  1. She's going to be a recurring antagonist like them rather than being reformed.
  2. Nah she's pretty much in the league of those other antagonists.
  3. It has nothing to do with the show itself, because given what we've been hearing from leaks, there's a lot of hype surrounding G5 (apart from the diversity issue). However, what concerns me is that what if the current CEO of Hasbro steps down for whatever reason, and is replaced with someone who hates the brony fandom and wants Hasbro to sever ties with it altogether. On top of that, the new CEO completely scrapping all current development of G5, and then replacing it with another version of G1-G3, but this time with either shitty Flash or 3d CGI, and having the same whitewashed girlieness of (if not worse than) the gens before 4. I just hope development stays consistent until the final product.
  4. Out of the animation styles for ponies, which ones do you like the most?
  5. Trixie, Gilda, and Diamond Tiara/Silver Spoon were reformed, so hopefully she'll be next. Now, we just gotta see if Prince Blueblood will come back as well.
  6. I'm not 100% sure if it was used with them, but it has been established that Disney uses Maya for animating/modeling, Zbrush for sculpting, Houdini for special fx, Nuke for compositing, and Hyperion (a proprietary Disney software) for rendering. I would truly love to see an MLP animation with high end 3d software.
  7. Hopefully this is the right forum for this thread. Let's say you wanted to form your own Pony animation studio, like Jan Animations, Silly Filly Studios, and Duo Cartoonist, and wanted to find whatever tools to use, on top of having personnel to use them (such as writers, voice actors, animators, artists, compositors, modelers, editors, composers, etc). What tools would they be? My production arsenal would consist of these. Final Draft - Script writing Storyboard Pro - Storyboards/animatics TVPaint - 2d frame-by-frame animation Cacani - Automated inbetweening Toon Boom Harmony Premium - Coloring and other features Corel Painter - 2d background painting Photoshop - Background adjustments, among other functions After Effects - 2d compositing Nuke - 3d compositing Autodesk Maya - 3d animation and rigging Modo - Modelling and 3d environments Zbrush - Sculpting Houdini - 3d special fx Renderman, Arnold, Mental Ray, Mantra, etc - Rendering Premiere, Avid Media Composer, and Davinci Resolve - Video editing Audition - Editing sound fx and voiceovers Cubase, Pro Tools, and Digital Performer - Music Flix, Toon Boom Producer, and Shotgun - Production tracking
  8. Well looks like there's someone who is willing to do this kind of animation. It's just a rough, but it's a great start.
  9. I'd rather it'd take place in its own unique universe with all new characters.
  10. This looks like it was all hand drawn compared to his other animations. Wonder if they're going for frame by frame animation now.
  11. For video editing, Shotcut, Davinci Resolve, and Hitfilm 4 Express are supposed to be pretty good. I'd recommend Lightworks as well if the limitations compared to the commercial version weren't so severe, just as 720p being the maximum resolution. Of course, there's Audacity for audio editing.
  12. Also, if you want to do animations that last just a few seconds, Krita is very well worth getting. It has frame by frame animation tools as well.
  13. Had the writers I mentioned still been around, those seasons would've been a lot better. Hell, they're a big reason why the show has created the legacy it did.
  14. Ever since Season 5, the show started diving into mediocrity. Quality episodes had been few and far in between from Season 6 and onward. The biggest factor to this is that all these seasons are without people like M.A. Larson, Amy Keating Rogers, and Megan McCarthy. Granted, there had been other good writers like the Lady Writers, but now they're gone too. It doesn't help the fact that most of the new writers aren't even that good. I think that warrants a good enough reason why most people consider seasons 6-8 to be the worst in the whole series. Even though there are still some good episodes, they don't appear as often as the seasons prior to the latest three.
  15. Opentoonz does both frame by frame and rigging. The rigging is said to be better than Flash/Animate CC, while the frame by frame is said to be even better than Toon Boom Harmony.
  16. I know I made a thread about Opentoonz, but this one applies to all free software. Not only is there Opentoonz for 2d animation, but also Krita for backgrounds, Blender for 3d graphics, Fusion (the free version) and Natron for compositing, and Storyboarder for storyboards/animatics. Using all these programs together, you could make something truly remarkable. I know Blender has been used numerous times by the fandom, but those were for purely 3d animations. It could also be used for accompanying your 2d animations in OT. These programs would be perfect for animators who are on a budget.
  17. Wanted to bump this cause I just found a Pony animation done with Opentoonz.
  18. I'd rather see an adult show that has good writing and a good story. The fanfic Black Feather would be a great example of that.
  19. What genres of MLP fanfiction are you most into? Mine would be the adventure genre.
  20. What would also be great to see is to be able to use the voices of the MLP characters and have them say what people want them to say.
