Hang it on your lower back, so you look really cool when doing a ninja run.

Yeah, I'll have to catch the announcements later at work or something. I'm pretty sure they're going to announce the NA release of the new 3DS, and some rumors are even saying that they'll be releasing it this February in a addition to the Majora's Mask remake. If that's true, that's a lot to look forward to!

  6. okay, can someone tell me what it means when a thread is "locked for clean‐up"? what is being cleaned up, exactly?

Well like I said, while I don't agree with deleting the comments I understand the reasoning as to why it's being done. And no, the character limit isn't being very nice xD

Thanks for the explanation. I just don't necessarily agree with it, but hey, it's not my forum so at the end of the day the mods are gonna do what they need to do.

That's what I thought. I'm used to discussions more free-form, so it just rubs me the wrong way when it gets locked down and "cleaned-up". Sure, you don't want kids seeing adult images or whatever in the fan-art forums but it seems like a bit much for the debate pit. Ad hominem or no, it's still an organic part of the conversation that was taking place and I didn't see anything that was too bad in some of these threads, mostly just heated words between people who s...

Politics are fine. Those are based in concepts people can grasp, discuss, and use to arrive at logical decisions. Religion is literally pointless to argue about, as it inherently involves concepts that humans cannot comprehend. It quickly devolves into an interpretation-fest that leads nowhere.

  13. Since you seem like you enjoy critically discussing cartoons/media, I'm curious if you've ever seen the show Steven Universe? It's one of those shows that has a lot to offer for those that want to dig a little deeper than the usual viewer.

SU is being run by a former storyboard artist and composer for Adventure Time, Rebecca Sugar. I'm a fan of AT too, but I think SU might have usurped it's spot as my favorite animated show. I highly recommend it.

  14. Far Cry 4 has an option to let you crank the game down to 24 fps. Who would ever choose that option and why?

Like I said, hard numbers don't mean much if you don't take the surrounding context into account.

I didn't phrase my thought very well. The eye can certainly see up to 576MP worth of information, but the important thing is the difference between 1080 and 720. 1 MP out of a possible 576 is actually a very small percentage of what the human eye is capable of, and when you take into account our brain's ability to recognize patterns and fill in blank space the difference in practice is, like I mentioned before, negligible.

@Daring Then you'd be telling us something we already know. There are limits to the fidelity of detail the human eye can discern and 720 vs 1080 is at the upper limit of that. Just throwing numbers around doesn't mean anything, regardless of how big they are.

The difference between 720 and 1080 are negligible. FPS is much more important, both visually and in control response time.

The choppyness is from a fluctuating frame-rate. If it's a solid 24/30, then you lose some control fidelity but visually it's fine. And, at least in the case of FC4, it's optional.

Now, something like The Order:1886 saying they're locking the framerate for a more "cinematic" experience seems a little suspect, but if that's truly the developer's vision for their game then there's not much to be done about it.

      TenorSounds

Hey, the option is there for people who want it. You can't deny that a moving picture moving at 24 fps and one moving at 30/60 fps have a different feel, and if someone wants their experience to be more "movie-like" visually then more power to them.
