GYAHHH, you NEVER give your website a solid red background, it hurts the eyes to such a massive degree and all the text becomes unreadable. I thought we figured this out by 2004.

I personally don't mind darker themes that much, but yeah, some sites like TV Tropes and the Twitch mobile app have really poorly integrated the feature and seem to be using solid black backgrounds with white text, rather than a dark grey colour for the background with silver text, which would be way easier on the eyes... The whole point of dark modes in the first place.
A light background (preferably not white, though) is what I like the most – white text on a black background makes me see double.
