  1. It was really good. I had hoped that it might do something that would push it from an extended episode to something that would click with a larger audience. Still, I loved it. All of the characters seemed to have their part to play, with maybe Applejack being shortchanged on screen time. Seeing the ponies on the big screen was awesome, and I liked all the little cameos thrown in. The animation was absolutely gorgeous. The songs were really good, but the one by Tempest really stood out to me. Rarity melting down and declaring "the bad guys have won!" was adorable, as was Fluttershy asking one of the big baddies "You look tense. Do you want to talk about it?". All in all, it was great for someone who is a fan of the show, but not sure what people who don't follow the show will make of it. It was interesting seeing Twilight falter under pressure, but I had hoped for a deeper storyline regarding friendship. Still, it was an epic first outing for this version of MLP, and I hope another movie is in the works.
  2. We went to a special viewing where they had movie posters, a Twilight Sparkle toy, activity book, and a table set up for coloring. There were lots of kids, as expected, but me and my wife were the only ones sporting pony shirts. It was a packed theater and we managed to get the last 4 seats in the top row.
  3. Open up your eyes was my favorite song in the movie. It had the feeling of a disney villian song.
  4. Oh good. Another place to post reviews. Here's mine; It was pretty much what I expected; a longer version of one of the TV episodes, which is fine with me since that's really all it's meant to be. The songs were all very good, but the one done by Tempest really stood out to me. The new animation used in the film was absolutely beautiful. A true step up from the flash animation. All of the characters had their moments, from Pinkie Pie's party canon to Fluttershy telling one of the big baddies "You seem tense. Do you want to talk about it?" Rarity is absolutely adorable with her meltdown proclaiming "The bad guys have won!" Rainbow Dash's sonic rainboom looks awesome with the new animation. The storm king seemed more like an afterthought than a real villain with Tempest playing the biggest role on the bad guys side. Extremely well done animation and voice acting. Fans of the show will love it, but it will not get many new fans. I would say a rock solid movie effort well worth another one in the future.

  6. Update on this...Smurf just uploaded a video and it's all of season 3 back to back. Time to relive season 3
  7. I never give spoilers. I just hope no schmuck has spoiled the big change at the end of season 3.
  8. I recently found this youtube channel where this guy does blind reactions to various tv cartoons and disney movies. Just recently, he started watching MLP FiM and watching his gradual conversion to bronydom is awesome. currently, he is just starting season 3, but his goal is to get all caught up by the time the movie is released. His channel name is SmurfVLOGS. Check out some of his MLP reaction videos and tell me it isn't entertaining watching someone else discover MLP for the first time SmurfVLOGS
  9. Has anyone else noticed that the seaponies in this trailer look like the baddies from Rainbow Rocks? I wonder if there will be some expanding on that in the movie.
  10. If it was going to be CG, the release date would be at least 2019, so I'm pretty sure it's not cg. That being said, I think they could find a creative way to at least weave a little cg into a storyline for an episode. That would be cool. I know, I know...Simpsons did it! Simpsons did it!
  11. I just noticed we're all blank flanks now. Hahaha! Good call, MLP Forums!
  12. This episode had all of the elements of the series that I like. There was redemption for Diamond Tiara and growth in her character. The cutie mark crusaders moved a step along in their story, there were plenty of laughs, and some good songs. Best episode of the season so far, imo
  13. Ben Carson. Because he makes liberals go cross eyed, but more because he seems to actually give a shit about this country. Also, we need a "do over" on the first black president. We need to show that we support someone of character, regardless of color. I'm sick of people (blacks, I'm looking at you) playing the race card and being victims. Carson is someone who shines a light on all that bullshit.
  14. Creepy possessed doll for halloween. I'm using an arduino to blink the eyes and move the head. If I can make some kids cry, it will be a good night
  15. It's confirmed that Tabitha St Germain will be at the Ponyville Ciderfest this year.
  16. The 1950's version of The Blob had me scared to look under my bed. My dad took me and my brother to see Piranha when I was a kid and that scared the hell out of me. I remember my mom calling my dad on the phone one night and yelling at him about it. Still an enjoyable B 70's movie by the way. For me, the ones that always gave me nightmares and still do to this day are zombie movies. I can't get enough of them. Something about the dynamic of how people show their true colors when faced with a severe crisis. Still, nightmares or not, it's my favorite genre. Can't wait for The Walking Dead to start up again for the next (nightmare) season.
  17. Somewhere in Time was just horrible. It starred Christopher Reeves before his horse mishap and the wheelchair. Worst possible idea for time travel of all time. The guy time travels back to the 1800's by just sitting in a chair and thinking about it. What follows is some lame romantic trist with some 1800's lady followed by the poor schmuck being pulled back to the present by forces unknown, so he sits down and tries to time travel again, but for some reason can't pull it off again, so he's left broken hearted and alone missing his 1800's gal. Supremely lame
  18. Current guest list for Ciderfest 2015; Ashleigh Ball - Rainbow Dash/Applejack/Lyra Heartstrings Acoustic concert featuring the Creber Band and Andrea Libman - Friday November 7th, 5:30 - 7pm Peter New - Big Mac - Peter was at the Ciderfest last year. Good to see him coming back! Rebecca Shoichet - Sunset Shimmer/Sugar Belle/Night Glider. Singing Voice of Twilight Sparkle The Shakeups in Ponyville - An original music project inspired by MLP:FiM I attended all three days of the Ciderfest last year, and it was a blast. The best part was a script reading that featured a scene from the first Star Wars with Andrea Libman playing Darth Vader as Pinkie Pie. Try to imagine that, if you can. There are sure to me more additions to the guest list as the Ciderfest gets closer and I'll post those updates here. Also, feel free to use this thread as a place to post if you will be attending. Hopefully we can get a good group from the board so we can make our presence known
  19. One quick update on the Windows 10 store. When I was trying to download apps like netflix, amazon, etc., I kept getting messages saying to try again later. This looks like it was just an issue with the servers being overloaded. Keep trying and it will eventually go through. I'm sure this problem will go away as the initial traffic dies down.
  20. That's exactly what I'm doing. My main machine still has Win7. Win10 works great on my Compaq 6910p that originally was running WinXP (I upgraded xp to Win7, then went to Win10). The only hardware upgrade I've done is upping the RAM from 2gb to 4gb
  21. Ok, so I'm updating to Windows 10 from Windows 7 SP1. The upgrade went smoothly after I finally downloaded the windows media creation tool found here; http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 The upgrade took a while and then Windows was slow after the install. If youopen up the Windows Store app (Windows logo on a bag icon in the task bar), you'll see it's still doing a bunch of stuff in the background. Ok, no problem, until I noticed a lot of the apps that it was downloading were failing. I figured it maybe needed another reboot, so I rebooted and found problem number one. When you upgrade to windows 10, the default login will be your windows live login, not the computer login you were using on windows 7. After digging through LastPass on my phone, I found my live login and got back into my machine. You will be given the option for logging in with your live id or a local account. Cool, no problem. I checked on the apps that Windows Store was having problems installing...still failing. A quick lookup of the error code pointed to a windows activation error. So I went to the settings app, Update & Security, Activation and click on the Activate button. 'Windows can't activate. Try again later. F-en great. After digging, I found a way to activate via phone. Here's the steps; Hold the windows button and push 'R' to get the run box. enter 'slui.exe 4' without the quotes and you'll be given a window with a phone number and a bunch of numbers. Calling that number gets you to an automated system where you enter all of these numbers to activate. It didn't work for me, so I was transferred to a call center (probably in india) , where the person explained to me that I would need to reinstall Windows 7 and upgrade.....bulllllllshit! I advised the lady with the indian accent, who was obviously reading from a script, that I had used the windows upgrade tool that microsoft had provided for performing the upgrade. After some silence from her, and hearing her talking to someone in the background, she told me she would transfer me to someone who could help. When I got to this new department, the useful automated announcement told me that I had at least a 20 minute hold time. Right now I'm still listening to that crappy microsoft jazztastic hold music. This must be where musicians go to die. More after I've escaped from this technological hell. ~update!~ After finally getting to someone else, they told me that the activation servers were completely overloaded and to keep trying. Seems like Microsoft underestimated how much bandwidth they would need for this...figures. Hurry up and wait.
