  1. Rock and metal. More specifically, classic rock; some classic metal; 90's/00's punk rock or alternative rock with punk or pop punk elements in it; pop punk; some post hardcore; a little bit of grunge; metalcore; and death metal (mainly oldschool death metal, from the late 80's/early 90's). So my tastes range quite a bit, like I'm okay with almost anything, within the rock or metal genres, not much outside of that. Probably the only two artists outside of those genres that I really like are James Blunt (his first album at least; I've only heard a very few songs from his later albums, so I don't know about his later stuff) and Depeche Mode, which is an amazing electronic band. Genres I will never, ever, get into or listen to of my own free choice include country, rap, and hip hop. Dubstep and other electronic forms of music I'm neutral on; there's probably some electronic artists out there that I wouldn't mind, but I don't feel any need to go looking for some.
  2. I haven't made a status update on here in a long time. Well. Here it goes. Last night I saw the new Transformers movie. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would seeing as I'm not really into Transformers and since some people at my work said the movie was terrible; I didn't mind it myself. My favourite part, of course, was when the scientists briefly made the transformium turn into Rainbow Dash. That was pretty awesome.

I know, right? It's worth it just for that part. It really is.

    3. Panne

      Panne

My sisters are going to watch it for a K-pop star that makes a guest apperance and I will go for Rainbow Dash.

Haha, sounds good. It was a decent movie, I thought, at least, if you're in the mood for a whole crapload of explosions and action. Although it wasn't all just explosions and action, there were some funny parts, and I liked the characters, and the plot was better than I thought it was going to be. But Rainbow Dash's appearance, though brief, just made it that much better.

  3. First MLP thing I saw was definitely pony avatars on YouTube. At first I had no idea what they were, but I remember seeing a lot of them. Then at some point in time I discovered what "bronies" were and made the connection.
  4. Hmmm, yes, I must not have realized the question said "predict," not "hope." I was giving my best-case scenario.
  5. I was just thinking today of how there's some kid's shows that I think it would be cool if they had as big (and internet-present) a fandom as MLP. One of them would be Ruby Gloom. Another is The Powerpuff Girls. That show has a lot of older fans, including many male fans, but it's not even close to the size and internet-presence of MLP. Although technically I wouldn't want any kid's-show-fandom to be as big as MLP since then it might overshadow the MLP fandom (and I like our fandom being big ), but I'm just saying if there was going to be one that was as big, those shows would be two that I wouldn't mind.
  6. I totally agree with all of that. I've seen a little bit of King of the Hill, and I've noticed it's very much like that. And the earlier Spongebob seasons are definitely better than the newer ones, for sure.
  7. My brother is really into South Park. He started the series from the beginning and is on Season 7 right now. I don't think he plans to catch up on all the seasons, I think he'll just watch till he gets bored of it; he's already saying there's a noticeable decline in how funny the episodes are compared with the first few seasons. I've seen some episodes of South Park but not very much, and I think it's funny but not something I'd watch regularly. I'm not very into mature cartoons. Except I do really like shows like Aqua Teen Hunger Force or Bob's Burgers (which is one I forgot to mention in my first post; has anyone else here seen this show? It's soooo funny) because they are "mature" in that they can have mature content in it, but they choose not to very often. So there's whole entire episodes of ATHF or Bob's Burgers that are perfectly suitable for a young audience, but every once in a while they will have an episode or a scene dealing with a mature topic that is not suitable for a younger audience, so it's enjoyable because it doesn't need to refrain from mature things like a kid's show would, but it doesn't solely use crude, mature jokes for humour, it finds other ways to get laughs most of the time. Another show I forgot to mention in my first post: Spongebob Squarepants. This was like my favourite show as a kid. I'd love to start re-watching it, both for the lolz and the nostalgia. I've heard of it but haven't watched it. I'll check it out I guess, and see if I like it.
  8. Oh, wait a minute, I just looked up Ruby Gloom on Wikipedia and realized I do actually know about it! I watched it when I was younger, probably when it was first airing on YTV (a Canadian channel) back in 2006-2008. I really liked the dark, Gothic style of it. I think I'll add that to my list of shows to watch this summer . Alright, I will. Today. I am looking forward to this.
  9. I've recently begun getting into animated shows more. I hadn't watched cartoons in years up until less than a year ago when my friend introduced me to Adventure Time. Then I got into MLP. And now I've begun watching (starting from the first episode) Aqua Teen Hunger Force (I love the humour in this show, the premise and plots are really bizarre and the dialogue and character interactions are frequently hilarious), Regular Show, Littlest Pet Shop (I've only watched the first episode, so I'm going to watch a couple more before I decide whether I like it and want to watch more of it or not; I wasn't too interested in the first episode, but I don't want to judge the series on just the first episode), and, most recently (as in, a couple days ago) The Powerpuff Girls. I watched that show a bit when I was a kid, but I didn't remember much about it, except that I think I enjoyed it. But man, I was surprised as soon as I started watching it at how hilarious and entertaining of a show it is! It's a show I'd recommend to anyone who's looking for a funny cartoon to get into. It's freaking awesome. Also, I've been thinking a lot lately of getting into some anime... I've barely ever watched anime before, except some Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon many years ago. I've been thinking of maybe watching the first season of Pokemon. Also, I heard from some friends that "Attack on Titan" is a very good anime series. So I might try that too. And of course I've heard of Naruto and Bleach, which are both apparently good series, though I'm not sure I want to make a commitment to watching them, since usually when I start a show I plan to watch every episode from the beginning, but I think those shows have quite a few episodes, so it'd be a big time commitment. I haven't heard of any of the shows you mentioned except Adventure Time, but I'll definitely check out "Wander Over Yonder" since it's made by the guy who made the Powerpuff Girls.
  10. I don't find it "wtf" or cute.. it's a little weird, but whatever, I wouldn't judge you for it. Some people might find the hugging the Rainbow Dash while sleeping to be cute, but the diapers part, not so much. Kind of unfortunate that you have all three of these problems simultaneously (well, the second one might not be considered a problem, even if it is unusual for an older person).
  11. I haven't read many fanfics (yet), but so far my favourite is Fallout: Equestria. I'm only on chapter 7, though, so I've got a long ways to go. It's extremely well written, in my opinion.
  12. But that's only if the universe is infinite, and even then, the MLP ponies might not be able to exist with the physical laws of our universe. Like unicorn magic wouldn't be possible no matter how far away in the universe you go. My answer to this question is that it depends on what is meant by "exist." There are many different views on what it means to exist. That's why there's an entire branch of philosophy that deals with that question. One could argue that ponies do exist because they exist in our minds, and since everything else only exists within our minds (according to some philosophical viewpoints), ponies exist just as much as anything else.
  13. We need more Rarity in here, brothers! I thought this picture would be a suitable post to further boost our pride in our leader. I didn't make it, but I found it online.
  14. Hello Miles! I liked how you explained your view on each pony. For me, Fluttershy is my favourite and then Rainbow Dash who is almost tied by Twilight Sparkle as my second favourite, then Pinkie Pie, then Rarity, and then Applejack (sorry about AJ being last, I don't dislike her, I just like the others more—I really don't have much in common with her). Welcome to the forums, and I hope you enjoy it here!
  15. HII! It's nice to meet you! You're an animator? That's cool. I hope your series based on MLP goes really well. Welcome to the forums, and I hope you have a fun time here!
  16. Hello!! I'm Cork Top. It's nice to meet you. I hope you enjoy it here on the forums and have fun!
  17. But if a show is totally innocent and there's nothing wrong with the kid watching it, if it's not detrimental in any way at all to the kid, then that's bad parenting for the parent to not allow them to watch it, in my opinion. I think good parenting includes not suppressing a child's interests, so long as it's not an unhealthy interest. Also, once the kid's a teen, especially if they're in their late teens... a parent really has no business saying what shows they can watch, unless it's a really bad show, or porn or something, but in terms of a cartoon, a teen can make that decision themselves.
  18. Vlogbrothers. I absolutely looove Vlogbrothers. Vsauce is pretty cool too, I like him also. In terms of humour, BalloonShop is amazing and probably my favourite, though they're not making videos together any more. But Olan Rodgers is making videos by himself now, and his YouTube channel is another humour one that I like.
  19. I've always thought extroverts were the ones that were easier to read and introverts harder to read. I can't see why introverts would be easier to read than extroverts. Maybe it's just you, maybe you're just better at reading introverts because of your own personality type rather than because extroverts are actually harder to read.
  20. I don't know if anyone else here does this, but I have a collection of decks of cards. Nothing too crazy, though, I wish it was bigger, but it's still more decks than the average person, lol. It's probably around 30 or so.
  21. I recently won some jelly beans from a guess-how-many-jelly-beans-are-in-the-jar contest. It wasn't that big of a jar, and most people who were using math to figure it out were guessing in the 200s range. I didn't use any particular strategy to figure it out, I just thought, hey, why not put 512. It seemed like an overshoot, but then usually with these competitions, there's always more jelly beans in the jar than you'd think. And it turned out that was the case, as the actual number of jelly beans was 520. Yay .
  22. In terms of living in it, perfect would be ideal... that is, "perfect" as in there are no super-villains threatening to take over everything. My definition of perfect would still include the presence of challenges that make life interesting. In terms of watching a show, it's nice to have villains every once in a while trying to mess things up, but I do prefer when they are overtaken and dealt with and do not become too much of a nuisance.
  23. I love the motto of love and tolerate and think people should try to live by it, with a few obvious exceptions. Like you shouldn't "tolerate," as in, let happen with no opposition, things that are evil, like oppression and whatnot. It's easy to object to "love and tolerate" since all you have to say is, do you love Hitler, do you tolerate terrorism, etc. So no, the motto isn't a good one to take literally, definitely not. But is it a good one to live by so long as you understand the obvious limitations of it and when it shouldn't be taken literally, yes, I think it is a great motto.
  24. That Santa exists. I also didn't understand the concept of dramatizations on TV shows that are based on real stories; I just thought the cameras just happened to be there when stuff happened, cause that was the only way I could understand how they caught the stuff on film.
