I did not get offended at all, and here's why: the "Equesticles" I don't think were intended to represent or directly parody bronies. There's enough differences between the pony show in that episode (the "Equestranaughts," or whatever it was) that I think they did not intend for it and its fandom to actually represent the brony fandom. So when you say "the things they made us do," I think you are misunderstanding the intentions behind this episode. They didn't intend to give a representation of our fandom. They were only using our fandom as the basis of inspiration for the Equesticle fandom. They then made fun of the fictional Equesticle fandom, but they were not making fun of ours. Here's one piece of evidence for the Equestranaughts show not being a direct parody of MLP, though I'm sure there's more: when Teddy is telling Bob about the Equesticles, he mentions that it is a good show, then adds "Well, some episodes before the reboot." This is the exact opposite of MLP. And then with the concept of the Equestranaughts being so different from MLP:FIM, I really think they're trying to make it clear that they are not trying to make a statement about the brony fandom but rather are using the idea of the brony fandom, the idea of a large group of males watching a show people think is for little girls, to base an episode off of. If you watch the episode expecting that it will give a representation of the Brony fandom then of course you'll be offended. But you just have to look at it from the point of view of it making fun of a fictional fandom, albeit one that was inspired by ours. And it's easy to see why they chose to make fun of a fictional fandom based off of ours: because the idea of a fandom of adult males watching a show traditionally thought to be for little girls is a funny idea. It's really easy to make an episode of a comedy show based on that. The people who made this are not assholes; for the reasons I've explained, I believe the episode is more of a tribute than a satire.

I don't watch them myself, but I'd bet there are probably some people who do them that are just funny, and people would want to watch their reaction/review because they know they'll get a laugh out of it because the person doing it is good at comedy and being funny. Also, on this topic, if anyone hasn't seen this video, it's absolutely hilarious and awesome, so watch it:

I don't regularly drink either. So if I had to choose, I'd say tea, since tea actually tastes good (no offense, coffee-drinkers ). I've had tea a few times, and there's definitely a lot of good tea out there, plus there's such a huge variety of kinds of tea. Yeah, there's variety with coffee too, but I don't know if it can compare with the kind of variety that tea offers.

I'd guess it's a cultural thing since it would be very hard for someone to rhyme on the spot like that unless they were brought up in a culture like that. If someone was brought up being trained to speak in rhymes and everyone (or everyzebra) around them were speaking in rhymes, they'd have no trouble at all picking it up. Really? I haven't read that, yet, though I'd like to. I'm glad to hear it confirms my guess . Yeah, that would be awesome! Developing some other characters more, that would be so cool. And it would give them more options if they start running out of ideas for the Mane 6.

Not that there's anything wrong with this thread having gone on so long, but I think that the original question was answered correctly on the first page of replies: 4chan. It's very likely that that is where the idea that bronies are "autistic" originated from. They use the term "autistic" to refer to people who act really obsessed with something. Or even if someone's just a little bit obsessed with something, they will be called "autistic." They consider the brony fandom to be one of the most "autistic" fandoms. It's not that they actually sincerely believe that all bronies have actual autism. It's just a slang term they use. Just like how they call each other "faggots" regardless of whether someone is gay or not (since almost everyone posts anonymously, it's impossible to even tell someone's gender unless they state it). They're not being homophobic when they say that, it's just their way of speaking to each other. So if someone calls you, or the brony fandom, autistic, don't worry about it. Don't take it personally. It's because the person saying it can't comprehend how someone could act so passionately and care so much about a certain thing, especially a thing like My Little Pony, possibly because they themselves would rather act cold and indifferently towards everything. It's just a lack of understanding, that's all.

Which of the Mane 6 would make the best gamer? Why?
User07832407840 replied to Adorkable's topic in Sugarcube Corner
I'm gonna answer this question not just on who would make the best gamer, but also how well each pony would take to video games if they were introduced to Equestria. I think a lot of people would say Rainbow Dash to this, due to her competitive nature. But think about it: Dashie loves flying and being out in the open. She would hate sitting cooped up in a room being still. She has to move around and get out. I think Rainbow Dash's relationship with video games, if they existed in MLP, would be very much like her relationship with reading books. She would make fun of people who play video games for wasting their time. But then once she actually got forced to play some video games, she would probably become addicted due to her competitive nature and end up spending all her time trying to beat it. I think Pinkie Pie would make the best gamer. Pinkie Pie is extremely skilled and multi-talented (all her instruments, her ice skating, her probably eidetic memory), so chances are she'd be just instantly good at video games. I don't think Twilight would have much interest in it as she'd probably prefer books and reading. Applejack I think wouldn't take to technology very well, as she prefers old fashioned things and is more of an outdoorsy pony anyways. Rarity—lol, Rarity. Just no. (Too much of a girly girl to be into video games) And Fluttershy would not be able to stand any game with violence or scary imagery but would probably be alright with other games. I can actually see Flutter being a decent gamer so long as it's not a game that might trigger her into a panic attack. -
How old do you have to be to become a brony?

The Powerpuff Girls. Seriously, anyone reading this right now who hasn't watched this show recently needs to see it. It's amazing. Freaking hilarious, and with so much adult humour and violence it's less of a "little girl's show" than MLP. Bronies can definitely appreciate this show, as the writing and humour is very clever, the voice acting is awesome (one of the Powerpuff Girls, Bubbles, is voiced by Tara Strong . Plus, Tom Kenny is the narrator), and the Powerpuff Girls are very cute. What more could you want? If you want to avoid predictable plots—try Adventure Time. That show probably has the most unpredictable plots I've ever seen, in any show not just cartoons.

Who would you want to have narrate your life?
User07832407840 replied to Megas's topic in General Discussion
Absolutely Rainbow Dash. Without a doubt. AHHHH, that'd be so awesome. -
I pre-ordered from Amazon the My Little Pony comics Omnibus Volume 1, which contains the first 12 issues of the MLP comics. It'll only be released in November, though, so I have a while to wait.

Things you hate about your gender?
User07832407840 replied to RainbowMau's topic in General Discussion
I hate when men think that it's a man's duty to act "manly" and think all men should fulfill the role of a man by being strong and not wasting their time doing things that women could do. Like, I know this guy at my work who I had a big conversation with about gender roles and transgenders and stuff, and he was of that opinion, that all men (as in, everyone with a penis; he dismisses transgenders as basically being people with a mental disorder that should get therapy to help them understand that their biological sex is what gender they should identify with) should do the things a man is supposed to do, like being the main provider in a relationship—for example, if a man is making less than his wife or living off his wife's salary while staying home to raise the kids, he's not really doing his proper job as a man. This guy I was talking to is actually a really nice guy, not sexist or anything, but this was just how he was raised to think. I guess this isn't so much something that I hate about my gender specifically, but about all society, because there's people of both genders, male and female, who think this way. But it is sure more outspoken and prevalent amongst men. Also, I hate the way some guys (not all, just some) talk about women when they talk about their appearance. I'm sure there's females out there who talk the same way about attractive guys, so this also isn't something exclusive to the male gender, but I've had more exposure to the guy-talk side of things being a guy myself. I hate how most guys are SO homophobic. By that I mean guys who look at you weird if you're a guy and you're walking too close to or acting a little too friendly towards another guy. This was more of a problem in high school than now, but that doesn't mean it's not a problem. And finally, I hate (well not so much hate but just find stupidly funny) how it is considered the manly way to, when hurt, not express any pain but to "suck it up," UNLESS you get hit in the balls. Then you are practically expected to roll around on the floor, face contorted in an expression of excruciating pain. Cause you gotta show you have balls, of course. To prove your a man. If a man were to just "suck it up," maybe wince a little but otherwise keep a fairly straight expression and carry on ignoring the pain, that man would be seen as barely even a man even though in reality it hurt a lot but the guy was just good at tolerating pain. Just something I've observed that I find funny. -
I can't believe I haven't posted in this thread yet, I LOVE the Fluttershy/Rainbow Dash ship. I like to imagine every time I see Rainbow Dash standing next to Fluttershy in the show that it's because RD secretly has a crush on her. Flutterdash is best, cutest ship ever. And is this not the cutest picture you have ever seen in your life:

How Many People have You Brought into the Fandom?
User07832407840 replied to True Rarity's topic in Sugarcube Corner
No one yet... but I plan to! Or at least, I plan to try to introduce some people (mainly the people I'll be living with when I go back to University this September) to it and at least get them to agree to watching a few episodes. Then it'll just be fingers crossed that they like it and want to watch more. -
Bronies, did you ever play with MLP toys as kids?
User07832407840 replied to Rarity Paige Belle's topic in Sugarcube Corner
I grew up in a house with two female cousins around my age and one a bit older than me, and although I played a bit with barbies and some other girlish toys when me and my twin brother would play with our cousins and their toys, I don't recall seeing an MLP toy. It's very well possible that there was one but that I just don't remember it. However, I do remember playing on their PC the game My Little Pony: Friendship Gardens. I remember I really liked that game, it was fun. So I did still have a positive association with MLP in my mind from when I was a kid, before I became a brony, because of that. -
For me it doesn't matter so much about how long it goes for, whether it's ten more seasons or one more or whatever, as long as the episodes remain at the same quality and have the same appeal to them as they've had so far. As long as the show doesn't go downhill but instead "quits while it's ahead," so to speak, I'll be happy. And I think there's a good chance of the show remaining well made and good quality as long the crew working on it remains the same and doesn't go through big changes, cause that is often something that can wreck a show.

Re-watching MLP:FIM and currently halfway through season one, I'm remembering all the reasons I fell in love with and became addicted to this show in the first place. I really think I could re-watch this series decades from now and still love it. Just so much awesomeness.

It'll take some time to get used to navigating around the site, but you'll figure it out in time. Read this thread before you start role playing: http://mlpforums.com/topic/6531-the-roleplay-world-system-read-this-first/#entry149599 Also, here's a link to the Roleplay FAQ: http://mlpforums.com/page/faq/_/roleplay-world/ , which might come in useful once you do start role playing. But make sure you've read and understand that first thread first before you do anything with role playing. There's lots of ways of interacting with people on this site. There's replying to or being replied to by posts on the forums themselves, commenting on status updates (which you can see the latest of if you scroll down on the front page) or having people comment on yours, messaging people (which works kind of like how the messaging on Facebook works in that multiple people can be added to a single conversation if you want), and then there's the blogs where you can make blogs and follow blogs. Also, you may add friends on here, but unlike Facebook, they are not required to accept a request, they are just added to your friends list. Oh, and I should also welcome you to the forums and wish you a wonderful time here! Glad you decided to join us

Well for one thing there's a LOT of puns where a common word in English gets altered slightly to include a reference to something horse-related. Some examples, which are all used within the show itself: Everypony=everyone. This is perhaps the most well known example. It's the same idea for anypony, nopony, and somepony. Foals=fools. "Ladies and gentlecolts"="Ladies and gentlemen" Outside of the show, there's a lot of memes, phrases, and slang words that originated from the fandom. Hedoth mentioned a few and linked to a good article that explains some more. Some of the common ones include: "clop"=fap (specifically, to something pony related) "facehoof"=facepalm "brohoof"=bro-fist, also known as a fist bump. Hopefully this helps a bit.

I lol'd SO much during this episode, even watching it a second time. Rarity and Applejack's back and forth bickering was hilarious, partly due to their extreme personality clash but also due to the lines being funny. Also, Twilight is even more adorkable than she usually is in this episode, and her trying her best to match their slumber party exactly to the book is very entertaining to watch. So overall, I really liked this episode.

I agree. I think if they wanted to they could pull off making it enjoyable and watchable for little girls but also being more complex than the average little kid's show at the same time. I mean, it already is more complex than the average kid's show, but I'd love if it continued in that direction and became even more sophisticated and incorporating even more story arcs and mature themes, like what Adventure Time does.
