes once more onto his equipment.

    Yeah. The tech level is in an odd place for where its at. After searching up Button Mash, since that's the only point of reference I know of him using an arcade machine, found that arcades machines were shown in Hearts and Hooves Day.Jeez my memory's off. Technology is weird since a good amount of it is in the early 1900s, but there's DJ machines and arcade machines while could be found in the 1970s/1980s.

    I also like sticking to canon as much as possible. The limitations might seem annoying at first, but it really does set the ground of what's possible and what's not possible. It also sets your imagination in motion to try and figure out what's do-able despite it never being done/seen before. It bleeds into how I like to make characters for some other RPs. Typically in human RPs, I like to make underpowered or average/regular characters. It's a way to prevent myself from having too much power from the get-go as well as allow my character to grow, both in strength, but in character and personal growth as well. It's also a way to figure out how to play with my character's strengths and weaknesses to counter the situations he or she is in.

    @

    As for the Neightendo Gamecolt, I'll ask that you change or remove it since the setting here is trying to fit MLP's standards. I don't think the ponies have gotten that far in technology yet to have hoofheld consoles. For the sake of non-complications, things shown from Button's Adventures cannot be used in this RP aside from arcade machines, since they've been shown in the show.

  7. @,

    PHEW. I first read it as redesign. Second time around, I read resign. Good thing I read it twice. But yeah, remember the situation is something you act out. It's up to you to portray how the scene would look like, at least for now. Still thinking about those bare bones description requirements.

    @@Dovashy,

    That's actually a possibility. I would say it could be so if you and the character who was rolled the mugging were in the same borough, then you can perform the mugging. That's a nice idea, Dovashy! That'd have to be a lucky roll, though.

  8. @

    I don't necessarily mean standing up, I mean moving around. If the mugger(s) is/are moving to you, then you'd have a tougher time with mobility than a unicorn archer, for example. You might be able to take a shot, but in a close distance engagement, like a back-alley, there's not much room for error, nor is there much room to be had.

  9. @@Dovashy

    Honestly, that's a possibility that they steal her blanket. Depends if you'd like the mugger to do that. However, I do understand your character's situation. Something like losing some bits wouldn't happen to your character since she doesn't have any. For now, rerolling effects is up to discretion.

    @,

    That varies, I'd think. Outside of dice rolls, I don't think people would try and hurt her because she's got archery equipment and her cutie mark shows a bow and arrow, but it doesn't mean nopony would try. Like, archery wouldn't be very effective if the mugger is up close, and since Anala is an earth pony, I would believe she would have more trouble maneuvering on her hind legs than a unicorn would with all four legs and magic to support his/her bow and arrows. So yes, it varies and I'd say either scenario could happen.

  10. @

    The negatives will happen and depending on the negative, it's possible to avoid if your character can act upon it, such as a mugging. I'm debating how much freedom I'm allowing on descriptions because anyone can say the mugger/thief is weak or poorly equipped. And no, I'm not saying you all will Mary-Sue that sort of thing. Just wondering if I should have some bare-bones requirement that must be fulfilled.

    Also, the mugging, if it were rolled for example, would happen to whomever it got rolled to.

    Same thing can happen for the positives as well. Somepony might be given a free ticket to a movie, but give it to somepony else or decline the ticket altogether.

    Since there's 8 characters, at the current moment, I'm only going to roll 3 D8s (8 sided dice) to see which 3 characters will have an effect happen to them. Of course, if any doubles/repeats come out, I'll reroll as necessary.

  11. @@Dovashy

    At the moment, this is what I've got:

    1. Getting mugged {Negative}
    2. Finding a few bits on the ground {Positive}
    3. Finding a half used MetroCard (10 bits – 5 rides) {Positive}
    4. Finding a half used weekly MetroCard (3.5 days) {Positive}
    5. Finding a half used monthly MetroCard (14 days) {Positive}
    6. Encounter with a lost filly/foal {Neutral}
    7. LUCKY CHANCE (Varies) [Roll D20 to lock in à 19 or 20 needed. Positive effect chosen from list if under 19.]
    8. Congested traffic / Delayed train or rail car / Forced detour {Negative}
    9. Free ticket to a show/performance {Positive}
    10. Misplaced bits {Negative}
    11. Interaction with a tourist {Neutral}
    12. Bad news from work {Negative}
    13. UNLUCKY CHANCE (Varies) [Roll D20 to lock in à 19 or 20 needed. Negative effect chosen from list if under 19.]

    Okie Dokes everyone! I managed to finish up adding Character Profiles and Known Locations onto the main OOC post as a way to get clarity on known information and as a one-stop place to see what's been added or what can be added onto a place and such. Go ahead and check it out! Some locations also link to the RP post that it originates from, such as The Brew leading to the first post in the RP. Though I want to make sure I have everything clear so no information is incorrect. Just gonna ask a few things right now just for clarity's sake.

    @Rascal/Timescribe: Just want to make sure on this. You live in Bucklyn, but work in Manehattan, correct?

    @Kay Dreamer, Scribblegroove, & BlueEclipse/Anala: For Business/Company/Group, I have you three listed as self-employed. Would you feel this is correct for you or would there be some change needed? I'm sure Kay's would have to involve something with the Crystal Empire, but I don't want to make names for something that belongs to your character, and I'm not sure if Scribble is a part of some musicians group or whatever back in Canterlot, but again, just want to give you guys creative freedom over your characters and the locations you place into this world. I also don't know if Anala might be with some archer group or anything, but yeah, just checking with you guys!

    @Gloomfury/Ragstitch: Does the Thrift Shop that Ragstitch work at have some name? Or would you prefer it not having a name?

    @Kay Dreamer: I know you mentioned Poney Island and a fairground named after Luna. You're referring to Coney Island and Luna Park, correct? And if so, the locations in real New York are in Brooklyn. Did you want them both in Bucklyn or Stallion Island, since Java referred to it in the previous post. Lemme know if there are any changes you'd like me to do on them

    @Everyone:

    Got a location you'd like to put more detail on? Lemme know! Message me with details of your place as they come up and I'll update the OOC accordingly! I'd like this world to be a lot more lively with places everypony will know with lore that YOU all create. Although I'm the DM, I'd like to let you guys expand on what is available here in New Mane City and, overall, in Room for Rent. Places here can create a sense of direction, a sense of comfort and familiarity, and I'd like you guys to take pride in broadening what's out there with places that have meaning. I would love to see a point where a place is set and someone would go, "Yeah. I made this place a thing. * :lol: *" It's sorta like Minecraft: You start out with nothing, but you slowly build and build until you have something that you're proud of and would gladly call a home, a farm, a mine, a Nether base, a giant structure that took you 10+ work hours to create. I would like to see the places you give lore to. I'll use The Brew as an example. It's a place containing 5 years of jazz history, a place where coffee is king, and a place where you simply relax. Pictures float around the walls of The Brew detailing some amazing ponies that have visited and/or performed at The Brew. It's become a staple to many Manehattanites' evenings. I'm sure I can expand on it from what little I have (and what little I've thought for it) so maybe it's a poor example. Nonetheless, let's see your minds work on expanding the empty canvas laid before ye!

    -------

    EDIT: Just read your post, really feel sad about Isle Cast. Like, 'I wanna give her a hug' sad. And I don't mind the time summary at all! I'll be sure to add Foal Flats onto the Known Locations. Also, remember it's "Bronc" and not "Bronx".

  13. @@Kay Dreamer,

    @,

    "Oh, that smells perfect, and you should absolutely join us in the afternoon! Fairgrounds were always more fun at eventide, even in my time. Perhaps they will have a display of those beautiful starry explosions in the sky? I've only ever seen one, and it was a sight to behold."

    "I'm pretty sure there'll be some fireworks. They shoot them off fairly often each night. Though, do be careful when you're over there. Place is filled with traps to take your money, whether it's on food, souvenirs, knickknacks, tickets, and all the sorts of stuff them fairgrounds and amusement parks sell over there. If you're not careful enough, you'll end up losing your wallet and even the clothes off your back..." Java Blend paused a bit and then continued, aiming to clarify himself. "Don't take that last bit literally, of course."

    The grinding came to a halt with the silence from the machines. The smell of the ground coffee rises into the air with each scoop from the grinder to the brewer. They pressure and heat from the flame below, mixing the two substances together over time to create the darker water. Java keeps attention to the brewers, letting the group of friends talk amongst themselves, while glancing an eye every so often to the club around him to get a gist of things within the first half-hour of the club's fifth anniversary. "Servers seem to be doing nicely..... guests are having fun... nothing out of the ordinary...he thought to himself.

    The brewers finally steamed their finality to the brewmaster. Java nodded and started work on the two mares' cups of coffee. One was simple enough. Pour and serve. "Care for some sugar, Sugar? But other than that, here's your Arabian Oasis" he stated to Kay. As for the other cup, Java took a regular sized marshmallow, cut it in half, and placed the marshmallow in the mug, pushing the center, stickier portion onto the bottom of the mug with a small red straw. He poured chocolate syrup onto the bottom of the mug, creating a very small moat for this 'marshmallow castle'. He then took care in pouring the rich, smooth brew into the deep mug. A dollop of whipped cream encapsulated the top with rainbow sprinkles to add pizzazz and mini marshmallows for the hot chocolate look and taste. "The Parasprite Winter Igloo warming up the kid in you. Don't be surprised if you taste hot cocoa the more you get into the coffee."

His ears and head moved with the smooth sounds playing in the airwaves around everypony in The Brew. His eyes were shut as he took in the warm ambience and the good feeling he got from listening to tunes of old and familiar. This gentlepony was retired, but it didn't drive the jazz out of him. His name was Key Note, pianist and one of the last 2 members remaining of the Jive Five. Key was a short trot away and in visible sight to the reporter Time Scribe. He wasn't doing much, aside from embracing the jazz and saving his energy due to his old stature.

  14. @@Wolfe,

    Are you going to wait until one of the other three post before you do?

    I might wait a bit. Depends what I'm thinking later in the afternoon. (It's 3:30 AM as I'm writing this.)

    *Keeps nodding head*

    Yeah, just waiting for something to report in and then interact with other ponies.

    If you want, you can report on some other ponies that have come in. Some may be regulars that have experience in The Brew and can offer it, others are workers who can share some good times that has happened in the last 5 years, (*points to *), and a few more could just be some musicians, comedians, writers/poets, etc., that might be hanging around before their time on stage. Note, I'll have @Scribblegroove start at 9 and from them on, other ponies will be performing on stage, so you can interview some, but I understand the stance you're in right now. I'll try to make a post with some NPC Pony for you to interact with. I kinda feel dumb that I didn't think of it before. =/

    I've noticed you've still got an empty 8th slot. If you have got room for one more, would you consider my OC...

    Isle Cast

    Some examples of roleplays that i'm in are..

    The Four

    Game of Pones

    Darkness from Within

    If what you've got in the Other Section is true, I am liking where this might turn. I honestly was hoping for more odd-ball circumstances in ponies, but makes sense that everyone wants a job and such. I really like what you've got, as well as what your prior RP experience has shown.

    Accepted!

    Really interested to see how you play her out in this RP. For some reason, I'm expecting to get a feel storm. XD. I'm not trying to pressure or anything. Just some thoughts I'm blurting out. Go ahead and do what you will!

    -------------------------------

    Room for Rent is CLOSED (6/30/13 - 4:05AM)

    -------------------------------

    Slots may be added depending on demand

    -------------------------------

    So now that this is full, I would like to talk about some other thoughts I've had about the RP. Nothing that will make an immediate change, but something that I've had a curiosity about that hopefully would keep the Slice of Life going strong, instead of getting stale after a while.

    I was thinking that after some time, I'd do a video recap (in the best Brooklyn accent I can muster) and recall the bigger moments within Room for Rent for each character. A way to get current players happy for what they've done and newer characters situated on what had happened in the last X pages.

    What I'd also like to do at the end of those videos is have a dice roll that would create a random happening. It can be good, bad, for one, for all, it might even be a roll where nothing happens. It would be something like rolling a D8 to see who it happens to, and then a D10, D20, D100 (however many occurrences I can think of) to see what happens, something like Kay Dreamer gets confronted by a mugger(s). I'd modify it as needed to fit wherever and whenever. So it might end up that Kay gets mugged while crossing Central Park on her way back to her hotel. I'd leave the details open, so that Kay would be able to RP her post with however she feels it to be. She could defeat the mugger(s), she could give him/her/them whatever bits she has on her, she could try to flee, etc.

    So what do you think? Video recaps and dice roll happenings? I'd like to know how you feel about it and any sort of ideas you all may have for the RP, not just for this idea that I have here.

That was it! You should absolutely come too, if you have time! I guess owning a place like this must keep you fairly busy. I'd love to try some, Java. Do you have anything from that region of the world?"

    "Aside from maintaining stock and running the place, it can be fairly busy, yes," Java nodded at Kay. "However, I can consider joining you folks out on a day of fun. Just know that if I come along, I'd probably be joining you in the afternoon. Gotta keep my sleep cycle in check, since this place opens at 8 and closes at 4 in the morning. And as for your coffee..." He turned around to observe his stock laid out in front of him and everypony. Java pulled out 3 bagged variants of Saddle Arabian coffee and set them on the bar top. While he eyed them to decide which one would be more akin to the classic that Kay had tasted, Kay could observe each bag and sniff the varieties, if she so chose to. After picking up the 'oldest', Java laid a number of the Saddle Arabian beans into the grinder for preparation. "I'll keep it as classic to keep the nostalgia."

     "Ooh, that sounds great, thanks! I hope I'm not going overboard here, but I'd like my coffee with... hm, let's say... whipped cream? And some marshmallows, perhaps?"

    "Sweet stuff, eh? I can do that." Java replaced the Saddle Arabian bags back and pulled out another that immediately came to mind. "This assortment's good around Christmas time, works as an alternative or replacement for hot chocolate, though it doesn't scream hot chocolate either." The beans worked their way into another grinder while Java looked under the bar top for the necessary sweeteners and assorted condiments as he listened to Anala's story. He chuckled when she reached the punchline. "I guess that Riley fellow was a bit bittersweet about the whole thing?"

    The song playing ended and a bit of static filled the air as someone in the back changed the record to a new disc. A saxophone immediately claimed attention as it made its abrupt entrance into the airwaves and starting a smoother song for the audience to enjoy. (Music: Greg Chambers ft. Paul Brown - In The Pocket)

    "That looks amazing Java. It's amazing to see you make all this. Brewing coffee can be a true passion I suppose. Never thought of that."..."Wow Java, this is... This is really good. I've never tasted anything like it! I'm definitely going to recommend you to everypony. Who wouldn't want a taste of this!"

    Java Blend brought himself above the bar top to look at Scribble's elated face. "Anything can be a passion if it drives your soul or puts a step in your hoof. Ain't nothing that nopony can't do if they love it. And I'm glad you enjoy it. I had a feeling you'd enjoy it. It's a special brew for performers, musicians, and so on. I've tinkered with it for a while, and I've gotten more positive reviews of it as I've gotten closer and closer to perfecting it. My dad thought it was a hoot, and a good number of other ponies love it as well. Don't be surprised if you don't feel tired or sore after playing a full set on stage." Java's head bobbed to the sound of the saxophone playing in the background. The ears peeled back in a relaxed fashion and he trotted in a loose fashion as he readied a few more orders that had come in.

  16. @@Scribblegroove,

    Java chuckled as Scribblegroove explained himself with an attentive ear. He eyed his hoof movements around the hot pots and the mugs and cups that awaited their cargo. Steam lifted into the air from the falling coffee, filling the station with stronger scents of blends and beans than had already been established. One mug was of a light brown color, while another was pitch black, and several more were of shades in between. He grabbed a pitcher of thick cream as the light green mare spoke.

    @@Kay Dreamer,

    "Oh, that was good. I don't think I've ever heard that one before!"

    He gave a light smile as he continued to work while Scribble conversed with his friends. He poured the thick cream over the coffee in a slow and methodical way, creating waves of white within the mug. With a small straw, he pulled it through the waves to create a leafy sort-of look and left the straw within it. "Caesar's Delight, looking for shade," he called out, aiming for one of the servers to pick up the ready cup. Another black brew was among the set of coffee, and he simply set it right next to the first mug, adding no other sort of condiment or flavoring. "Bitter Reunion, waiting for his ex," Java exclaimed out. A third was of a light brown color, ready to experience some mixture of another kind. A small container was revealed, allowing ground cinnamon to fall into the bubbling brew. Another small straw was dropped into the mix as he used it to stir while he poured a good portion of sugar, blending the sweet and spicy within the strong coffee. "Devil's Advocate, seeking the other side," Java hailed as he moved the mug up to the counter.

    "I'm Kay Dreamer and this is Anala. Pleased to meet you! I would tell you how we both came to meet Scribblegroove, but it's the sort of story you need a good few bottles of wine for."

    He looked up, showing courtesy to the newer arrivals here at The Brew. "Pleasure's all mine. The name's Java Blend, owner and top brewer around these parts and son of the famous sax player and member of the Jive Five, Smooth Blend, but I don't like to brag," he modestly responded, "and I'd be happy to listen to a good tale one of these days."

    @,

    "But what makes you guys come to the big city? I never thought I'd find you here! We should consider meeting up more often, there's so much to see here." "Oh, oh! I'd love to visit a fairground! May we? Pleeeeeease? It'd be a great place to play some music, and I'd love to try riding in those enormous cart-things with the hilly railroad tracks and the big swirling teacups, and eat candied cotton... It all sounds marvelous." "Yeah! We should totally do that! Perhaps I can teach you guys to shoot! Being an Earth Pony, I had to practice a fair bit before I could stay upright on two legs. It's called 'cotton candy', by the way. Yo, barkeep! A pint of ale over here?"

    As they spoke to each other, Java turned again to look at the remaining cups, sprinkling some sugar here, cream there, salt here, another flavoring there, and called out their names aloud when they were prepped and ready to be served. He kept an ear up while looking at Scribble's pot, which tooted with steam that escaped from the lips. "Well," Java stated as he poured the mixed brew into the mug, "Stallion Island is your best bet if you'd want to find a good park to have fun at. Just take a south-bound train over to Stallion Island." He stopped when Anala requested for a pint. "Well... we don't really offer any sort of ale here. Coffee, food, and other drinks sure, but not ale, wine, or other alcoholic beverages. Typically, we get the drunks coming in here asking for a cup of coffee to somewhat pull them out of their buzz. I guess you could say we're not on bar with other places." Java offered another light chuckle to his silly and horrible pun.

    "However, since you two are friends of Scribbs over here, I can offer a cup on the house for you two mares. And if so, any preferences of flavor?"

    Turning back down to the mug filled with Scribble's coffee, Java pulled out another pitcher with regular cream, pouring a very small portion into the mix. A pinch of sugar was added as he mixed the brew together. He put away both pitchers of think and regular cream and pulled out a 3rd pitcher from below containing warm sweet tea. Java layered a very small dab of the drink into the coffee and blended it all together with a small straw. The brew was black, then creamy brown, and now a lighter brown, now that everything had mixed together.

    "Passion of the Player, awaiting it's next tune," and with that, Java settled the drink in front of Scribblegroove, letting the new smell pierce his nostrils, anticipating his mouth to engulf the mixture of strong and sweet in bliss. The brewmaster had always been questioned of his ingredients time and time again, but questions were typically answered from 'mmm's' and 'wows' from the interrogators, unless the blend wasn't to their tongue's preference.

  17. @@Scribblegroove,

    “I don’t drink coffee very often, so I don’t know what I’d like. It would be a shame to just order something bland when one of the best brewers offers you a drink on the house, so… Surprise me! I'll have anything you think I'd like.”

    A smirk forms on Java's muzzle after hearing those words. "Then I'll come up with something that's smooth, sweet, and salivating to the soft tongue behind those lips. I got a brew to keep your throat warm and your body energized; something that'll make you jump in delight." He turned around to eye the wall of assorted coffee beans, deciding to pick out not one, but 3 bags at once. With a bit of a scoop, he took out a lesser amount from each bag and actually put all three varieties into the blender. A crunching, whirring sound escapes the blender while Java's back hoof taps to the beat of the tune, something so familiar, so second-nature to him.

    @@Kay Dreamer,

    @,

    "Is that who I think it is? It couldn't possibly- it IS! Scribblegroove? I can hardly believe this, first Anala, now you! Is it normal for Manehattan to conspire that old friends all meet each other within days of arriving?"

    When Kay nudged Anala, she saw why. There was a familiar brown unicorn stallion at the bar.

    Getting rather excited at the second familiar face, Anala galloped alongside Kay, eager to greet Scribblegroove. But she wasn't quite as cautious as Kay, and ended up ramming into the wood.

    Noticing that one of her arrows had made a visible hole in the wood, Anala sidestepped over to it to try and block it.

    "Hey, Scribbles. How have you been?"

    A pale green pony came running toward the coffee bar, right next to Scribblegroove. A bit of a shine on her coat and mane led Java to believe that she was a Crystal Pony. "Scribbs, I never knew you had a gem of a friend, such as her." He gave a light 'hmph' as a sort of laugh for his silly pun and turned toward the new pony. "And friends meeting up is something that regularly happens here in Manehattan. While the city is big, you're never too far from a close heart. You just need to be on the right street is all..."

    Another white coated pony came rushing in with bow and arrows strapped onto her back. Java heard some light thud hitting the wood, though his facial appearance never changed toward her, nor did his tone alter. After listening to Jazz and Smooth Jazz for a while, he acquired a tune for the small things in compositions, something as soft as a light bell, to something possibly deliberate as a cowbell or breathed flute sound, and the arrow (unbeknownst to Java) was no exception to his keen hearing. "And another Scribbs? You sure you're not more popular than you think you are?"

    He stopped the blender, opening the casing to reveal different shades of brown and black mixed in its powdery form. Scooping up the contents, he laid it out in another brewer, filling it up with water, and turned up the heat to pressure a steamy black brew. He kept an ear onto the 3 in front of him while he attended to some of the other coffee pots and brewers that were completed in their heated concoctions, ready to make them more complex, appealing, and delightful.
