I know, and it always kinda hurts to think back on that. When I saw Atlantis in theaters, it was down right MAGICAL. That movie literally blew me away and I still count it as my favorite animated movie overall. I was a bit underwhelmed by Shrek and, I will confess, I've been kinda bitter with the Shrek franchise sense. Yes it's unfair, but...ugh. To be fair, I won't say I hate the Shrek films as they're enjoyable, just...not much more.
I can understand that, and that's especially with true considering Kida looks much different from rest of the pincess brigade, but I guess my definition of cute (Mulan aside <3) might be slightly different from the Disney target base. XD
Yah know, you bring up a good point. Funny thing is that I generally enjoyed a number of the films from that era (Atlantis, Emperor's New Groove, Treasure Planet, Lilo & Stitch), though I will agree on some (Brother Bear, Home on the Range, Chicken Little). Of course what matters is the general box office, and that was a period in which Disney struggled. Hrad to blame them for their actions in regards to Pixar and all, so...yeah.
It is what it is.
